  • Well well well. This one just might find its way back to my iphone and ipad.
    No hidden subscribtions yet?🤪

  • I’m feeling my Korg glass heading up past half full! The missus loves the sound of Helsinki but we never found a good substitute… now no need! It seems very likely that the standalone apps will get AUv3 updates at some point, of those I currently only have iWAVESTATION from long ago, so Korg may well be getting some pennies out of me in future.

    Genuine question:
I’ve never tried Gadget, but own almost every other iOS sequencer, grooveapp, synth etc. I’ve got a lot.

I still haven’t found the golden workflow. Use my phone/ipad a as a sketchbook and sound design tool and always finish my tracks on my Macbook. Like patchwork. I like to create quick sketches and to optimise them later. I never use presets or commercial loops in my final tracks.

I’m always searching for better workflow. I own a Korg NAnokey.

What would I benefit in getting Korg Gadget?

    Thanks

I think I have a workflow something similar using Gadget, however it did mean getting Gadget for Mac - and using Ableton…

I can export a Gadget project to Ableton and it comes up exactly the same in Ableton, with all the Gadgets, and then you can go to town as much as you want…

Interesting. I don’t use Ableton though but export audio to edit/mix in Logic on Mac. Logic on iOS never worked for me…to bloated.

  • I was tidying up my iPad yesterday, lamenting that I was putting all the korg apps into a separate folder as I never use them for lack of Au3. Then log into this forum this morning and….. wow

  • Morning. Let's check the news.

    .. Spits out tea.

Do you export a liveset with printed audio or do you mean export to gadget on desktop and opening gadget in live?

If the first and they would add auv3s inside gadget, that would be the end of me trying to find complicated workarounds to get something from the iPad into Ableton.

If you buy the Mac version of Gadget, you also get all the Gadgets as AUs and VSTs - and in Gadget on iOS you can export as an Ableton set. This means you open up exactly the same project in Ableton, with all the Gadgets still available… I never use the actual Gadget app on the Mac…

If the Looper was really a Sampler, with an Imput an a Recordfunction like the Bosslooper rc 505, for example, it would have been really cool. Not really interesting for me as a sampleplayer. I`d rather have the Abu Dhabi, at least it can glitch and manipulate the sound source nicely.

  • 2024 + Hell hath frozen over.. thank you kindly Korg..

That didn't occur to me as I was really wondering what it is, more than what it could have been. But yes, RC505 would have been amazing. I still don't really know what it is though. A guitar loop library?

  • All good news! According to the app store, this is now IOS 13 and above - fine for one of my ipads, but my older ipad air 1 won't like it. Does anyone know if the older versions will still work if updates are turned off?

The older versions will still work even if updates are left on. The app will only update to the latest version supported by the installed OS version.

Sorry for the confusion, i made a mistake with the name. i thought it referred to sidney, because the look suggests it's close to a looper.
I also think that Santa Ana is a guitar loop library.

See that end bit, “please wait until apps are supported” !? It’s coming

My dream is iM1 and iWavestation as Audio Units so that’s actually huge for me. Good on Korg for making this happen.

    Yep, same here!

  • Is this a new function or did Gadget 2 do the transfer thing between devices?

  • It is not an AUV3 host it seems. This is surprising how great the sequencer is to work with. Hope I’m wrong.

  • Seeing these screenshots of gadgets as separate plugins in AUM, makes you wish you could buy each Gadget AU separately, not as an IAP.

I only want Stockholm, don't care for the rest. Perhaps I'm missing out on other goodies, but I always found the whole Korg ecosystem too expensive to buy into (and I don't want anymore workflows  )

I guess it will never happen, though.

  • Good job Korg. Please add icons for the AUv3's, it’s so much easier when you can navigate those long AUv3 lists with a visual input (and in this case remember name=which gadget)

At least in EG Nodes you can save them and name them as Nodes.

  • This is awesome.

  • I guess there is no more excuse for me, I need to touch that magic finally. 🫣

Thanks. That's a bit disappointing if it is just a library. Hopefully there is a video sometime to show what it can do.

I'm pretty sure that respected SoundTestRoom, SoundForMore, etc. channels won't miss this topic ;)

Yep! Very happy for the Gadget users but the free Gadget trial never clicked with me, and i don’t think AUv3 will change that…but the sale means i can snap up both iElectribe versions for the price of 1 B)

I’ll wait for the summer sale, AU compatibility has unlocked the door for me. It will be too overwhelming and time-consuming if I do a deep dive into the Korg universe right now.

  • So I watched the Sydney video posted earlier, but I'm not sure what the point of the instrument is - is it just so you can play synced loops? What's the benefit?

  • There are a couple of SC previews for Santa Ana:

  • I updated all my ios devices. It still runs great on my iphone SE from 2016, which I consider my most pocketable groovebox. The only thing left is make Gadget an au3v host, that would be the end game for me.

I don't have it, but I'm guessing you just use it like any other sampler.

You could loop the sample for a drum backing track. Or you could trigger samples to play at various points in you track. Or jump between samples using the 6 big buttons for live playing. And it looks like it has an import button to bring in your own sounds.
