So I watched the Sydney video posted earlier, but I'm not sure what the point of the instrument is - is it just so you can play synced loops? What's the benefit?

I don't have it, but I'm guessing you just use it like any other sampler.

You could loop the sample for a drum backing track. Or you could trigger samples to play at various points in you track. Or jump between samples using the 6 big buttons for live playing. And it looks like it has an import button to bring in your own sounds.

There seems to be a glitch at the moment where the AU works in AUM, probably other hosts as well. You don’t get the library sounds but you can import your own. It keeps the loops in sync with the host tempo which is nice but probably more useful in the standalone I reckon.

  • I was 110% convinced they are done with ios. Thank you Korg for proven me wrong ❤️

  • Wow! This happens while i’m in bed with the flu.
Can’t wait to dive in to check out the new features in Gadget (and the 2 new gadgets).

    In Korg we trust™

  • Damn you Korg! Just as I was getting used to just making music using mainly Logic I have to dust down all my old gadgets? 🙏🏼😂

  • So, what are the new Gadgets like? Useful as AUv3s or too similar to other apps? I have quite a few loopers, but the guitar thing sounds interesting.

  • Santa Ana looks like fun with amp/cabinet + FX settings. I see an import button. Love using stuff like this out of context.

  • It’s a nice surprise for pre-AUv3 iOS music veterans because there was less choice back then for this kind of thing so most people bought Gadget + lots of iAPs. Some of the app update features is also very nice.

  • The news that the ARP Odyssey might finally be usable as an AUv3 has even woken tk32 from his slumber!

  • This is brilliant news

And if you are looping something like a drum backing track it does time stretching, which you couldn’t do before…

Ah OK, the time stretching is what makes this one different - thanks!

And tempo sync to the project on import…

  • Over all Gadget 3.0 is a nice update but sampling and internal resampling is still quite a chore with export and import...
...Imagine if the 'sampler gadgets' had an option to directly sample any available input or track on the fly?

  • Here is my first video for the new features in Gadget 3

That's also my point, it should be possible to record directly in ALL sample-based gadgets. That would be a real enrichment and you could record your gear much more efficiently without interrupting the workflow.

  • Wow six pages already.

  • I think the genre select will only be useful for me if they allow it to combine differents parts from your own saved tracks, can't see it being useful otherwise.

  • Cool and surprising update!

Gadget was my first foray into iOS music-making. Always enjoyed it, though eventually the lack of song mode/inability to sustain a note between 16-bar sections drove me elsewhere (NS2).

It’ll be fun to open up those gadgets in NS2 now!
Fingers crossed for iWavestation. Or better yet: Wavestate AUv!!

    Cleverly chosen city for Sant(a)Ana.

    Ohh..NOW I get it.

  • I love the speed of creation in Gadget. This is pretty rough, and took twenty minutes to knock up, but it was a lot of fun.

  • Oh my.

    Oh my my.

Did NOT see this one coming at all.

Fantastic news and thank you Korg!

  • i definitely gonna buy 1-2 gadgets i don‘t own (not many) or even need to spread some ❤️

    Great news!! But…

Seems a bit flaky with the purchased status of AU Gadgets… I am told I don’t own Gladstone (which I do) but it seems happy to let me access Sydney (which I don’t own).

Same here / deal! Now I get to try Sydney heh

It is not an AUV3 host it seems. This is surprising how great the sequencer is to work with. Hope I’m wrong.

Yah would be great but I don't think Korg would want to risk Gadget stability with outside plugins.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Yeah Sydney is pretty fun, although not sure if I really need it outside Gadget with the other AU sampler options...

  • M1 and Wavestation in auv3 would be quite special

  • So has anyone figured out how to import into either of the new gadgets?

Easy, just dump your files into the Gadget folder and browse from within the Gadgets...
    ...or use the import function.
