Logic Pro for ipad users flooding back to Cubasis all of a sudden? (Cmon CB 4!!!)

Yeah you too? II have a feeling it’s all the rage now. @sfm new tutorials kind of cemented that notion for a few of us , methinks. Hoping that it’ll piss Steinberg off sufficiently to come back with a (Pro level) answer…
Hey Lars, you guys gonna let them do THAT to ya?!!!?🙃😉🤣🤪😁😎👹

  • Haha I’m excited for whatever is in store. I’ve read form multiple spots now that it’s a big update (and may be paid which makes me think it is CB4).

I’ve been with them since the start. Tried logic for 4 months and couldn’t get into it. Went back to C3 and wondered why I ever even left.

  • Seems to be the trend …

  • I’m just hoping for one more update for CB3 before 4. Then I think if they don’t have everything by then, they should be working on a ground up new Cubasis 4. I agree with @HotStrange , I forgot but I now see and then it’s the best DAW for iPad. I wish it had Zenbeats controller abilities but for mixing and mastering, and as an all around full featured daw it has all I could ever need on iPad and ios. (That’s all I want, Lars , just midi learn mappable to external hardware controllers )

  • @dreamcartel ;Why do you want one more update vs just a Cubasis 4?

  • Guys, you know that Cubasis 4 is going to be subscription only, right?

No, how would we know that ? Do you know how much?

What do you mean by the controller abilities exactly ?

I'd rather pay a one time fee for CB4 and to keep all my IAPs. Would suck if it went subscription. 😜

Yeah, I went back to CB3 myself since it's easier for me to master my tracks in, and I can use it on iPhone with no issues.

Yes, that 2as pretty clearly a joke! Could be true of course, but would be a pretty stupid move imo

I hope it’s a one time fee. If it’s as amazing as I’m
Hoping it’ll be, it will be worth it. Also yeah Cubasis actually looks quite good on iPhone.

  • As long as they keep that “is” at the end of the word, it’s going to be android-friendly, subpar to the LP4iOS in any way.

If Blackmagic can port serious software like DaVinci Resolve, what’s keeping Steinbergmagic from doing the same with its flagship Cubase? 🤫

Eh I’m already happy with how it is now and will be glad to see some improvements. It’s definitely missing some things but I much prefer it over LP4i in every way. I tried with Logic but did not gel with it in any form unfortunately.

Not sure I’d say it’s subpar. Maybe objectively when you compare features in some ways, but otherwise it all depends on what the user gets from it. I’m more inspired and start/finish more projects in C3 so in that respect it’s much better than Logic.

I’m happy for you, and you know that. 🤗 But don’t fool yourself, Cubasis is built around a Frankenstein platform-independent API. I’m confident in my speculation that Steinberg's intention to make Cubasis a serious “pro” tool is not their main goal.

    Lol I get what you’re saying I was just being a pedantic a-hole for a second 😂

Also yeah I think they kinda just intend on making what’s already there as good as possible without quite stepping into the same arena as Cubase. But honestly, once they add a couple more features, I’ll be more than happy. I’m able to finish tracks there as it is now so I guess they did something right lol. As long as they don’t start charging “pro” prices without all the “pro” features, I’ll be okay.

Woah. Just happened upon this comment. I’ve been doing a lot of ai stuff recently and also saw it mentioned that Davinci resolve has some cool ai features… . I can’t remember specifically what I was looking for but do you know if these are on iPad. I’m so impressed with stuff at the moment,

Final Cut, Logic Pro, Procreate dreams cooking and resolve. I’ll make a thread

Just typing on my iPad and thinking how ai is generating the greatest 4k art house videos in the style of Tarkovski yet autocorrect still changing half my words to custard Galileo.

    Back on topic.

I hate cubasis. Had it for years, cannot stand it.

I love Logic Pro, instantly was everything I was looking for in a daw that’s been missing for so long.

I’d be interested to know why people dislike logic and even more so would prefer cubasis? I’ve seen a few comments like this. I mean I’m genuinely curious about and interested in difference in preferences,

I think when you like the gui, the ui then learning an app becomes a pleasure and easy to remember. I can’t look at cubasis etc

I also think a lot of down to musical style or preference or if you’re a musician or a producer. Not everyone but in general I found a lot of people really liking the look of cubasis or workflow of stuff like beatmaker to be into electronic dance EDM production side etc whereas for me one look at cubasis makes me feel like I do passing a nightclub. And that is not good.

Might be the other way round for logic. I write music with instruments (I mean all kinds of things but writing is not loop based) and just sinking into that logic timeline view where the things I need are to hand, effects, automation, the layout is so relaxing to me,

I doubt I’ve noticed pro features missing if they’re quite technical production stuff

  • I don’t use Cubasis but I hope they rise to the challenge from Logic Pro and make Cubasis/Cubase as good as or better than Logic in the areas it is currently lacking. And take the lead in the areas that Logic is not so great in.

Competition is good. It should benefit us all.

  • I honestly think C3 is really fantastic. If I didn’t have Logic for desktop i would be fine with Cubasis.

If I could use my midi controller keyboard with it, @Telstar5 , mapping knobs and buttons and faders to auv3 controls , I don’t know why mine doesn’t work but when I press midi learn and try to turn a button or knob, it doesn’t teach it anything

Zenbeats on the other hand not only totally responds and maps: it records all automations of the parameters

IF Cubasis did that, I wouldn’t even consider the rest competition.

Yeah, what sense would there be in a major DAW manufacturer porting their software to iOS and making it subscription only…?

  • First of all, I really love Logic Pro for iPad, although I’m been pretty irritated on Apple for their slow development pace (concerning bugfixes and UI changes)…

Cubasis isn’t a full blown substitute for LP4i, and will never be - Steinways department for economical substantiation will NEVER let Lars and his team to have resources to built something like Logic for iPad…

And, as mentioned, Cubasis 4.0 will be subscription based, a natural way to go nowadays…

I have not been diving to much into Logic. But the reason why i when straight back to cubasis was that recording AU parameters from AUv3’s don’t work with all apps in Logic. They do in Cubasis.
I don’t know why this is the case in an apple product when it doesn’t seem to be an issue in most other AUv3 hosts.
I think that @brambos reported this to apple as a bug on day one 😆🤘🏼

You mean recording automation for au’s like effects and stuff in logic? Sorry, just confirming for my own sake as I’m learning still. I have done a fair bit of that in logic but maybe I was just lucky nit to have run into an au in which it doesn’t work. :)
