Do you need to download the individual synth apps to get the additional sounds like in gadget 2 ?
Yepp, and now I’m quite sure the others will follow, iM1, iWaveStation etc.
Great news!! But…
Seems a bit flaky with the purchased status of AU Gadgets… I am told I don’t own Gladstone (which I do) but it seems happy to let me access Sydney (which I don’t own).
Also, tells me to do a restore - but can’t seem to find where the restore button has gone???
Anybody knows if Gadget can be installed on external drive? I didn't find that information in app store description.
Incredible news for an incredible app from an incredible company !!!
Yeah I didn't belive until I saw it on my ipad screen
KORG likes to disappoint but also surprise
Just click on the Gladstone Icon in the shop window in Gadget and it will reload and become available. For me it was the only one to act like this.
Really, this is an astonishing free upgrade. Purchased Santa Ana almost out of a sense of duty.
Of all the things that could have happened while I was asleep, this would probably be the last thing I would have expected during my breakfast surf. Gadget auv3, good morning!
Great tip, thanks! 👍
Glad your day got better @Poppadocrock
Holy. Shit.
We thought it is abandonware, but turned out Korg Devs are absolute savage giga chads !
I wouldn't want to be a developer releasing a new synth app this week...
I suspect that Doug has contacts at Korg...?
No iOS app can be installed on an external drive.
Some let you store samples there. Gadget doesn’t. All user samples are imported into the app.
This is truly a great day in the iOS music world, only thing to eclipse it would be audio tracks in NS2! 😉
those are not available as AU anyway .. just all build in Gadget machines, not those whic area available also as standalone app .. hope in future they add them (don't see reason why no)
❤️
I’m probably not gonna get the new gadgets but as someone that has worked heavily in gadget for years now, the MIDI updates are a fucking godsend. Copy and paste across regions, arps recording midi, and the new play function with surface controls. This and AU makes up for that absolute dog crap VR app they released.
Metronome volume added (!!!)
Santa Ana looks like a loop player. Anyone know if this loads other samples and if not does this limit the potential of the app?
LOL!
Genuine question:
I’ve never tried Gadget, but own almost every other iOS sequencer, grooveapp, synth etc. I’ve got a lot.
I still haven’t found the golden workflow. Use my phone/ipad a as a sketchbook and sound design tool and always finish my tracks on my Macbook. Like patchwork. I like to create quick sketches and to optimise them later. I never use presets or commercial loops in my final tracks.
I’m always searching for better workflow. I own a Korg NAnokey.
What would I benefit in getting Korg Gadget?
Thanks
Thanks. I meant system similar to Gospel Musicians apps - core of app on iPad and other data on external drive.
It’s early in the year to have a Best Release of 2024, but what the hell…
Honestly, nothing. I use Korg specifically because of the presets, loops, and simplicity. It allows me to focus on arrangement and simple mixing. The gadgets are made to be simple so you can quickly get to a usable sound. If you have a ton of tools, buying an entire DAW isn’t going to do anything other than give you another toy to play with or a serious tool to spend more time learning instead of making music.
I think I have a workflow something similar using Gadget, however it did mean getting Gadget for Mac - and using Ableton…
I can export a Gadget project to Ableton and it comes up exactly the same in Ableton, with all the Gadgets, and then you can go to town as much as you want…
Do you export a liveset with printed audio or do you mean export to gadget on desktop and opening gadget in live?
If the first and they would add auv3s inside gadget, that would be the end of me trying to find complicated workarounds to get something from the iPad into Ableton.
Note and Koala if you're using Ableton on the Mac, and Logic for iPad if you're using Logic. Or Drambo, and export stems.
Haha thank You - appreciate a honest reply!
This is the answer I know deep down…I’ve already got a long list of serious tools I need to learn.
But I also like toys and old school grooveboxes
Gadget is my favourite sandbox. The new gadgets and EQ would be exciting enough on their own, but this is a fantastic surprise. Apple’s port of Logic Pro to iPad showed they were finally committed to supporting music production on iOS, so I’m hoping we’ll see more big names join the platform. Good to see Korg leading the way.
