@mrufino1 didnt know that these sales were everywhere/prevalent... at least you have the willpower to be discriminating and not treat plugins as pokemon. :)

Believe me, I have no lack of plugins. I’m trying hard right now to avoid buying things just because they are a deal, but I’m not always strong enough. I’m trying to wait until I have an issue that nothing I have will fix, then look for the right tool to solve that issue. But, I’ve filled and emptied my uad cart quite a few times in the past 2 months. Emptying it has ultimately won. But then I’ve been getting guitar pedals, so the addiction just switches focus I guess.

Everyone seems to be advertising “90% off” though, and it’s 90% off of prices that are never the real price anymore. Some of the plugins were $300 years ago but are now regularly $29-$49.

Still, if there is something you need, then those prices are good.

I have been thinking about this too, FOMO: Fear Of Missing Out, some of these plugins are “always” on sale with MSRP being 5% of their shelf life. Marketers appear to be playing on our FOMO, taking strong products and offering them at reasonable prices with MSRP hovering us, but in reality the MSRP is hardly the reality. Waves is always on sale, Arturia offers their Collections at a fraction of the price several instances yearly. The Elephant in the Room is: do you need what you are buying? For me, I have found myself with new tools because of sales. Very few of my buys have been useless, I force myself to use them in a song immediately - but overlap is definitely a thing, although the importance of UI and presets are often discounted: the plugins are easier to get results from and more inspiring because of it.

Perhaps we should demo more desktop options before biting at every deal?

Most definitely. People really need to get wise to these kind of pricing systems. Nobody really needs or has the time to use hundreds or thousands of plugins. If ppl want to support devs, that's fine, that's great actually, but a lot of people are spending money they really don't have, because app buying can be every bit as addictive as substance abuse type addiction. Consequences might not be as bad, in most cases, but still...

    Great point about addiction!
This appears to be a slippery slope: even the biggest plugin companies are still tiny compared to even midsized companies in business. I love supporting developers even when I may not use my latest purchase as often, so I can help support their next creation that I will use. Music making is not exactly a cash cow, although imagine our world without music. Maybe THIS is what we are doing without realizing it: keeping great developers doing what they do best 🙌 when we buy into their sales. It’s like we are investors.

FOMO. Consumerism - capitalism - "capitalizes" on our instinct to gather and hunt for our survival. Except now it's been hijacked and perverted. MHOP

I will never understand how software deals are calculated at IK Multimedia, but here they are anyway. I have a number of their plugins (T-RackS 5 Max v2, MODO Bass 2 and MODO Drum, among others) and they have generally performed fairly well for me. T-RackS especially is a sound tweaker's dream. So many options:

Have you actually bought anything from this site? I find their inaccuracy in the checkout screen a bit disturbing, which gives me great pause. It says you must visit the AudioThing website... to redeem and download software from Oblivion Sound Lab...

Reminds me of emails telling me my bank account has been compromised and I must click on the supplied link to reset my password.

They’re legit. They’ve been going for years. I haven’t bought anything from them personally but I’ve seen people on other forums that have good things to say. The owners also have other sites that aren’t shutting down.

As for the inaccuracies I know what you mean but it’s very common. I put it down to forgetting to change all the details after a copy and paste

OK, thanks for the comments. I think If they're shutting down anyway it represents too much of a risk in my opinion that a redemption code could possibly fail and then I'd be out my money and a software license.

Saw this interesting video pop up in my YouTube timeline and thought I'd post this new plugin developer's story and their first plugin. Listen to the demos. I'm hearing some very cool effects from this thing.

This is not an endorsement, just thought I'd pass it along. And he has an intro sale on his plugin right now, $35 instead of regular price $50.

  • edited August 3

I jumped on this deal and failed to notice it requires the installation of additional software to activate it (Beatport Access). I have no interest in it now and will be requesting a refund. But the code provided did in fact work.

no, you can just download the installer from your PB account page, worked for me .. without this Beatport thing (which I also wouldn't want)

Reading over their instructions it requires this additional software. Regardless, I've lost all interest in it.

  • now you can get the 'T-RackS Studio Bundle' from IK for free at Plugin Boutique with code naka178u

contains Space Delay, White Channel and Tape Machine 440

the IK tapes are actually very good but heavy on cpu

  • again passing this over from Gearspace, the Brainworx bx_masterdesk PRO is $19.99 (plus tax) until August 31 at Plugin Alliance, must be logged in to see the price

seems like a pretty good deal, it's the most capable out of the various versions

Oh, as I said, I just passed on the info. But tested it before and it showed $19.99 for me too. Might depend on what you already have then. The new bx_aura reverb is also $19.99 for me. Still not sure if I need or want any of these two.

Sorry, but they still have a 'pick any 2-3-4 plugins for $49.99 / $59.99 / $69.99' campaign going, if that helps.

Not much left that I would want and the few I would be interested (Kirchhoff EQ for instance) are excluded.

  • Hey, thanks, code worked perfectly!
