@CapnWillie That is rad
Thanks! 🙏🏽
The mockup and complete shopping list are under Teenage Engineering community on Reddit. Total price around $30. My version obviously looks different because Lego hasn’t sent me the rest of the plates I need.
Here is what it should look like completed:
This is the 3D custom printed decksaver/stand I’ll have in a few days:

Let me know how it works out @CapnWillie
This thread is gold. So much posting about this device, lol.
That is a sick setup!!
Will do.
Thanks 🙏🏽
@CapnWillie Thanks man.
But obviously you can back up all the user data (projects) from the device?
@CapnWillie how would you compare it to the 404 so far? I’m thinking of buying another 404 instead (sold mine earlier this year and miss it) but I am still a bit tempted by the KO.
Not yet unfortunately. TE answered a request about it saying it was coming soon in an update along with some bug fixes. It’s something I look forward to for sure along with audio over UsBC.
Tbh, I wouldn’t compare it to 404mk2. Perhaps earlier more simple models with less features. It’s more like the classic MPC60 or Roland’s super focused MV1 where deliberate limitations are features. They compliment each other very well so I prefer to pair the two than compare them. However, if I had to choose one—I’d be depressed but it would be SP for sure.
SP-404 does exponentially more. As such, the convoluted knucklebusting pad/button combo labyrinth.lol. Conversely, KO2 overflows with evidence of TE’s brilliant ability to design a super enchanting, caveman simple workflow and joy of making music, noise, etc.
They are quite different devices.
Yeah for all their faults TE can really design the hell out of a device and make it fun in the process. The 404 is my first choice for sure but I’m glad to see they compliment each other well. Makes me feel better about wanting both eventually 😂
That case was a tip from elekronauts and works great with a little“modding“. A bit chunky but you don‘t have to worry about the TE and it fits some cable and In Ears as well.

Nice!
That was likely me with the Amazon rec btw. @echoopera already doxxed me.lol. JK. The Lego Decksaver and 3D printed cases originated at Reddit with the orange one being available on Etsy.
Not sure about the lego case (looks nice but could be heavier than the unit itself) but 3D case is dope. But i wouldn‘t like having a case permanently attached. Hinders portability and changes the way you hold the unit in your hand. I actually like how it is now. For me it‘s all about keeping it‘s portability without added extras.
edit: and it‘s almost 100€ with shipping and tax to germany. That‘s a bit steep for my taste.
I can dig it. I agree the zip case is a good choice. I’ll be using that one when I go to the beach and anytime I’m not bringing my normal sling packs.
FWIW, the Lego case is pretty light and it does offer protection but it’s cumbersome to take the pins in and out. More of an aesthetic choice while on the table, in studio, etc.
I would be very open for a more stylish (non attachable) hardcase etc later on. The amazon thing doesn‘t win an award for prettiness,i admit it But i‘m very happy to find something right on time for my christmas travel to family. If it was you on Enauts (who posted it) then thanks for that 👍 (i‘m CEisar over there)

I don’t know man. The color you picked plus the TE branding looks pretty good to me 👌🏽. Definitely looks better than the plain black one I bought. Enjoy the family!
Thanks, yeah the grey was a no brainer when i saw it 😂 I hope the stickers will…uhm…stick but i was willing to take the risk 😁
Two more slight“mods“. Turned the strap into a grip/handle and cutted the inlay so the TE doesn‘t slip.
@Crabman protect that fader at all cost
@CapnWillie really? TE should definitely include a possibility to back up the device ASAP.
Absolutely 😂 That said, the TE really doesn‘t feel cheap. It has some weight, doesn‘t flex, nice structured bottom for good grip, knobs have a nice resistance (so does the fader). And i wish every drum machine developer would use this buttons!! Even the fader doesn‘t feel bad or that it will die in a heartbeat. Maybe it was really just the (beautiful looking but) bad packaging that damaged units at the bottom in the box while shipping. But of course, for now this thing needs to build up trust first so its better to protect the fader…
I read in a teardown that they used a very respectable part for the fader, and that it’s the ridiculous packaging that let it down.
I can’t for the life of me understand how they thought it was a good idea for the the face of the device to be basically flush with the box. I gasped when I saw some unboxings. Can owners here confirm that it was as unprotected as it looked?
you mean the alibox itself? yes, there is only very thin cardboard between the fader and outside world. And there is no space between the box/cardboard and fader. That means, every force put on the box will immediately transfer to the fader.
Oh no. I watched that video until the very sad ending. I can't stop worrying, should I cancel my order or what?
I'm going to check and see if he's done a follow-up video.
Edit: He lost the music for good, he said it's "Gone to the ether..."
The ep-133 is a mess.
Two thoughts:
i don’t know if it was the sound of drums coming out of that Digitakt or the conditional parameter tweaking making my wallet itch.
MemoryWipeGate is super concerning. I’ve read others report the same thing happen. Not exactly widespread yet considering how much of these things are actually out there but still concerning.
I’ve been pushing mine for 2 weeks and no issue. I’ve noticed every time I’ve read this happening, the user had been on battery extensively. Perhaps the batteries were critically low and caused some error. Even in this case it would be concerning as the battery indicator should blink to warn of low Batt and the OS should still save project and samples. Sounded like he lost all of the recorded samples in the project. No bueno.
Hopefully the next update fixes this. There was already an update issued day 1 so hopefully they stay quick about it. Which leads me to wondering if Ricky did in fact update his unit after unboxing. No way to tell.
*also surprised to see Ricky sampling bass and key notes in stereo. That’s why he keeps running into the voice stealing issue he mentioned. He should know better than that.
if at least we could save backups…
ricky doing his “ricky thing” - perfect groovy track.. lot of fun to watch but at the end very unfortunate event - KO totaly breaks, whole track gone .. amazing how he managed to accept it with fun - i would literally smash that thing agains wall … ricky is definitely most optimistic positivistic guy incan imagine
So far my device is behaving. I haven’t lost any work or had any odd bugs and I’ve been pushing it as i learn it for over a week.
I like the muffled, pitched down chord a lot. Will definitely sample some stuff in higher octaves as well.
I have no doubt TE will fix game breaking bugs like this IF someone makes them aware of it. Hope Ricky did.
"Did you turn it off and on again?"
Just kidding. Hope that will be fixed in the nearest firmware update.
Same. In fact, with regard to the OS, it’s a lot more stable than most apps are on launch day.
I’ve seen a couple vids of his with other gear where something similar happens and he always has a cool head and even temper. I think if I could sit and have a convo with any synth YouTuber it would be Ricky. Just seems like a good dude.
