Yep, I picked up the original Animoog on that one, as well as Model 15. And they’d already made Model D free for quite a time during the first lockdowns. Extraordinarily generous, and in my case it factored in to my choice of hardware later. Though obviously the hardware factor doesn’t apply to most devs.
Considering that apps take a huge amount of effort to create, and on this platform devs have to subscribe to developer account (so up front costs before a line of code is written), the fact that we have any freebies is amazingly generous.
For clarity, @Luxthor I didn’t object to your post at all. Just an opinion, and I didn’t take it as disrespectful.
Meanwhile, I’m sat here dressed up as Mr I-Don’t-Need-Another-Delay itching to get my hands on this one…
Can relate to that one! I have way too many too many to man t ma t m m delays.
They’re the one plugin I don’t mind having too many of. I set multiple different delays up on Aux buses in logic and send various amounts of various tracks to them, automate the sends and overall fx volume (I group the fx into their own bus too) and end up swimming in a massive sea of delays.
Interesting to check this one out. I have a couple of space echo emus on desktop plus a load more generic tape delays but not the audiothing one.
Wires is one of my favourite delays so I’m expecting good things from audiothing.
Hahahaha I got Quantum Delay when it was released and I’ve been telling myself I reaaaally don’t need to buy another delay while furiously refreshing this thread 😂
@bygjohn I almost assumed you were sitting dressed like Santa while I was reading through the sentence, haha. 😂
@Tentype and @hghon Thank you for the kind words. 😇
Same here. Also Reels and Mantis. I’ve been splurging on AudioThing apps lately. Love ‘em all.
Same here on the same here. I somehow managed to stave off Wires.
I often reach for Bubbles. I’ve been keeping up with the lot of delay related threads recently, and I’m surprised Bubbles hasn’t gotten a single mention. Aside from taking to its sonic character, the UI is so-o friendly as an iPhone user. It is simple, yet if I want further modulation, it’s already loaded inside Drambo.
Its out ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
It’s out!!

What is it that Roland Space Echo has that other multi-tap delays like RE-1, Other Desert Cities and Timeless and the like don’t?
RE-1 is based on the Space Echo.
Audiothing's Outer Space has some features that other emulations don't. Its one of the most higly regarded of the (current) lot.
E.g. oversampling up to 16x makes for the highest possible quality sound in terms of saturation etc.
Outer Space's reverb is great, e.g. RE-1 has no reverb, separate or otherwise.
The general clue is that basically all original Space Echo machines sound different/ unique due to the analog and quirky mechanical nature of them, and thus emulations sound different too.
What are the features that this has that RE-1 and the others don’t?
I would hope it has the natural saturation of the original. I haven’t bought it yet, but I hope there’s also an emulation of tape wear that you hear when some of the original units had been in the studio for a long time. You can hear that worn sound all over a bunch of old dub reggae tracks - never quite sounds right, but that’s what gives it its character.
I added some to my other comment. Other things are individual control of the pre-amp (option to use pre-amp only) with up to 16x oversampling on that as well, individual volume and pan for the tape heads, envelope for the noise, 3 tape types, pre-emphasis setting for the tape.
Sure does. Pre-amp and echo saturation with up to 16x oversampling! And different tape options for new or old sound.
Thanks!
Sounds different, has its own UI and workflow, and is an authentic recreation of a classic? I wouldn’t compare ODC and this at all. If anything the GSI app is the closest since they’re emulating the same thing. That said…Does every app need to be drastically different?
RE-1 is a Space echo emulation as well
Is it? I always thought it was just going for a similar feel since the UI and some of the features are different. It’s a good one though I don’t use it nearly as much as others.
My question was not a criticism. It was a genuine question.
“ Does every app need to be drastically different?”
No. And it seems reasonable to me to discuss what makes one app unique so that one can evaluate whether one needs an app similar to others one has.
Fair enough. It’s more the phrasing of the question that makes it come across that way I guess. I rarely see “what does X have that X don’t?” used in a way that’s not as a slight at the thing the persons comparing.
Been waiting quite a while for this one. Bought!
Did u use it alerady? How it’s playing?
And these capitalist scrooges have the audacity to charge for it? At Christmas?!!! I guess there’ll be no parsnips for the kids this year.
I’ll be sending some ghosts your way soon.
(I just watched a Muppet Christmas Carol and bawled.)
Only tried it with electric guitar so far but it sounds awesome.
Tested all of the presets and no problems whatsoever. I did notice they significantly slimmed down the UI graphics, so keeping everything light must be critical to good performance here, I'm guessing.
Nice!
How much better is it compared to the GSI app? I’ll likely buy it after Christmas when I get paid again.
I didn’t buy the GSI because I was waiting for this one. Compared to the Space Echo in MixBox, this one has more knobs for twiddling.
