Yes, I am already working on drag/drop, but iOS won’t let me use iCloud files which are not downloaded yet (with the little cloud icon). Is that normal with other apps too? (I never use drag drop because it’s so clunky)

I think it’s normal, drag and drop it’s awesome with samplecrate

So I can’t say for certain but I wanna say when you click on the sample that’s in the cloud it automatically downloads and then can be uploaded into the app. That’s how it’s always been for me anyway. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you mean.

No, that's the situation I'm talking about. Once it has downloaded itself it will import without a hiccup.
But I can also drag an icon that is still "in the cloud only", and that will not work.

And I can't programmatically force a file to pre-download, it seems (which I can understand).

I don't like releasing a feature that doesn't work in all common situations - as that will lead to a lot of emails to be answered :|

I don’t blame you at all. It’s easier with samplecrate, but I’m sure the less annoying emails, the better lol.

FWIW, I think an app working natively and importing directly from files is much easier so I prefer how it is now. I guess some people prefer drag and drop but it’s way more fiddly, imo.

    @brambos

It’s strange some Apps can see iCloud samples eg Koala, some cannot.

I been chatting to Imaginando about it as they are having exactly the same problems trying to get it to work.

I can see them, but I can't force them to download in order to access them. And Apple's internal error messages aren't helpful.

So I'll leave it up to the user to tap the files to download them before importing.

    Perfect

One custom scale and it's close to perfection...

  • Excellent grid controller @brambos Can we please have the ability to select scales?

Do mpe controllers normally allow that though? I don't think so. Geoshred allows scale selection but only because it still allows you to play any intermediary notes. What would be nice maybe would be it you could select a scale and notes in that scale were marked or highlighted in some way. But an actual quantize to certain notes function would work weirdly with mpe pitchbend as you'd have different intervals between adjacent notes on the same keyboard, for example one interval might be a semitone, the next a whole tone.

The in-app keyboards of the bleasssynths can be limited to scales and pitchbend works. I don't know what it does between scale notes, but it kinda works.

Not with most traditional hardware MPE, but pitchbend is less important for me vs expression: cutoff etc.

In my mind, ideally, you would be able to replace pitchbend with another controller like resonance or something else. For example, you could do this with Sensel Morph.

    Edit: update 1.0.1 is out.

    • Fixed a weird issue where the filter cutoff knob would only have a minimal effect in some filter modes (not sure how that slipped by the last test plan)
    • MPE now sends/responds to MPE Channel Pressure instead of Y-Axis (CC#74). Should not have any noticeable impact for people not using external controllers

iOS is already available, I'm waiting for Apple to approve the MacOS Intel/ARM versions.

Thanks for the MPE improvements. Pressure(aftertouch) now working on the Push 3 with mac version. I think maybe you also made the other change I suggested, not using MIDI channel 1 for MPE notes output from the built in playing surface (tested briefly on the ipad version)? Thanks again!

  • Picked it up. Probably the fav of all Brambos apps. Really makes samples come alive.

    Animoog Z does.

I’m with you… I hate practicing scales. I just pump raw MIDI through Rozeta Scales and it’s handled automatically. So, I could use Salome for MIDI IN and go through Scales and into a Salome MIDI IN and have an all @Branbos solution.

Is the new grid layout gonna be a separate update or was it added and I haven’t found it yet?

Yes! Plays nicely in macOS Logic Pro and fun in standalone. Love that you can save and share patches between the mobile and desktop versions :)

  • I’ve watched the demo and the @thesoundtestroom tutorial but I’m still not sure Salome is designed to be used the way I’m going to use it.
What I want to do is import a spoken piece (likely lengthy), move the start/stop loop points around and either record or export multiple loops from the original piece to another source.
If @brambos would chime in on this that would be great.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Isn’t there a 90 second limit on recording. Koala seems like a better choice for recording and chopping into additional slots for instant playback of the edits. Not sure about any limits tho’. This is an app to turn recorded content into MPE notes for changing pitch and manipulation like a synth engine. Bad use case for you.

Neon audio editor is also worth a look.

From your description it sounds like all you need is an audio editor such as Auditor, Neon, Twisted Wave, or even just AudioShare. If you're not going to be doing pitch and other modulations and playing around with the samples in creative ways live then I don't know that this is a good fit. And as mentioned - 90 seconds max.

Animoog, Model 15, DRC and others are so playable for moobs like me, exactly because they have customizable scales. It would be great to see in an app like this.

Well, it would be pretentious to call myself a "moog" :) ..

There are a handful of midi controller apps for this also if you don’t have any.

Can you mention any that are as responsive and easy to use, as the keyboards in the mentioned native apps? Preferably with custom scales and MPE. I already have kb-1 and Xequence AU | Keys. Haven't used either much though.
