So this is how it works. There is part level (basically track level) automation at the timeline (top left corner of the timeline view). For example if you record a clip with existing volume level automation into the timeline, it will carry over the automation. If you create a volume automation for that part in the timeline the part automation overwrites the clips automation that was carried over from adding the clip to the timeline.
Moral of the story for me is basically stick with one. For a consistent, across the track automation, do it in the timeline part automation.
It’s actually nice that the part automation takes precedence over the automation in the clip which is being copied or recorded into the part timeline.
You and I both. 😂
Crazy
I learned that you CAN PRINT THE ARP 🤯
Parameters set is still a black box to me
I see that the manual shows "shimmer" and "church verb" effects on the FX Buses page, but then doesn't include them in the list of available effects... and in fact they aren't. I wonder if these are abandoned or yet to be implemented.
I think an easy solution is to have a pause/stop Follow Action switch…
Yeh, that's a critical missing piece. Especially since arp settings are per part, not per clip. I ended up recording to atom piano roll, deleting the clip that was driving the arp, and then printing midi.

They are included, but only in send FX. My guess is you're looking in Master FX.
Any recommendations for a midi to keystrokes app? Would that work? Have a controller (mvave smc mixer) where I set up switching midi channels with buttons, so that the knobs and Faders can control the different tracks accordingly. Would be nice to have it switch to a tracks view...
Or better, have all these commands also listening to midi cc
I've never heard of there being an app like that. I don't think it can exist. You wouldn't want to open up a huge potential security hole like being able to send keystrokes from a midi file. Yikes.
That said, I think @rs2000 posted something a long time ago about controlling things in iOS with midi using accessibility shortcuts. Or something like that. I can never find that thread when I need it.
That's bloody brilliant! Thank goodness I have a Pebble Keys Logitech keyboard. This will be fun to try out in the app.
Just keeps getting better and better! I can say the more I learn and work with GR-2, the more I like it. It is just so immediate. Very quick workflow to get an idea down and then finish it right in the box. It is now even a faster workflow with the keyboard shortcuts. Just like desktop DAWs.
GR-2 is definitely created by a producer for a producer. Hats off to Jim.
I second this! Holy shit, GR2 has the fun factor. Dare I say a bigger fun factor than NS2.
Agreed. Yes I love Drambo. It can do tons. It is definitely the Swiss Army knife of iOS music production apps. I’m not gonna stop using Drambo. But GR-2 just feels right. Great to have another excellent choice.
How soon a heart grows fonder.
Drambo is fun, but not as fun for me due to getting lost in it. I just want to shut my mouth and get down to work. That's me personally, of course.
Wait. It seems that you can print the arp! You just need to print it to a different clip.
I'm so glad to be finally able to RTFM. 😂
Thanks. Seems odd that there is no record enable.
keyboard commands is a great feature, I have a few more suggestions for those that I'll email Mr Audio about after testing the feature out soon
Oh! Yes, you're right. Thanks.
anyone know the polyphonic per step per layer of GR2 internal sequencer?
edit:typo
If I load Pure Acid as an AUv3, how do I get GR2’s keyboard/pads to change sequencer patterns rather than play notes?
For those who don't want to read all 52 pages of the manual

For anyone that might want or need to use GR2 with a single hand, and use the shift button, it appears that you can keep it activated by sliding off it after pressing. Here's how it works:
(1) Press the Shift key with a finger of one hand and hold it.
(2) Keep that finger on the screen and slide around to wherever else you need to reach. The Shift button remains active.
(3) While keeping that finger down, tap on the items that need the Shift engaged with the other fingers of the same hand.
(4) Release.
While I think that a "hold" option for the Shift button would be much better, this seems to work when I've tried it in different scenarios such as multi-selecting distinct notes in the piano roll. I haven't tried every possible situation, so it would be interesting to know if it is of any help.
This is crazy. I uploaded a story that I'd written, and it was correctly identifying themes and going in-depth about the characters. Actually useful!
Yeah, this seems way more effective than just uploading a PDF to ChatGPT. In just 15 minutes, I learned about Fill modes, the Parameter Set function, and how the Shift button unlocks a ton of features in the MIDI editor. Also, it looks like there’s no way to use third-party LFOs, and you can’t record audio into the sampler in sync with playback—so the start point has to be set manually.
Instant podcast about GR2
a little exaggerated about the "features" like changing the sample rate and buffer size and other things lol
That link is just one big add full of nothing. Don’t know if poster is malicious or just some lazy ass
😂 I see what you did there. Haha! Well, he does go by the latter nickname.
(All in good fun @lazyass . Nothing malicious meant here.)
I don't think polyphony is implemented in that way in GR2. Polyphony isn't governed by the sequencer but by the polyphony limit of each layer in each part. For internal sources it can be set from 1 to 16. For AUv3's the limit is governed by the plugin.
You can program as many notes as you like per "step" (not really a thing when you have a piano roll that can be un-quantized and with notes of any length). The polyphony limit will govern how many notes can be actively sounding at one time (per layer).
I probably didn't explain that very well. The coffee hasn't kicked in yet.
I got into the synth a lot deeper last night after having thoughts triggered by reading the manual. You can do some amazing things using synth layers on a part. If you think of a part as a modular synthesizer, you can beat out a lot of synths in terms of features. Independent filter, envelope, panning, FX, tuning, polyphony, and other things per layer is hugely powerful.
I started whipping up a basic 3 oscillator "synth" with three layers and ended up with some amazing patches. I immediately loved having a totally separate filter for each oscillator, and especially something I always miss in every non-modular synth ... panning per oscillator. But the real icing on the cake was being able to have separate FX per layer. One oscillator to a ping-pong delay, one to a chorus, one to a slicer ...
Sure, there are lots of limitations, but there's also pretty much unlimited potential for sound design in a package that's easier to deal with than a modular environment.
Don't ask me for patches. I didn't save any. 😂
