Just a reminder that looking at the numbers like this is not very useful, due to the CPU frequency scaling happening in iOS devices: the CPU slows down to save energy. So in some cases you might even get higher CPU% with 1 instance compared to 2 instances, etc.
The CPU% is useful if you want to compare CPU usage between plugins running simultaneously (drag each node to the right to reveal its individual CPU% measurement in AUM).
Otherwise, the only useful method is to see how many instances you can load before it distorts.
Yeah, good point! I noticed that the CPU % was as you explained, but I was just trying to see how many instances I could use at once before distortion. A bit of real world usage. Beyond 3 instances I would just start converting to audio, which I find more trustworthy for archival purposes anyway.
Wen Sale?
I wouldn’t have thought there’d be one any time soon. It was on intro price when they released it, so it’s been on sale recently anyway. They usually do something around Bob Moog’s birthday, which is mid-year, IIRC. But under new management, who can say?
does anyone know how disable when you click a knob and it opens the modulation window on the left? i’m trying to live-tweak these knobs for a recording but i keep accidentally opening this window. so incredibly annoying. maybe i’m dumb but it’s making it almost impossible to tweak things loose and live ya knowwwww
Yeah, same issue here, very annoying. I believe it will be fixed in an upcoming update.
word! ok i hope so. thanks
If there’s nothing I need to automate within it, these days I just sample Mariana. CPU problems “fixed”
I am stunned and actually pretty cross about the keyboard not being included in the AUv3. It is so very strange when the keyboard is one of the most expressive on iOS/iPadOS going back to Animoog.
What are you doing @MoogMusicInc ? I would have coped if the standalone app at least worked as an IAA. Mariana sounds excellent but I can't use it like this.
Make sure to report to Moog and not just @ them here. Direct reports get more weight for most developers.
You are right but where do you suggest i do that? Looked on the moog website and its a labyrinthine headache. Hence why i am so cross.
They have already said the on screen keyboard will be added to the AUv3 in a future update.
What about
https://moogmusic-help.freshdesk.com/en/support/tickets/new?ticket_form=software_support
Bless you for going that far. I will do a ticket even though this seems more for technical problems rather than complaints/update requests.
Created a ticket.

It is often the same place.
Here's the quote from Moog earlier in the thread so they already know people want it....
Seriously? They didn't think a touch keyboard would be wanted on a touch interface?
No wonder there have been so many issues with their AUv3s. I'm referring more to the Mac versions when used in Ableton, Animoog Z is a mess.
That Support ticket thing doesn't even acknowledge iPads.
I really hope they get their act together, Moog obviously are going through a lot of things with the take over and such. I was wanting to get the MoogerFooger plug ins but I think I'll hold off on them for now.
I usually hate seeing people moaning about apps on forums but Moog were genuine iOS pioneers, it's distressing seeing where things are at with them right now.
I’m confused. It’s distressing? They weren’t 100% if people were gonna use it. They communicated with users directly, confirmed we did want it, and now they’re adding it? I mean yeah it’s not perfect and shoulda been there from the start but I don’t see how that’s so awful that it’s distressing you enough to just not buy their apps at all? Am I missing something?
They’ve made arguably (and according to a lot of people) some of the best apps of last year. I guess I’m not getting it.
They released a new synth that didn’t have an inbuilt keyboard so you couldn’t play it in standalone mode. Many weeks later they still haven’t released an update with the inbuilt keyboard included.
What don't you understand? Do you not see how stupid it is to be unsure that anyone would want the MPE touch keyboard from the creators of Animoog? Do they think AUv3 is just like plugins on computer? As I said they don't even cover iPad on their support ticket. (I did fill it in but the fact it was all geared towards windows/Mac just made me cross again.)
Animoog is why I got an iPad in the first place all those years ago, they were also the reason I forked out to upgrade to an iPad Pro when Model 15 came out and it was an impeccable product. Non of these issues, they got the platform completely.
But things have changed. Are you aware that Moog have been acquired by inMusic and had to make massive cut backs and layoffs? Mariana may have even been started by a different team that have brought it to market.
AUv3 has not been a smooth transition for Moog regardless. The Model 15 transition wasn't smooth, but they got there in the end. They had to remake Animoog completely. The Mac compatibility is so under developed, Animoog Z has just been plonked in without any thought about how an iPad app with an MPE keyboard was going to operate on Mac. Maybe it works better on Bigwig or another DAW, I only use Ableton on Mac but so far I've found it lacking without the MPE of the iPad app.
It's generally disappointing and distressing seeing one of electronic musical instrument greats falling from grace. I really hope inMusic will get them somewhere good again but they are a mess right now. Mariana sounds absolutely fantastic and I'm sorry if I'm being a downer on you, as I say I don't usually moan on this forum but this really triggered me because I love Moog and I want them to get this right. Really hope they find stability and take iPad apps and AUv3 seriously going forward.

(EDIT Ok I am being harsh here, My gripe was not understanding Ableton's MPE implementation. )
Think of a beach. The sun slowly touches the horizon. A deeply red saturated sky. A calm breeze touches your skin.
Relax.
lol
We are still the same small team of people making the iOS apps and now macOS and Windows apps. We've received no reports about our AUv3s having issues that were not due to 3rd party DAW support or integration. When possible, we've worked around this in the products. Just talk to us, we love what we do and try to make the best possible products within an ever evolving ecosystem and technology stack.
Since most AUv3 DAWs have their own built-in keyboard and many DAWs have trouble recording MIDI coming from an AUv3 instrument plugin, we thought we'd save people screen estate by not including the keyboard, since we've received complaints about this in other products. We have an update for Mariana almost ready to go, including many other feature additions and improvements, it's going through the final stages of QA right now. We think you'll love this update.
Mariana standalone has a touch keyboard that is perfectly capable of expressing MPE and has been specifically implemented with Animoog's keyboard as a guide.
❤️ your friends at Moog
Dear friends at @MoogMusicInc Just missed out on the intro sale, because marketing didn’t give an end date,…so, wen sale?
❤️
Forgive my brattiness. Delighted to get this update especially about your team.
he Animoog keyboard was way ahead of its time, showing iPad music apps could be much more than just toys.
I only really use AUM and the inbuilt keyboard is very limited in comparison to the Animoog keyboard as are most iOS keyboards, within instruments and in host apps. The KB-1 app by Numerical Audio is the closest I have seen but it still not quite as good as your animoog keys.

Many years ago I messaged your team about considering having a separate AUv3 for just the Animoog keyboard (think this was around Model 15 getting the AUv3 treatment.) Perhaps you could do what apeSoft did with their iVCS3 AUv3 where they split the app into separate modules. I can't pretend I know this would be easy, it's just an idea.
Plus 1 on that !
YES
Thanks for your hard work on these apps, they're real gems. I've spent a lot of happy and inspired time with Mariana lately
