Love it! Thanks
Thank you... Magic..
iBassist updated bringing Sound Module Module.
@LuisMartinez - do you have any plans to bring iBassist to the iPhone eventually? 😃❤️
Would be nice, but is a hard challenge to adapt all the feature for small screens
@LuisMartinez
You managed to bring av3
Am sure you have the skills to give us a phone version
( fingers crossed )
As long as I can see the random button I’d be happy. 😀🥰😃 ❤️😉
Good news, thanks!
Just tested it, wide and, real heavy!🤘🏻 Thanks!
Digging the new LineEditor... Nice..
I ran into the same problem. I'm on IOS 17.03, m1 Ipad. It appears to be a problem with Logic Pro for Ipad. I guess we'll have to wait for the long awaited update/bug fix from Apple..........
17.1 is out if you didn't know. No clue if it helps with the issue (don't have Logic).
Yeah I'm aware of it but i always wait a while before updating in case the update breaks something:)
Is it possible to set the scale in iBassist?
It works on the basis of chords rather than scales. You kind of need to understand what types of chords fit into the scale you're working with. Then the degrees of the scale associated with that scale are what's played.
Ehhh. How to explain? Let's say you have a CM, Am, Em progression. The intervals are going to be taken from the C major scale, then the A minor scale, then the E minor scale. If your chords all fit into the same scale (C major), it will all come out OK. If you pick an outside chord, such as an F minor or A major, you'll most likely be getting some notes outside of the scale.
I'm not explaining that well or completely I'm sure. If you don't know about the relation between chord types and scales it can be rough to pick chords. In that case sending in chords from an outside app can be a better way to go.
Thank you for the detailed explanation.
I do understand and I also know a little music theory and scales and there chords. But I wonder why it needs to be so complex. Why not just have the ability to set the scale like with Pure Acid?
I have a workaround for this which is using 2 instances of iBassist one to output midi and the other one to receive it and play. I put a Rosetta Scaler between them and can select whichever scale I like. Sometimes I use iBassist to send out midi to other synths, with Rosetta Scaler in the middle.
It’s likely because I am not a bass player to appreciate the way iBassist works. But something simple to just set the scale would be nice.
It is because this is an automated accompanist and and generating decent basslines involves connecting the chords not just picking notes from a scale. In fact, in a lot of music, good bass lines involve connecting notes outside the scale.
It isn’t that complicated. When playing songs, knowing the chords is pretty important.
I do think the chord section in iBassist could use a scale helper so that the popup for adding chords could suggest chords that fit the scale. I don't think it should be a part of the line editor. That's better left to scale degrees.
I also really wish the popup menu would stay up longer, if not indefinitely until you close it. I hate being forced to think up the chord I want then find it in that menu before the damn thing goes away. That one thing has always bugged the the hell out of me in iBassist.
I sent in minor chords and they came out as major. I only tried it once but was curious if someone else got this issue. Edit: I'm on latest updates
hello to everyone. i just purchased this great app. is there a way to change time signature? thanks. 🙏
I have used Chordbud2 to send chords to ibassist. It is perfect for what you want. Unfortunately, right now it Audiobus it is always 1 beat late. I wonder if it does the same in AUM. I don't own AUM.
Select the "New Line" button and you'll get some prompts. One of them is the time signature.
That´s quite strange.
Please, send a report with screenshots or little video to [email protected]
Looks like an interesting update has hit..
Well, I guess Rock Drum Machine will be mine today… looks like it was updated too..
Does anyone else get > @Dham said:
Tnx for the reply! Besides that, do other people have extremely choppy/stuttery playback with very random notes in standalone, in logic pro and aum. Sometimes the timeline scrubber even skips back or forth when playing/
It seems that some users are having problems related to the Magic Keyboard. When you disconnect it it works perfectly.
Ya know I was hesitant about this app at first and then the other day I randomly decided to take the punt and try it out and I’m very glad I did. Honestly it’s a fantastic app. You can run entire songs with just this which is a bit amazing. Inspired me to grab Future Drummer while I was at it and I’m sold. Amazing apps @LuisMartinez
@LuisMartinez Tnx! Works like a charm. Do you know if this can/will be fixed as i do tend to use daw shortcuts a lot. Related to that: Do you know if it is possible to run the live midi in of iBassist in logic pro? I can’t seem to get it to work.
