It gets even better: If you put a !Prev chord or notes right after your Prev chord, it’ll only trigger if the previous one didn’t! Quite a powerful tool for creating random, evolving patterns.
Similar use case with Npar and !Npar - but it only listens to the most recent trig conditions on neighboring parts. (Eg. Only play a drum fill on part 2 when your chord on part 1 activates)
Nice
I really like the fact that in AUM it is not Auv3 but interapp, so that by loading it I can set the off set for sync with hardware, bypass the lack of midi and transport in of AUM, and directly load the Auv3 in GR2. I hope it doesn't change.
At the moment I don't miss FX AUV3, the internal effects are really powerful, but i m sure in the future Will be added.
For me midi sync in lack in aum Is a really problem when i play whit other people.
And It Is so beautifull change project on the fly, the reasone that i dont use Drambo like main host in live
Love this
I think I've made my decision. I rewatched @thesoundtestroom 's video about the crossfading between patterns. I also rewatched @sfm 's first video and I noticed something extremely important to me...an LuFS meter on the master fader! So, as soon as I post this message, I'm heading to the appstore to purchase GR-II.
It's really good and will only improve. It's a triple A title for me.
I agree. Just one question that was probably already answered earlier in this thread, but again, too much to sift through to find the answer that I probably read and forgot. Is there a way to internally record live audio output from the crossfading of patterns and such to make a seamless DJ mix? Or do I currently have to use GR-II as IAA in AUM to do so?
It won't be true LUFS as measured across the whole song. It can only be an average over some period of time for what has already played. You will still need to do a mastering pass to get a real LUFS level set. But I guess it's helpful for getting closer to where you need to be in the end.
I'm really digging GR2 so far after purchasing it last night. It was tricky getting GR16 patterns to work. The trick is to have GR2 set to an empty pattern slot prior to importing. I exported all of the patterns/banks from GR16 but GR2 is unable to import them so for now it is a tedious 1 at a time affair.
Searching through the forums I came across this: > @Sequencer1 said:
So what does that make GR2?😊
Feels to me like basically GR-16 with a nice UI overhaul to make most things from GR-16 much more accessible. Aside from AUv3 hosting, there's not really new functionality, just enhanced specs and far easier to use (in some, but not all, ways).
So basically an iPad companion app for "a 'reverse-engineered' Electribe 2/2S with some added Elektron sequencer tricks, a bit of Serum, and support for AUv3 plugins..." 😉
It seems like something broke with the last GR2 update. Exporting GR-16 patterns worked flawlessly for me right after release. Now it loads GR2 but nothing is transferred.
Fortunately, I got all my favorite patterns copied over already but this might be a problem for others.
Fair enough mate.
That should be good enough to get me to the levels I need to be at for each track so they're mostly matched up.
Okay, dumb question. Is the automation per clip like in FLSM, or per track like in Cubasis 3? Or both?
Exporting 1 pattern at a time works fine 1, but the full GR16 bank export file does not import into GR2.
Both. Automation recorded with song mode off is recorded to the clip. Automation with song mode on is recorded to the timeline independent of the clip. 👍🏼
this is annoying, downloaded all kinds of serum wavetable files and no matter which one i try import, i get error that it is not compatible .. for what is good to have wavetable synth when it has no single one wavetable by default and almost none works for import :-/
That's...actually pretty cool not gonna lie. In many ways, I prefer timeline automation to clip automation as I have a better idea of what's going on where and how. So automation with song mode on it is then (well, for me personally).
Not here. Even 1 pattern a time no longer works on mine.
Are they in subfolders?
I've only tried the Adventure Kid 2048 wavetables and they work fine as long as they're not in sub-folders.
Did you drop the .wav files into the WaveTables folder in the Grooverider 2 folder? I couldn’t get tables to load either until I sent all the files to the same directory.
Unfortunately the wavetable synth doesn’t currently support nested folders (Probably a bug, as the Sampler works fine with separate folders)
@dendy - is also could also be similar to GR-16. (if this quote is accurate)
And this from the GR-16 manual:
I don't think a lot has changed with basic functionality under the hood between GR-16 and GR-2.
His single cycles are also great fun to use in the GR2 sampler, which fortunately supports subfolders. Hopefully the wavetable bug is fixed soon — it’s unmanageable dealing with 1000+ tables in the same folder.
Anyone knows how to change a clip color? That would be very helpful.
Right now I can create a clip on the part with the color I want and drag it to the part Im working on… as long the optionof auto color is turned off, but I cant seem to find a way to choose a color per clip
can you record audio directly into the sampler? if so, is it ipad mic only?
Groove Rider 2 - All About SoundFonts - How to Import, Edit & Record a Song

Here is my fourth video for GR2.
You can record from the mic or any audio interface your device recognizes.
Browse -> Bank A -> Wavetables
There are around 45 included wavetables.
Amazing video mate.
Another well-thought-out tutorial. This reminded me to go to my longtime mate's website dskmusic.com and repurchase the soundfonts there (25 quid). Since I last downloaded these, DSK added a Vol 2 to his orchestral sounds as well as a GM soundfont (probably different than what's included in GR-II).
With that said, I plan to remake an old track from 2006 where I originally used some of those soundfonts (yes, they've been around that long). called "Dragon Skies". I plan to make an EP or album with GR-II with varying styles of music, a nonstop mixture of tracks.
That said Doug, is it possible the next video of yours will cover automation?
That's what I'm most interested in learning more about, from recording automation (should be as simple as pressing "record" LOL), to drawing automation in (which is what I'm not sure how to do yet). All the best to you, brother. Peace. ✌️
You can also record from other hosts by using the Loopback plugin from KQ Voice Plugins Suite.
Whoot!
