How many threads have I asked how to do fills!!?? Am I right those who know me!?

Awesome. These apps are always 5 star

    Good luck Cem

It's one of my dream apps too! I've never liked writing drum fills 😅

  • Downloaded and very cool app. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, but I don't see anything happen when I tap on generate in terms of the parameters changing on the screen. Does anyone else notice a change when tapping the generate button?

Generate button regenerates the drum fill. Parameters don't change when you press the generate button, but it generates a drum fill respecting the parameters you've set.

I might add a randomise button next to generate button for randomising the parameters in the next version though.

So far, very cool. I like where this is going, and it directly addresses something that’s been commanding my attention recently. Nicely done, and I look forward to seeing how it develops.

Observation: it doesn’t seem to “let go” right after its last note? Even with the Wait set to zero, the downbeat of the non-fill pattern is silent, so I get a kind of pause in the beat.

Just playing around with the app. Extremely useful and lots of fun.
@cem_olcay is there an option to manually trigger a fill rather than inserting it automatically at specific intervals? I would love to be able to send a note or CC message to the app to trigger a one shot fill.

  • @cem_olcay
This one might be my favourite of your many great works. Love it, well done mate 🍻

  • @cem_olcay Here is my video for the most excellent Auto Fills with lots of case uses.

@thesoundtestroom Thank you Doug. Could I ask you about routing in your Digistix example? I don't get how did you route AutoFills output back to the same Digistix instance. I thought I need one Digistix for playing base pattern (no sound), route its MIDI output to AutoFills and then to another Digistix (FAC drums, Ting ..) for drum sounds.

  • @cem_olcay This is a really great release. Congratulations! 👏

  • Simple and effective. A clever and cool app

  • @filo01 Hi, super simple, just route the midi output from Auto Fills to DigiStix, that’s it, Auto Fills takes care of everything else, that’s all I did anyway.

  • Oh wait, not that kind of drum Phil, then…

  • @cem_olcay you done good with this one mate, and saved me hours of midi fiddling and recording

(Q is there a scale mode preset or at least C major? I just saw a lot of drum mapping)

You can assign any MIDI note in Note mode and trigger. There’s no scales because they don’t make sense in a drum app but you can create your own ofc

Yes, there are lots of templates for apps and hardware synths.

😂😂 it would just play the drum fill from In the Air Tonight every time

  • Anybody know if this will play nicely in EG Nodes? Like can you have a Rhythm node and also feed AutoFills into it for the fills and the "Block incoming MIDI" overrides the Rhythm?

Maybe @cem_olcay or @ElliottGarage has the other app and can check?

  • As a drummer I find this app offensive. My entire life as a drummer all I’ve heard is to stop playing so many fills, and then you have the nerve to release an app that does what we drummers are yelled at for?! How dare you!!!

    🤪

    Haha
He should add: “Constant tuning of toms whenever the rest of the band is silent”

I'm not buying that one 😐

But seriously, this is pretty cool. One idea (my be too complex to warrant it), have an option that “listens” to the incoming midi to see what instruments are being played and not being played, then have an option to choose to add fills/variation to either the instruments being used, or add fills to the instruments not being used.

That’s essentially what a real drummer would do… Add embellishments to the main groove (ie snare ghost notes, hihat flurish, extra kick hits) OR a fill on the instruments that are not part of the main groove (typically toms, crashes, etc).

I suppose you can kinda do it now with two instances, one for embellishing and one for full-on fills. Maybe make embellishment just for hat, snare and kick like every 2 bars, and full fill on toms and cymbals (or cowbell!) every 4 or 8…

This app is so cool, maybe one of the best yet and I have them all. I can even imagine it being used on notes in scale to add little flourishes after piano chords, or adding a little melody into a simple chord pattern.

Couple quick question… does each pattern at the bottom save the fill, and all the settings? If so that’s amazing. You can move through different fills with CC… so many possibilities. I’m buying right now!

Also can you set scales if you want to use notes for synths/keys instead of drums?
Update - I see @cem_olcay mentioned no scales, you can make your own but I can see at least the basic scales being a valuable addition. Imagine adding little flourish’s on the piano, in between chords playing. Could turn a chopped progression into a motif or simple guitar chords into a riff…

Generate button regenerates the drum fill. Parameters don't change when you press the generate button, but it generates a drum fill respecting the parameters you've set.

I might add a randomise button next to generate button for randomising the parameters in the next version though.

    That would be cool too.

I'm gonna answer my own question. It is possible but takes 3 nodes.

The Rhythm node (with no instrument) feeds the MIDI FX node (which houses Auto Fills) and that feeds the instrument node. This changes everyth... well, maybe not everything, but changes a lot.

    I see that here too.

Also, why, if I set kit to zero for a hit, do I still get fills that use that hit? I even tried setting velocity also to zero, but I still hear that hit.

I really don’t want hand claps during a fill, but I can’t get rid of ‘em. 😐
