The missing module presets was a bug, it will be fixed in an update that should be out later today. It's under review.

Thanks, I'll check it when it pops up.

    Cheers!

@tristan Great plugin! I love the way that workflow has been carefully designed for ease of use, live performance and generating new ideas.

Wondering if the module set is fixed for v1 or if any others might be added? What I'm missing is some kind of buffer/slicer/ratchet effect to chop up audio, as might be found in SB Turnado or Effectrix?

Also, wondering if there might ever be in-app modulation? Perhaps in v2?

    Cheers
    Richard

    Hey Richard,
We have plenty of ideas for future modules! Stutter/chop effects are definitely on the list for future iterations of Transit. Same for in-app modulation. Just to set expectations, our 1.x updates are generally maintenance updates, with numbered updates being the ones that bring new features. At least this is how we have worked in the past, but Transit is unlike anything else in our catalog...so things could be different. Time will tell! I'll eagerly wait for more info alongside you

Hi Tristan ... no worries, I figured that might be the case. I look forward to seeing how the plugin develops :)

  • What do these icons do?

  • I think I will give this a miss I bought Chrystalin reverb and it was a total waste of money. It’s not optimised for IPad and can’t change any of the settings or presets very easy at all

  • Turnado returns :)
I like the look of this, I hope someone will use this as inspiration to make a similar effect patch in miRack but with your own AUv3 plugins as then it would be able to take advantage of all your other AUfx in the same way.

That is strange, I think it's one of the better reverbs we have access to. Sure the interface is a bit weird but you get used to it and you have so many presets to choose from you can do without ever touching that. Hope you give it another go.

♾️ 'Engage the 'Infinity Icon' if you want the FX chain to be ON even when the Global Macro
is at 0%. Normally, this is OFF to ensure the effects don’t affect the audio outside of
actual transitions. However, there can be times in which you want all effects to remain
ON throughout a track, while using the Macro for additional motion. For those purposes,
you can engage the Infinity Icon ON.'

Not sure about the other one but a wild guess would be something about envelope. The above is from the desktop manual and that other icon is not present on desktop.

Yeah, so this was my first thought is that it has Turnado-like qualities, though transport-driven like Effectrix. I might bite, though, because the Sugar Bytes stuff doesn't support iPhone but this one does...

Transit does have a unique take on things, but so far for me, Turnado has a broader and more interesting range of effects (e.g. buffer/slicer/loop type effects) and it also has in-app parameter modulation, and a more flexible (and complex) way to map multiple effect params to a single slider via the Dictator function. Turnado's effects modules are a bit more "out there" whereas Transit's are more bread and butter - depends what you need and what inspires you.

Transit has a simple workflow that could be useful for live use, but in this kind of workflow I can do all I need with other apps for now so for me it's going to be a wait and see what they might add for v2,

Well, here we have the option to save module presets so that sounds like a later build (never released to beta?) if you don't have it or am I misunderstanding something?

Save was present in one beta and removed in a later one due to various issues but that's another story...

Ah I see. I just realised I have the demo for desktop and every subject we have touched works like a charm, and, all the menu functions missing in this one are where they should be😂 (there's no undo though, not sure where @Gavinski picked that up, would be nice though)

I said exactly that - there is no undo and redo but I would really like them. Every app with a randomise feature should ideally have undo and redo.

Yes... This still needs work and could have done with a longer beta imo, and as Samu already mentioned. I hope that all the features currently missing from the iOS version get added.

Ah, sorry! To lazy to go back and re-read. My bad. Yes: undo/redo should be effing standard on any app i.e any app that offers experimentation, I don't know why this happened with music apps but it is an enigma.

Update is released fixing module preset with the caveat that there is no longer a save option. This is strange behaviour and I expect more from such a pricey app however good it may be.

  • Hey guys

Any tips on how to automate in AUM - would be looking for transit to be active the last bar of an 8 -16 bar loop each time it comes around but no effect anywhere else?

    thanks

I let Claude read the manual and explain to me but not sure how accurate?

Yes, the same general concept should work for automating Transit in AUM on iOS:

Set up an 8 bar loop in AUM.
Insert Transit on the track you want to apply the effect to.
    Switch Transit to Sequencer Mode.
Set the Time Division to 1/8 and Steps to 8.
    Enable Loop Mode.
Move the playhead to the last step and set the transition.
Start playback in AUM. The transition will trigger on the last bar.
Use AUM's automation lanes to automate Transit's bypass or mix knob. Draw an automation curve that enables Transit only during the last bar.
    The key differences in AUM:

Instead of write enabling automation, you'll draw the automation curve directly.
There may not be a sidechain input, so automating the main bypass or mix knob is the way to go.
The interface is a bit different but the Sequencer Mode and automation works similarly.
Let me know if you have any other questions! Automating plugins in AUM follows the same core concepts but the workflow will be a bit different.

It's hallucinating - AUM doesn't have automation lanes lol, the AI is just assuming it does because most DAWs do. I'm very busy right now but I'm sure another human will be along to answer this shortly!

Haha thanks mate, I did a double take on that as well but then thought there might be automation lanes within Transit.

  • So what’s the consensus on using this as just a normal multi-fx and not just for transitions? I remember seeing Andrews demo when it came out and it definitely looks really cool. Just curious how versatile it is.

Funds are low this week so it’ll have to wait until next week anyway. Glad to have a new Baby Audio plugin though. They’re great!

This is where it really shines imo. I've been putting it on all instrument tracks in my live jams, setting the mix to 25% and getting all sorts of sweet blended tones. Also really easy to automate so it can carry a ton of weight when mixing as a jack-of-all-trades.

    Ah, thank you...

  • @HotStrange I have literally zero interest in transitions but I can see myself using this a lot as a kind of motion fx plugin. The combo of sequencer with range control of each fx as well as direction of each fx and whether the sequencer is one shot, loop, pendulum etc makes it very useful. I just hope that it gets the ability to enter numerical values as it can be a real pain to dial in things like pitch accurately - and ability to do that accurately and quickly is important. Knowing your taste a bit I am pretty sure you would dig this big time.

I think, think, that thar other one is a global control for the tails of the reverb, delay etc, controlling whether or not the tails carry on even after a transition ends. Now that the plugin is actually usable thanks to the zoom mode I need to check some of those small details to see whether they are working, whether I have some misunderstanding from my side, etc.

  • Yeah there are a few things missing from the manual, so hopefully Tristan and Co will have an up to date one out soon

  • @Gavinski @bluegroove

Thanks guys! That’s what I was hoping to hear. The app itself looks so cool so I’m glad it’s not just a one trick pony. I love a good multi effect app. I’ll probably end up buying it next week (or at least before the sale is over). I think you’re right, Gav. Looks like it may be capable of getting some weird and out there kinda sounds. Right up my alley.

  • Later on today I’ll summarize my full feedback of the release version of Transit and send if of @tristan
It might take an hour or two to dig thru everything but I will do it…

I’ll mainly be focusing on the over all usability and various UI quirks that still remain :sunglasses:

Great Samu, that will be super useful I'm sure

I’ll give you one for starters that drives me nuts.
Select the distortion module, open the module presets list and try to scroll it as you normally do by swiping in the list of presets. The scroll bar even in zoomed mode is incredibly thin and should for consistency be same width as the module selector. Also there’s no indication of what module preset is/was actually selected and loaded…

Same ‘scroll anomaly’ also applies to the module selector but at least the scroll bar is a bit wider in that one.
And using the already selected modules to pan and scroll works as there is currently no way to use the same type of module twice.

As for the other usability things I’ve already shared my view on touch interaction with the various control types.

They will get there with baby-steps, step by step :sunglasses:

Weren't these picked during beta testing? Seems like you feel there are a lot of remaining quirks...it sort of makes me wonder about the real value of beta testing when it seems so many apps are released with what are perceived as issues (even by those who were involved in testing).
