Of course,
Who else could sell it 😉
And then either give it back to @Michael for free to just let the last version stay in the App Store - the last version from him, of course!
No changes needed, but yes, required updates for new OS versions would be great.
Or, check with @SevenSystems if he was serious about creating more from this.
I really appreciate your enthusiasm! I still think both Audiobus (and the Audiobus API) and Xequence are great, but I really have to get busy making some serious money in the mid-term! 😄
So, we are going to pay for an app we have already bought to give it to a developer who doesn't want it?
I agree. I think they'll have almost zero new sales going forward. But it's possible they know that too but decided they might be able milk enough of the installed base long enough to recoup their investment and maybe make a profit. I doubt it, but there is a huge installed base to draw from and there's a sucker born every minute ya' know.
That sounds unethical. Besides, you would ultimately need to talk to the owner anyway to know if they would even be interested and what their price would be.
There would need to be some developer entity to own the app and list it in the App Store. If not an existing developer, then some entity created for that purpose (and willing to maintain the $99/year developer account). I doubt Michael would want to take it on when the reason he sold it was to get it off his hands, not because he needed the money (I believe).
I'm not poo-pooing the idea at all. It would be great if something like that could work out. I wouldn't participate as I no longer need Audiobus, but at least those who do would be in better shape than they are now.
Yes, exactly!
It's an idea.
And without knowing the original price, we cannot even start to think about it.
We cannot guess an offer - either it will be too low or probably way too high.
I would love to get a working AudioBus App and would be willing to pay ... depending on the price, of course.
Sure, it's a fine idea. I'm not saying it isn't.
What I'm saying is you should contact the new owner about potential pricing.
It's a private business transaction. It wouldn't be ethical for the seller to divulge details. It wouldn't matter anyway. The owner may think they can get far more out of the app by keeping it than they paid for it. Or, they might realize that they made a mistake and be ready to cut their losses. No one can know without talking to them.
