I’m not at my machine right now, but later I’ll look and see if anything looks unique, and see if it’s still showing in the AppStore for me.
We both are running the latest macOS on m1 machines, so if it works for me it should work for you
Yes please do let me know. I even tried a reboot.
@Froggo_Lab I really appreciate how well laid out and clear the interface is.
One suggestion. I figured it out in the manual, how to know which LFO is assigned to which parameter, that you use the inner and outer rings, but they are not super clear or obvious. What if you had it so that when the assign button is tapped for an LFO and goes yellow that any parameters currently being modulated by that LFO also go yellow. Maybe simple as a dot or as complex as a highlight of some sort or changing the orange ring to yellow until the assign button is untapped. When I had multiple params being modulated and got into play it was difficult to remember which parameter was associated with which LFO. My other idea was to have a different color to each LFO and then color the innner and outer rings of any modulated params appropriately, as that would also help visually.
Ditto but I found it by searching dev I think
Been using the beta a lot, just purchased to support! Love it and appreciate you @Froggo_Lab !
I just tried to find Async Sampler on macOS AppStore again. It didn't come up via search by app name OR developer for macOS or iPad/iOS.
However, if I login, go to my iPad/iOS purchases... it's right there and available for download.
@Froggo_Lab are there still openings on the beta? Bought the app and would love to be part of the beta team!
Not for me. You're saying you go to Account Settings in the Mac App Store and scroll down to Purchase History, select the entry for Async Sampler, click the > next to price to reveal more details, there is a download option? I see nothing like that. Searching for Sergei or Zhulkov reveals nothing in the upper left App Store search box.
This is a curious mystery. I wonder if you somehow were grandfathered in, because you already downloaded, prior to a change that took place? Like maybe something about build 1.0.3 changed the way it appears in the App Store on a Mac?
Well, I thought of that. I’d delete and redownload to confirm… but I’d rather keep it installed if that’s the case. Except @Jumpercollins was able to download to desktop too.
I just checked my installed version and it's a previous version than the one currently in the AppStore and it's not giving me the option to update my installed version to the latest.
So, my guess is that @Froggo_Lab turned off the macOS install for some reason. I hope it stays on macOS because it works well on desktop and passes all but one validation test in Logic.
Hello everyone! We have temporarily paused M1 macOS support until we test the stability
The app should work smoothly in GarageBand
Thanks a lot!! It's great to hear that
Thanks a lot! Yeah, we're thinking the LFO assign indicator might not be clear enough, so we're planning to tweak the UI to make it better.
No active beta versions for testing right now, but if we need testers, I'll keep you in mind - thanks. Please DM me.
This is what I figured. As everything in the app is so well and tightly designed, I figured if there was even the slightest hiccup on macOS, you’d pull it until addressed.
Glad it’s a temporary pause though, because I’m loving this app on desktop almost as much as on mobile
Well that definitively explains it, just as we collectively came to the same conclusion.
I really appreciate the app on ios but also purchased it because I've been looking for a sampler on the desktop that was as easy and straightforward as this, and I have trialed a lot of them. Hope to see it return to the macOS app store soon.
Regarding our big sale: some people who bought our app at full price felt upset when we announced the sale. We're really sorry about that. We didn't think it would upset anyone. We thought sales were common in the world of audio software. This is our first app, and we're not good enough at marketing yet. We apologize again to anyone who felt bad about our sale. If you're upset, please DM us, and we'll try to offer you a discount or even free access to our next products. Next time, we promise to be more careful with our pricing.
That's gracious of you.... You didn't do anything that hasn't happened before. The bad feelings always happen around a sale but that's not something you did wrong. Async has been out for some time... It's not like you dropped the price after a few weeks.
Have to say, bought async and love it. Bit smashed up to drill down into any more detail than that right now, but nice nice niiice
Record function. Please
☝️
Do you mean "record audio input from another app" (which would be great) or just "record and export what I have made in Async"?
Good question. I mean record external audio into each sample lane.
I’ve cleared a bit of space on my iPad, so almost ready to buy, but just a quick query for anyone using the app already:
Do the loops remain in time with each other in ‘sync’ mode, even when the sample lengths are changed? I’ve watched all the videos, and (I think) this seems to be the case, if so does this mean the selections are time stretched, or does the pitch change to make them fit in sync? I guess even if the pitch changes this can be further tweaked by the pitch setting?
Basically most of my audio clips are not nicely cropped or matched to a particular beat, but if I could load up three samples, make three selections via the start/length and sync options, and for them to play and match the host tempo then this would be a really useful and unique feature.
Cheers
Not yet, but it's on our to-do list
Synchronization is based on the file length, and when you change the start and length, everything remains in tempo but becomes polyrhythmic. In sync mode, the start and length can be quantized with a step of 1/16. If your samples are not pre-edited to represent rhythmic loops, this will be a problem — Async Sampler won't be able to play them correctly in sync mode.
Ah ok thanks, I was hoping this would work in a similar way to Ableton where it warps a highlighted sample section to fit the tempo (or in this case, it might change the playhead speed to make it fit).
If I've got this correct, in sync mode the selector snaps to a 1/16 grid, so this would keep everything in sync, but samples would need to be cropped for accurate rhythmic work.
Limits it's use for me a bit, but could still be useful for soundscapes.
Yes, currently it works like this. Perhaps in the future, we'll add a basic editor with a cropping function, but for now, it remains as described above.
@Froggo_Lab
Addition to the click issue: it also happens in random loop mode on every loop point
Feature Request: time offset (in sync mode) per loop would make it extremely more versatile and powerful for matching loops as well as creating refined grooves (more flexible if its adjustable in milliseconds rather than in time divisions)
Great!
What would also be nice is: you load Async into an FX slot in AUM. Then you feed a signal into it (from an app in the apps slot above). Async then processes the live stream endlessly.
An older app, "Loopfield", is able to do this but it is nowhere as good as Async.
