[OUT] Auto Fills - Drum Fill MIDI Generator

Edit: App is out!

Hey all, I'm working on one of my dream apps - Auto Fills, an app for generating drum fills! I never liked creating drum fills with sequencers or on a piano roll. It's too much boring and time consuming work, especially if you don't get them! But a drum fill every once in 4 bars or so is crucial for most of the music. So, I decided to make this super easy to use app just for creating drum fills.

The idea is simple, you continue using your fav drum sequencer app (mine is octochron) for the regular drum pattern, and let Auto Fills play the drum fill, lets say once every 4-bars.

  • You can set the fill length as well as the waiting time before or after the fill, in beats or bars.
  • You can randomise the fill everytime.
  • If you are using a drum sequencer like octachron, you can route it through Auto Fills and let Auto Fills block the drum sequencer during the drum fill.

You can create your own drum kit or use a kit template for apps or hardware synths. A kit includes drum parts and you can assign a probability value, velocity (and variation), MIDI note and MIDI channel to each.

  • Density parameter lets you include/exclude notes from the drum fill
  • Voices parameter sets the maximum number of drum parts can play together at the same time
  • Rate sets the drum fill speed
  • Patterns are as usual, create as many as you want and sequence them with PatternBud.

If you are a lazy person like me and love generative music I'm sure you're going to love this app. TBH, I wasn't expecting to love this app this much during the development but my jaw dropped on my first tests. Looking forward to hear your comments on this!

Let me know if you'd like to participate the beta and want to give me feedback!
(BTW it 'can be' a melody generator as well, but I never tried.)

  • Amazing! Would love to test it, also a Octachron user so I can report on that.

  • Great. I’m very interested in this one 😊

Oh, that looks really promising, thank you @cem_olcay.
One thing is not clear for me: How to use autofills with sequencers with built-in samples, like Digistix2 . Can I have 2 Digistix instances in one track, one for sequencing and one for samples?

  • Oh, now that looks like it’s going to be really useful!

I’ll be happy to wait till it’s finished, though I wouldn’t mind checking out the beta. @cem_olcay

  • that's the best idea you ever had! @cem_olcay

  • Cool idea, @cem_olcay ! Looking forward to try this out 🤩

  • As always good luck
    Sounds great
Am sure another winner from you

  • Totally up for testing

  • Yes for me. This sounds really powerful.

  • I would like to try this :)

  • This is just what I need! I’d love to test.

  • Now this I like. Great for melodic stuff too...👍

  • Looks great for group jamming as well 🤘

  • Great idea. I’ll be eager to add this one to the collection. Cheers Cem 🍻

  • DM sent!!

  • I’m getting great feedbacks, glad you guys like the app! I’m planning to release this version on Feb 2, Friday.

BTW I recorded quick videos on octachron->auto fills->hammerhead workflow

And with hardware synths, auto fills playing Drumbrute Impact!

Great example, I'm really looking forward.
Let me ask you, would it be possible to use 2 Auto Fills instances on one drum track, @cem_olcay? My idea is to use the first one for subtle changes in the middle of the pattern and second one as a normal fill at the end of the pattern.

  • Looks really, really useful. Can't wait to see what some of the talented folks out there do with it after it's released, so I can steal their ideas, lol.

  • @cem_olcay you know I’m interested. Gracias¡

  • Just dropping off some flowers for one of my favorite devs @cem_olcay 💐

This guy makes apps like he’s eavesdropping on my brain. Great, simple solutions that make essential parts of music production easier.

I’ll be buying this at launch of course.

  • This is such a clever idea.

Sure, you can use multiple instances.

Thank you! It will be long 2 days for me :)

  • I released a beta version with a few UI fixes. I also submit the app to the App Store. Fingers crossed for the launch on Friday!

The landing page is also ready.
