Tuesday exploration:
Some more explorations on the DT][
nice.. why so short, i like when those soundscapes arr slowly flowing for +10minutes …
Thanks. On vacation with the family so I’m just capturing what i can when i have the time. I’m really loving this little box. Finally i have my hardware version of Drambo that i can remember how to use 🤪
Here’s another short cook up:
New firmware update (v1.02) and new update to Transfer dropped today! Fixed the double event issues I was having on Track button presses. Also seems to have improved Transfer issues.
Make sure to update Transfer first before you update your firmware. As always, backup your projects.

I just ordered a DT2 and should have it tomorrow. I’m so excited.
For those that have it, are (most of) the bugs figured out? I’m pretty clued in to the Elektron community, having visited their forums for years but I’m having a hard time figuring out what the current status is of all of the various release bugs and annoyances.
Woo hoo, my DT2 arrives today, can’t wait!
I think the upcoming software update is going to cross a lot of the list.
Well, got my DT2 and already flying around in it. Very intuitive if you've used Elektron gear before, very few things I've had to look in the manual for. Pretty sweet how much power they crammed into this little box, I think it might replace my Octatrack in my live sets for awhile.
I was surprised by the quality of the included samples too, usually I'm not a fan of the ones Elektron give you. Nice.
good point, surprisingly a lot of very usable sounds !
@drez thanks!
Congrats @Tarekith Welcome to the club.
I love mine and am just hoping for 2 fixes/updates to the device.
1. Fix Attack Pop issue so that Grid Samples don't pop on playback — it ignores any adjustments to the Attack to resolve the issue
2. Allow user to adjust Start times of Grid slices so it's not fixed in the Grid
I have to say I’m pretty impressed with the DT2. Elektron did a good job of learning from their previous machines and making things more intuitive. Menu layouts, recording samples, finding all your Trigs, etc are all much easier than say the OT. Sample management is a little clunky, but not too bad once you get used to it.
Only major downside for me is realizing I’ve rinsed and repeated my current sample collection so many times I’m frankly sick of them all and now need hunt down new samples to feed this thing. Always one of the downside (for me) when it comes to sample based gear
Maybe this will be the nudge I need to give Slice a try….
I spent 5 or 6 hours with my DTII today, mostly re-familiarizing myself with Elektron (I had a M:S for a few years a few years ago).
This machine is amazing and, as they say, I’ve barely scratched the surface. One thing (of many) I’m really juiced on is the bit crush/sample rate reduction and chorus.
Sampling from my iPad couldn’t be easier, and so far the stock samples are great too.
They've included a lot of synthetic percussion samples, maybe to make up for the lack of more advanced internal synthesis options.
Real-world sampling explorations can be fun, more sources for synthetic sound making can be found on the Drambo section on Patchstorage. Just search for "random".
Do you still have your MC707 and how does it compare. Could you use DT2 as the heart of a midi setup for sequencing duties etc…
Yep. Still have and use the 707 regularly, love that box. You could definitely use the DT2 as the heart of a midi set up, it has some pretty slick features for that too. Downside is only 4 note polyphony per track in midi mode, which might be a deal breaker for some.
I’ll be honest, I pretty much never use the mid sequencing functionality of my groove boxes preferring to keep them self-contained. I think the DT2 has the slight edge here though compared to the 707; more tracks, midi presets, kit reload, etc.
Thanks Tarekith.
Nice, good little flow there. What are you feeding your DT2?
