Dude!!!!! Thanx!!! Loading up now. ...
How are you running Gadget with it? Through the audio in? Or sequencing Gadget w electribe?
Both

Nice. I honestly can't put this thing down. So much fun.
I also tried Gadget with the new Electribe. Sync timing is stable but much too late (as usual with Gadget). If you play two simultaneous kick patterns on Electribe and Gadget, every beat sounds like a double hit. Tested with iPad Air and iPad Air 2 and misc. latency settings in Gadget.
I love mine too. I would've loved more sampled instruments like pianos and stuff. Maybe I'll try flashing the sampler firmware or even sell it and buy the sampler version. I don't actually need all those filters
I'm still having trouble deciding on the synth or sample model. I might hang on (if I can) to see what the sampler is like when it's released, although I may cave in ...

I'm wondering who will be the first to 'extract' the raw-samples from the Korg Electribe and make them available for the 'Electribe Sampler'
For the original Korg ES-1 it wasn't too hard to extract the samples from the 'backup' file.
(And well, all those samples are now safely imported to my Bilbao/Korg Gadget with proper names and the 'loops' in Abu Dhabi too).
The sampled instruments from the electribe sound very similar to those in Gadget. So no need to bother.
Agreed. The synth oscs are the highlight I think, the PCM stuff is really good, but not so great I'd rip it for other devices.
First run through of using the electribe and Gadget together for transitioning between patterns:
The drums and oscillator models are great, some of the PCM one shots too. But I don't like the PCM instruments. This is the same stuff from the EMX, and actually a subset.
I think they're better than the EMX stuff myself, the drum samples are lot modern sounding to me. The OSC edit knob controlling something like an exciter on the snares and cymbals in particular really gives them nice bite.
The PCM synth and acoustic instrument stuff I've never been interested in "as is", but they make great fodder for sounds once you start taking them beyond what they're supposed to be.
Do you plan to get sampler model or is it enough for you?
I'm seriously looking forward to the Electribe Sampler and keep reloading Korg support pages waiting for the user-guide to pop up to see how flexible the sample-editing features will be... It will be a perfect companion to Gadget
Not sure about the sampler version, I'm waiting to see what it can do and how it works. Based on how the electribe works, I'd be slightly more inclined to get an Octatrack again if I wanted to manipulate samples on stage. But that's just a guess since we really don't know anything concrete about the sampler yet.
I'm really hoping the unit is able to be flashed with the sampler version firmware. I like the synth version but I am really waiting to see what the sampler can do.
Here's those 2 videos I've been trying to upload for yonks:
Samplr + electribe:
Egoist + electribe:
Here's mine
Sorry but I was too lazy to record the audio separately. I'll repost a soundcloud link.
It's cool that using Event Recorder you record a whole performance, and then when ready... sample the whole song in Ableton.
Also I ran out of polyphony sometimes during the video. So... you should be careful in a live situation. Luckily you can prioritize parts... like the chords for instance.
how did the rumor about flashing the "M" with the sampler get started? Presumably Korg have designed both to work hand in glove with their specific hardware interfaces. If you could flash one with the other, that would make me question how integrated the hardware design is -- in which case, what's the point?
I think James Pullen mentioned it off the cuff in one of the early demos. Sounded like he was just wishful thinking though and a lot of people jumped on it like it was really going to happen. I can't seem them cannibalizing their own sales now by offering this, though it sure is a neat idea ala the Aira range.
I believe the Sampler version has some storage memory chips for extra memory. So I guess there IS a difference in hardware. When I'm talkig about cross firmware I'm thinking that a good developer might hack it a little bit to make it work :P wishful thinking also.
ah, i see.
maybe they'll let you connect them via USB to further encourage people to buy both.
We will end with two electribes, at the end
My video review of the Korg Electribe is now live!

Almost perfect camera angle, apparently casual but good to watch your fingers on the triggers. Thanks.
I literally grabbed the camera 5 seconds before I started playing, almost as an after thought, thus the hand blocking the shot for part of it. Luckily it mostly worked out.
Thanks to all three guys for the great videos. Can't wait for the Sampler Tribe.
But I really hope Korg will allow 8 bars soon. Yesterday I compared some factory patterns between EMX and the new Tribe. The 4 bar limitation is clearly the reason why most of the new Tribe's factory patterns are so boring. The music has no room to evolve.
Yes, thanks for the videos. In Tarekith's video he mentioned that you can't copy a pattern? smh. Really? Is there no 'save as' or anything?
Kind of blown away at all of the improvements over the old ones. Nice little bits of thoughtfulness like the tempo lock and pattern level.
A little bummed at a single modulation source but motion sequencing will hopefully make that less of an issue than I'm imagining.
You can save as. Press WRITE and select destination. Just as old electribes. I remember the old ones had tempo lock also. But I might be wrong.
What bums me is that on the old EMX you could copy part from another pattern too. Let's say I had a nice lead in a house beat and I wanted to use it in my new beat. You can't do that now, or at least I haven't figured it out.
YOu can only copy a part and duplicate it to another pad. Just the sound, or the sound + notes.
But these are minor stuff... I would've bought it only for size + battery power alone anyway.
I'm really curious if the sampler will be able to play sampled notes poliphonically, like the oscilators. it would be very dumb not to.
