I guess something is broken, if more patches are supposed to be there. I only have one patch. “A first contact” and two choir samples.
XinematiX, version 2.0.4.
iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th generation, 256 GB.
iPadOS 17.4.1 latest stable version.
I use external storage with XinematiX.
Now downloaded all the data files and it seems not all data is stored externally.
App size XinematiX = 602,7 MB says my storage info.
But Documents & Data now 32,66 GB on the iPad.
When i look at the external drive while outside XinematiX there is already the file structure and there is already data present.
In the XinematiX config, when i look at the storage it has it’s checkmark on the external drive i use.
After i downloaded XinematiX my first action was to configure local storage to external.
When i started the external USB stick was empty with a lot of free space … 256GB.
The XinematiX folder structure is present, with some data on it. but it seems most data is stored locally?
My iPad is now full, and i deleted XinematiX for now.
Earlier already mailed XinematiX support but no response.
Anyone a hint?
Thanks.
Rob
A simple, straightforward ‘how to install Xinematix (and Audiolayer for users of both) when using external storage’ is desperately needed unfortunately. It can’t be that complicated but the process seems to be a bit temperamental.
If anyone knows the exact order you need to do things in to get everything installed okay so that Xinematix and Audiolayer can access everything without any problems, please share. @VirSyn, really don’t want to hassle you but a step by step guide would be so helpful.
Download Xinematix.
Restore “Complete access pass”
Go to “Storage place” and change to “select external storage”
then go to “Download Sample Libraries” and download each pack one by one
which works better than trying to download everything in one go and is less prone to being skipped.
Once the sound libraries have been installed Audiolayer will see that Xinematix is installed
and all of the Xinematix libraries will be available in Audiolayer.
With the recent update we can deinstall whatever sample libraries we don’t need.
Be sure to have plenty of space on the ipad because Xinematix uncompresses
the sample libraries there before placing them on external storage.
That’s it.
Thanks @Gravitas, much appreciated. So, if you create a folder on external storage for both Audiolayer and Xinematix content and select that folder for both, Audiolayer will automatically recognise the Xinematix content and vice versa? Or do you have to select the top layer of the external storage (i.e. not in a folder) for things to work properly?
Thanks @Gravitas
Yes, done all required steps.
Only difference: i downloaded 5x or 6x Sample Libraries in parallel.
Ok, i will start everything again, but now download every Sample Library one by one.
I will report later then
Exactly this though I would recommend installing Xinematix first.
It's easier for Audiolayer to find the Xinematix folder.
Or do you have to select the top layer of the external storage (i.e. not in a folder) for things to work properly?
My SSD drive is partitioned so all I did was point Xinematix to that drive and installed directly.
Xinematix created a folder obviously called "Xinematix" and everything went in there.
I would presume that if you created a folder and
directed Xinematix to it that it would do the same thing.
Cool.
Thanks @Gravitas, really appreciate it. Cheers.
Anybody else having the AU not being in full size?
It’s hard for me to see 🥺
Regarding the install of the huge Sample Libraries on external storage.
Now downloaded the Sample Libraries one by one.
It seems indeed this is the best way to install all 63x libraries on external storage.
Local now on iPad = App Size 602,7 MB, Documents & Data 575,9 MB.
Interesting to know if this storage issue is caused by some odd behavior on part of Apple’s file management system or by the app XinematiX itself.
Anyway: glad it’s now solved.
Thanks @Gravitas
Less is more. Most Synths are far too loud.
I like to have more than 1 instrument in my arrangment.
FYI @VirSyn Xinematix was crashing when I tried to delete downloaded libraries last night.
I think the issue could be to do with uncompressing the sample packs
on the ipad and then copying them over to external storage.
No worries.
Yeah, the three Felt Piano sounds nothing like a real felt sounding piano…
But, as you said, no one buys this excellent Suite of sounds for the pianos…
Almost everything else sound good!
Two questions. @VirSyn? @Gravitas?
Can i install the packs i want to external storage, uninstall Xinematix, then at a later date reinstall Xinematix and direct it to the folder I’d previously used on external storage and be able to successfully use the packs without downloading them again?
Secondly, i can open Xinematix sounds in Audiolayer but i can’t seem to open Audiolayer sounds in Xinematix? Is that as expected or is there a way to open Audiolayer instruments in Xinematix? Would be great to be able to use the morphing slider with user created instruments.
I wonder if offloading Xinematix achieve this?
The recent update has fixed loading up multiple instances of Xinematic in AUM and dRambo.
Thank you @VirSyn
@VirSyn any way the AU can be full screen again in GarageBand? It’s too small for me to see now
Yup, I’ve tried that myself however the packs
do not show as installed yet Xinematix is still able to play them.
Try using the inbuilt search engine.
That’s brilliant on both counts. Thank you so much @Gravitas.
Shame that Xinematix doesn’t recognise fully that the samples are already installed on the external storage after a reinstall though - surely that should be possible? @VirSyn?
The search workaround for using Audiolayer patches in Xinematix works perfectly. Kinda feel it shouldn’t be necessary though if the app were really set up to sell the idea of Audiolayer/Xinematix cross compatibility - the Audiolayer patches should be directly accessible in the Xinematix browser just as the Xinematix patches are directly accessible in Audiolayer.
@VirSyn, i expect you’re utterly fed up with Xinematix, but hopefully you can find the enthusiasm to tie off the loose ends at some point? There are things, noted by users in this thread which really stop it from being the comfortable user experience it could be. No extra features are needed, just that everything works and that would make it a rock solid choice for anyone looking for quality samples on iOS. Not said to hassle you though: obviously your mental well-being comes first. Cheers.
Here’s a heads up for anyone who may experience the on screen frozen Xfade rainbow after loading some new instruments to an external storage device.
I mapped a MIDI CC to the on screen Xfader and once used it freed up the on screen function.
I was looking for a choir and then I found some choirs, and heaven knows I'm ecstatic now!
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the new complete offer, so had to come and check. This is so incredibly generous, but I'm sad to hear that this has all come at a mental price for you @VirSyn Sending positive vibes your way, and will definitley look to grabbing more of your apps in future, by way of gratitude.
Let us know if I can help with extra testing...or anything really.
All the best!
So this app cost 1$ to download…
How much is it to get the sounds? I tried to skim through the comments but can’t figure out the final verdict
It looks like the complete pass is $19.99 US
That’s significantly better than 1100$! Ok I’ll watch some demos to see.. at first glance there seems to be only a few parameters to control so i would guess the sounds are basically samples ready to go
@reasOne : see https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/1317744/#Comment_1317744
The update shrunk the auv3 on my iphone in GarageBand
Do we know how long the 20$ price tag is in effect?
