Running this with vb3 and D6 using the chord outs along with funk drummer has been a guitar practicing wet dream
vb3? D6? What are those?
GSi Organ apps. iBassist can coordinate Lumbeats drummers and output chord patterns on MIDI channel (optionally) 3 for a complete rhythm section. I like the RANDOM+BUBBLE (broken chords) versus the strict on or offbeat. Sending on beat chords to a chord app or script is also helpful to make a keyboard or guitar sound more human.
Channel 2 is the default for the bass line part.
NOTE: The Lumbeats Drum App coordination only works in standalone mode. Preparing drum parts in standalone first is helpful since all the drum apps are IAA only and need to be started before you instantiate them in AUM.
Thanks @McD .
Here’s a Demo of iBassist sending MIDI to an Organ and Guitar with the LumBeats Reggae and Afro-Cuban Drummers:
And here’s a Bossa Nova demo using the Jazz Drummer with Afro-cuban percussion added:
SampleTank basses are stunning driven by iBassist…Amazing, wish it was Auv3..
Yeah really hope Sampletank will get AU treatment some day.
ibassist is always one beat behind on Live midi in mode. I use the auv3 version in Audiobus3.The midi is provided by Chordbud2.
Anybody have that problem?
While that sounds nice, it is not even remotely close to a Bossa Nova.
I’m noticing when using iB as an AUv3 is it is not saving the state of iB in AUM. I have everything set up to send chords from ChordPolyPad and it works fine but after saving and reopening my AUM project it does not save the midi input settings at all. It goes back to playing the progression in iB and I have to set up the MIDI input all over again.
@LuisMartinez : And also: nothing is saved when you make a iBassist-preset (via it's icon in the Header). A AUM-presetname is saved, but when you open it, nothing happens...
Another annoying thing, it appears when you change settings on the cog wheel icon page to set MIDI direct in, it changes settings on the MIDI icon page, turning off sending chords and turning on sending notes which I had turned off. Overall setting up MIDI chord input needs to be easier to do especially if you can’t save the state in AUM. I had it working fine the other day after messing with it a while and I’ll have to set it up again. @LuisMartinez
Edit: just switching over to the settings page (cogwheel) and not even changing anything will change the settings on the MIDI page. I don’t know the inner workings of iB but these two pages should be independent of each other.
What are the minimal steps in iB to get chord input to send chords out? I had to spend a while the other day to get it working but can’t get it to work at all today.
You can add 4 note (7th) chords when you create a progression but when I’m able to get iB to recognize midi chord input (setting this up is not as easy as it should be) it appears to only output triads. If this is the case can I request at least four note chords? I can’t get it to recognize a major 7 chord at all.
I noticed that here as well. Had to make slight adjustments to a piece I was working on where I moved chords just a step ahead of where I wanted it to change. FWIW I was using the AUv3 version in Drambo in my case.
I was also wondering about this. You’re talking about the “Live MIDI” input for chords right?
Yes exactly
Someone in the thread mentioned their Modo Bass.. forget about SampleTank.. Modo Bass 2 should come to iOS.. physically modeled. Looks great.. @IK_Multimedia
Oh yeah! I’ve heard great things about their drum app as well but I forgot the name. Hope both of them come to iOS eventually. I know they have some issues but I do love most of their apps. Sampletron and Syntronik are 2 of my favorites. MixBox and ToneX are great as well.
The setup I’ve used with it hasn’t seemed to have any hiccups with the beat. I’m using funk drummer mostly with the amen brother pattern without using the make drums part of ibassist cos I’m using that as an audio unit and everything has sounded fine and on beat with everything. I send an up chord to vb3 and a bubble plus the bassline to d6 and everything is funking along just fine. My only issue is I’ve had some crashes trying to randomize the progression a few times. Also IK needs to bring Modo bass to iOS cos it’s awesome
I have both modo drums and modo bass on pc. They are both physical modelling (except the cymbals) not samples so they use more cpu power. That could be a reason for not porting them with Auv3 limit on memory and most daw not being multi thread.
We already have quite a bit of physical modeling on iOS, with Pianoteq especially being super powerful so I feel like it would work just fine. Is it that much more intensive than Pianoteq which has control over almost every single little thing? Also most of the GSI apps, SWAM, StringLab, etc.
Is cubasis the only DAW that makes use of multi core on iOS?
Currently also Logic, Zenbeats, n-Track Studio, FL Studio Mobile, and Audio Evolution to my knowledge.
Are you sure about Zenbeats being multi core ? When I did a test of my old iPad Pro 2017 to my new pro 2022. I got 4 instances of ButterSynth in Zenbeats vs 8 in Cubasis on old iPad.
On my new iPad I got 8 in Zenbeats and 20 in Cubasis.
A forum post I saw led me to believe that, but the option I thought I read about isn't there in Zenbeats, so you're probably right.
[edit] yeh, I read that post too fast. It only pertained to a setting in the Mac version.
👍
Nice video :
multicore option was available on iOS , but it did perform worst than single core , so the devs removed it since iOS needed different approach
Did anyone succeed in getting live midi mode to work in Logic Pro? Works like a charm in AUM but i can’t get it to receive input from anyhting in LP4I
Thanks I thought there were more but I wasn’t sure. AEM seems great but overall I’m pretty happy with C3 and apparently a big update it coming. I’ve always kinda wanted to try FLSM
My little show of iBassist focusing on the ‘integration’ with LineEditor and LivePads… Can’t wait for the complete suite to come together in AuV3…
Such a revolutionary creation… Thanks..
Nice. "Dance with me 3" is my favorite groove there.
