I don't get the slide parameter to work with KB-1 in AUM.
Is the slide MPE CC not 74?

    Thank you!

Yes that should work. Just double checked with KB-1 and it works as expected on my end.

Can you fade the individual notes in like on the Salome keyboard?
I really like this feature but it would be even better to have more travel, hence my trial of the KB-1
MIDIspy shows me various levels of MIDIcc74 on all channels.
ALso Quanta does not react to cc74, so it's probably not Salome. Maybe AUM is filtering the MPE stream?

  • I just sold my OP1 because this instrument is a more visual and faster workflow for me. Plus, you can d/l samples from op1.fun and load those up. Bram rules!

Wow thanks, that’s amazing! That just made my evening B)

  • Ok, my fault was not havng the poly aftertouch activated.
    Now it's working!

Thank you for the quick reply!

  • Just grabbed this app… and dang is it sweet! It’s So fast to sample into and get some thing going.
I sampled 3 instances of model 15 into one salome and got the sickest pad going and an arp in a second instance.

Would be rad to have a delay going on in there too and some other modulation but as it stands its quite amazing and i can still add effects later so im good!

    Great app and work Bram!

Thanks! Yes, that was the idea.. to focus on rapid workflow rather than deep editing. Great to hear you're enjoying it! <3

TLDR; Salome is for drone lovers

So, I’ve been into the idea of letting drones hang out in the background on my desktop to play through the monitors while I’m making music, reading, or doing whatever really. I know I could make one in Drambo but seemed like overkill for my intents.

Overall I wanted a soundscape to get the creative flow to peak out a bit more is the main intention.

Then this led me to an app I’ve used anytime I am messing about with music …

    Salome!

I recalled it being a Universal app.
So you can set it and forget it on MacOS. I have an M1 so it works perfectly.

(I think Bram talked about this working on Intel at one point but I don’t know if it does or doesn’t.)

Why I didn’t think of this first considering I use it often and it’s one of the few apps on my phones home screen before all the others who knows, I sure don’t.

I just wanted to give some love to this app. It’s the app that doesn’t stop giving. I still find new and throughly interesting ways of using it. I hadn’t considered how regularly I would use this app upon purchase, but it’s low key in my top 5 most used apps, BEFORE I found this one niche use case.

Possibly not @brambos initial intention, to just have drones playing constantly, but a pleasantly surprising and happy experience none the less for myself.

    Cheers ABF!

    Wow, that's awesome! :)

In fact, I know others (including myself) sometimes just fire up a drone or a generative synth to play in the background while doing chores or other activities. I guess it also functions as a sophisticated alternative to brown noise and calms the mind B)

That’s good to know! It’s been a nice little extra to mess about with.

Appreciate the response @brambos and the work you do! Cheers 🤘🏽

  • I like Salome to trigger short phrases, there is always a nice interplay of the sample running at different speeds - and I love Salome's keyboard too!

I made a vide a while ago - sorry, no YouTube user.

Actually, after @brambos experiments with samplers, I think a Ruismaker 4-track "Tascam" would be great. Like the tape loop in Gauss but with Salome's start/stop sampler options... oh, I was dreaming again.

  • Grabbed this last night and love the simplicity and great dron-ey sounds you can quickly create. :)

I was struggling to record midi out though, tried in GR2 an nothing was happening.

Is this because it is MPE, I don't know if it is possible to directly record the Salome virtual keyboard action in a DAW?

It worked in logic but only using logics keyboard so no nuances etc

Sure, any host that supports recording MPE data should be able to capture and replay exactly what you do on Salome's virtual keyboards.

  • May have to buy.

    Sample wiz 2 isnt providing.

OK cheers :) , think I can do it in Logic (midi mono mode) but not sure its possible in GR2 unless anyone knows otherwise!

The difficulty is that each note gets its own MIDI channel in MPE, and most "normal" sequencers can only assign a single MIDI channel to each track. So the host needs to be built to support that.

    Gotcha :)

I never really knew what MPE was until I downloaded your app, whole new world to explore!

Mostly some IAP of existing apps. Picked up FontStack. Got some cool sound packs I’ve been wanting in blocs wave. Wanting another pianoteq piano (trying to narrow down which one). Also like the new Korg funk/jazz drum sounds IAP for the Korg module, will probably get that after the trial. Picked up some non music apps as well. My sister got me a $100 gift card, so I’m enjoying a little buying spree.

This first thing I do after getting a gift card is watch thesoundtest room channel and see what’s new and what I can spend it on.
