@klownshed I just migrated back to Logic Pro for iPad from Cubasis, don’t say that, lol!

Haha. I might have been a bit facetious ;-)

People are like ‘OmG — no full sampler in Logic! Deal breaker!’

Yet there isn’t another DAW on iOS with a desktop class full sampler. It’s grading on a curve. Logic gets criticised for things nothing else on iOS has either. So you can’t ’rush back’ to any other app on iOS to get those things.

But, I would be glad if we (at least) had the sampler from Beatmaker v3 into Logic Pro for iPad…

My expectations are really high on a nearby update of LP4i - what’s your biggest wish that you immediately wanna add to iPad Logic?

    For me...

    • Note-velocity editing in the automation editor like in the Mac version.
    • Midi Control Surface Support including Midi-Learn.
    • Favorite Files App Locations in the built-in Browser for easy preview, import & export without files.app slide/pop-over.
    • Easy export/saving of Audio & Midi Regions and Samples recorded in QuickSampler to the 'Browser'
    • Drop-Zones and Visual editing of the Arpeggiator Grid just like in the Mac version.
    • Flex Time & Pitch Editing.
    • SF2 Support and Full editing for the 'Big Sampler' just like in the Mac version.
    • Audio File Editor (Like the Mac version) allowing destructive edits, export, setting anchor-point etc.

And finally a 'gain knob' in the mixer when using audio-interfaces that support software control over the interface pre-amps.
(Currently there's only one gain slider in the settings that affect ALL input gains of the connected interface).

And well, fix the 100+ issues that have been reported over the past 4-5 months :)

    Good list!

    Yet another take on this:

    • UltraBeat - wouldn’t happen ever on iPad…
    • MIDI Environment - no, not now, and probably not ever…
    • Score Editor view - no, not now…
    • Full Alchemy Synth with all presets and full editing on iPad - perhaps end of this year?
    • A rebuilt UI of Sculpure Synth - can be on may -24 update - current UI is a disaster…
    • A complete installation of ALL Logic Macs presets on all instruments and plugins - hopefully very soon…
    • Signature Tracks - miss that on iPad - perhaps we get this end of 2024?
    • Last - something I miss a lot in Logic on iPad - List Event Editor - probably not something we will see soon…
  • @HolyMoses said:

Tempo, Key & Time-Signature track is already present :)
(Bring down the tempo track, long-tap under tempo and pick Time or Key Signature to add a track).

    • Last - something I miss a lot in Logic on iPad - List Event Editor - probably not something we will see soon…

Yes, this would be good for trouble-shooting and also adding SysEX strings for external hardware etc.

And yes, bring over the Instrument UIs style from GarageBand (Organ with proper draw-bars etc.).

UltraBeat is being 'phased out' which is sad, I miss some of the synthesis options but it's a pita for my eyes to look at.
The new 'Drum Synth' is pretty capable though.

We'll have to wait and see if we get at least one MAJOR update before it's time to renew the annual sub...

    Holy fuck!
How could I missed that Tempo Tracks already exist?? I feel ashame 🤥🤥🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

    No worries...
There's a LOT of small things in there that are easy to miss on first/initial look :sunglasses:
Some things are missing compared to desktop Logic but the Manual covers everything that's in there pretty well.

  • If we're talking things we want to see in LP I'll have to say MIDI routing on par with AUM...

  • @Samu knows his sh-t… Just to be able to make such a list . Samu , have you read the entire manual back to back ?

Yes, multiple times both Mac and iPad versions :sunglasses:
Being a 'Geek' I have to be in total control over the tools I choose use...

All the 'core functionality' is already present in LogicPro for iPad but doesn't have any UI yet.

This goes for things like the mentioned Flex Time & Pitch. I can load a project from the Mac and it plays perfectly on the iPad.
I can prepare 'big sampler' instruments on the Mac and save the presets for later use on the iPad.

What irks me the most at this point it time is the sub-par import & export functionality.

    Cheers!

Can big Logic Pro receive MIDI Clock??

It can't, unfortunately. At least Apple added Ableton Link support a couple years ago, so you can run some app that will translate MIDI clock into Link.
Before that, there was no way to sync Logic to external sequencers. Wish I had researched it before buying Logic lol.

    This is HILARIOUS!!

  • @Samu : Before I get too far down the Logic Oro for iPad rabbit hole, what exactly is the problem with import and export there? If it’s in the file system, perhaps ios18 will be an improvement? I assume Cubasis does not suffer from this problem?

Currently all LogicPro for iPad import is done using Drag'n'Drop from the Files.app (or Sample Crate or any Drag'n'Drop capable app) in Slide-Over, Split-View or Stage Manager mode.

The only 'regular' export options are to save the project or export a mix-down or individual track stems.

You can 'dig out' the samples recorded with QuickSampler using file-managers that can browse document bundles.
I use WaveBox for this, just point the WaveBox internal browser to the same place where your Logic Projects are saved.

This 'issue' is not related to the file-system just the way it's currently implemented in LogicPro for iPad.
Koala Sampler as an example allows the user to add favorite locations to its built-in browser for preview and import.

I would not call it 'suffering', it's just not as straight forward as it could be :sunglasses:
