Ohh man, having the step sequencer available in the Sound view is a real treat! So much fun and immediacy
Especially with the Acid Drum rack opened!
In the manual near the back he has given specific CC settings for different parameters (if this is what you're talking about).
If I remember correctly (only tested this out once so far) - you can map a controller and they work across each part - without having to midi learn all the time. (only 1 didn't work for me - think it was cc84 or 85)
@auxmux @thatguysmitty @purpan2 @aalcantara , i emailed Dimitrij the following screen shot, along with some love and praise. 🤞
You can add note the same way you do it for the sequencer in mk3 but you have to press on the session button twice and have a clip loaded. To erase a note, just press the clear button on the left and choose the note you want to erase. To adapt the length, long press on the note and it turn green, you can then modify the length
It's just not implemented in GR2, which is really odd since it's a standard feature of the Ableton Link SDK that's very easy to implement. I can only think that Jim is focused on this purely as a host for anything you would use it for. Not a good strategy IMO, but there you have it. Maybe it'll play better with the other kids over time.
Ableton Link tempo sync is still useful without start/stop. Just not as useful.
@cuscolima Thanks for the tips.
@Edward_Alexander here's what I have discovered so far about LP Mk3 Integration.
Launchpad Pro MK3
Session Mode:
Clip edit mode
Performance Mode
Pattern Settings
Mixer Mode
Note Mode (Select with Note button next to Session)
Chord Mode (Select with Note button next to Note)
Custom Mode (Select with Custom button)
Yeah thanks, I saw those. It's pretty cool. Just not a fan of jump and catch takeover modes. Needs to work with relative encoders or have midi feedback to update midi controller to make it useful.
The novation nocturn had this thing called the speed dial, where you could just hover over a parameter (fader/knob) and the speed dial could control it. No midi mapping required. I thought it would be cool to have a dedicated cc that could control the last selected parameter. One knob to control them all!

Regarding the LP X, I already received a response. The device is needed in order to implement support for it. If someone would send him one, he’d make it work. What an awesome Dev. I’ll pass, cause i’d happily live with this as is, but great to know that he’d do that.
Can you tell him we need midi import.. please
Edit.. Y’all won’t have to thank me when it transform this wonderful app.. It will be huge..
I’m nobody special. There’s a GR2 page on FB, and an email somewhere. Also. I wasn’t planning on thanking you anyway 😉
=7
does this work with launchpad X ? how do you set it up?
No. Discussed just a few posts up.
😛
But Jim actually implemented IAA sync
And the result is he only allows his users to sync with AUM/Audiobus
Full sync is allowed, but not with OTHER HOSTS
imagine the best hardware Groovebox without midi port
You all really need to mail Jim
I checked both the official website and manual and didn't find the email. Do you have it?
Edit: I found it under other app

Midi Import!!!!
MIDI import and MIDI Out would make this an insta-buy for me.
It will be crazy..
I'm tempted to email Jim myself to beg him to add midi import just to stop @RajahP bringing it up every single day. 😂
Just curious what does everyone want / need midi import for anyway?
I have no idea. I think I tried importing a midi file into Atom 2 once, back when it first came out, just to try it.
Yeah I don't know why either, but I guess it can be a useful feature for some users.
I was going to make the same question, midi out I can get, but midi import?
Excellent! Thanks.
I would rarely use it but can think of a few reasons why others would:
I could probably come up with some others if I tried. People don't usually repeatedly ask for things that they don't have solid reasons for wanting. MIDI import and export is always widely requested when apps don't have it, so I assume I'm just not typical. 😎
Without plowing through the many pages in this thread, is there a hankering for an iPhone version from the kids out there? I messaged Jim about it and he said it wasn’t planned but that if there was enough interest he might be keen
@wim said:
It is just the very basic musician RIGHT to move your midi and audio around different platform and apps. That’s why I ask for full Ableton Link too.
Edit: it is like bitcoiners saying “not your key not your coins”. Same for musician that not your midi not your music.
Having a fully modular system hosted by AUM is great but there is a reason why semi-modular systems exist. Nothing is perfect
All in one hosts like GR2, Drambo, SAND all feel like semi-modular hardwares too me and there must be some way you can combine multiple source to get the final result.
