Despite pegging my iPad hard, I haven’t heard any weird artefacts in a context where resources are pushed. Doing it alongside ButterSynth as it glitches is instructive! Seems counterintuitive when it’s idle state is so hyperactive.

@Samu are you saying that some hosts can enable better plugin performance by providing a multiprocessing environment? Nice. If that’s what you mean. I assumed this was each plug-in’s responsibility.

Huge….could be Juce based because it does that molasses screen sizing in logic pro…but all is forgiven with that sound

Even if it's JUCE based developers can 'fix' the issue by allowing one to horizontally zoom the plug-in to full width of the hosts plug-in view and pan/scroll the view up/down to keep things, fonts etc. at usable sizes without having to use a magnifying glass...

Being able to toggle between “fit to width” and “fit to height” would be a quick fix for many AUv3s! But the problem with swiping to scroll is the likelihood of accidental input. All those knobs, ready to be suddenly tweaked, haha! How do other types of apps with scrolling pages of controls handle this? In synth land, I do rather like Model 15’s little map. Rymdigare tries with its hybrid vertical carousel controls, but I think it’s too fiddly, so I indeed just swipe to scroll on the main area and end up screwing things up. If I have one of @Pxlhg ’s presets open that could be very dangerous, even with a limiter in place. 😂

This is what VSTs and iPad apps have always had in common: a wonderland of frustratingly non-standard interfaces! Direct manipulation is great until you have those exceptions, and since Apple seems to intent on removing UI chrome in both touch and mouse bound interfaces, there aren’t a lot of workable options even in standard interfaces. I guess in most standard touch interfaces, direct vertical swiping doesn’t often instantly change a value. Sliders are usually horizontal in that universe. With skeuomorphic knobs, it’s much more of an issue! Damn.

Yes, some hosts have added multi-core support to process audio threads enabling us to use more plug-ins at once.
LogicPro for iPad and Cubasis 3 both have multi-core support and can host way more plug-ins at once compared to AUM.

Ha! I doubt even I can beat a limiter, should't be doable.😎😂 Not sure what happen with my batch but I was early and maybe an update screwed with them. I should probably go over them and fix it, some day I will...

To answer my own question: use tabs, don’t scroll.

Most Plug-Ins have enough 'empty space' on the sides and between UI elements to allow trouble free panning/scrolling of the UI :sunglasses:

Tabs won't really work if layout is squeezed in the middle of the screen like a postage stamp :sunglasses:

  • love this synth, it does a better job of what i was previously using Model D for. way more options for sculpting the sound and some nice, modern features too.

I think you’re exposing special frequencies that will have an effect that nobody would expect when setting what they think will be a sensible ceiling on volume. Sonic screwdriver! 🤣

Anyone experiencing Mariana being a massive CPU hog? If I add an instance to AUM, DSP goes up to 57% doing nothing.

    @HarlekinX said:
Yes, 31-34% only for existing, no sound active. 45% when switching to another patch. M2 iPad Pro.

    Yikes!

I have Dagger and so is it really necessary another bass synth? Also Subscription can give some serious low tones and free. Why would one convince me to buy this?

Also curious about this, Dagger sounds so good

Dagger for me sounds like a Modular synth.

So it’s Rymdigare’s fault for having huge knobs [runs away]…

  • Brilliant. Moog sound, decent mod routing (MPE), and envelopes with more than 2 stages :)
    Colour me instasold.

  • The Molten music video is worth watching and agree with the minor criticisms, I think the Ui could do with an alternate colour skin etc But....you can get lost in this sound, very addictive :)

  • I saved my favorites when the app was in standalone, and apparently it doesn't appear in the favorites when running in Aum/Drambo. Hope it'll get fixed in the next update, although it's not that hard to split screens and just favorite in aum the ones you favorited in standalone.
Oh and also, loving this app!

  • Ah I love a quiet Moog drop. So unassuming and refreshing

  • So far the demos sound very good. The UI is an eye candy. Still trying to justify if I need it, I already have so many cool stuff.. :#

  • Here is my first video for Moog Mariana, although not a deep tutorial I do cover a lot in this video, so hopefully it will give you a head start on programming it and it sounds, it’s a deep synth.

If you have a Mac or PC you could always try out the desktop version for 10 days to see what you’re missing (available on the Moog Music web site).

It's Moog, so you get the fat beautiful sounding oscillators and filters. From an architecture standpoint it's kind of similar to some other synths out there today (Lowtone, Zeeon, etc.) but Mariana's dual-layer architecture is unique among the Moog apps, as far as I know.

I suppose it all depends on what you're trying to do. I friggin' love Lowtone and use it a lot, but it doesn't always hit the sweet spot I want, and Mariana will hit some of those spots. Dagger/Zeeon/Model D/whatever will continue to hit other spots.

Mariana can make sounds that you won't get from any other synth app on the store right now, but of course at some level that's true of any given synth app out there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A 4pockets surface builder skin with xy controls would make this simpler to tweak. The moog ui looks beautiful but is difficult to adjust, an anachronism of what it represents visually . ReSkin could also be accomplished in loopy

    H Jon BenJamin. 👍

    My immediate thought too haha

YouTube description says it’s him! Home Movies is one of my favorite shows.

Grateful for the heads up on that! It was making me nuts.
Going to have to pull those dvd’s out. Dr Katz is awesome too.
Mariana is pretty awesome as well btw.

Definitely! I miss that era of early/mid 90s-early 00s cartoons. So many great shows. Daria, the Oblongs, Mission Hill, Beavis and Butthead, etc

Edit: and yes Mariana is very awesome.

If you have Max or HBO, Ten Year Old Tom is very much a Dr Katz/Home Movies style show in my opinion…crappy animation, improv vibe to the dialogue…a lot of comedians or celebrities doing guest roles..

The creator also did a show called The Life and Times of Tim, also on HBO, and I haven’t seen it but I’m assuming it’s the same style.

  • Any way to get the keyboard appearing inside the AUv3?

Hey! Description says keyboard is in standalone version only, at least for now.
