The "ChateauGrand-Plus-Instruments-bs16i-v4" soundfont you're using is the one from soundfonts4u, right? I'm wondering if it's too large for my ipad's memory (2019 ipad air 3rd gen) -- if I try the other '...plus instruments' soundfonts from that page, they also crash, though they're even bigger which might still be the problem.

Looks like file size was the problem; I used Polyphone to remove the ChateauGrand piano samples/instruments/presets from the soundfont, which shrank it from 566 to 305mb, and now it loads just fine.

You can also just change bar length in the pattern menu. Seems that every new clip will use that length till you change it again. Setting number of bars on the clip dropdown would have been more intuitive.

That helps too. Most of what's needed is there ... someplace. Just gotta find it all. 😉
    Thanks!

I keep thinking something is missing or not easy to find, but once I do find it I wonder how I missed it in the first place.

Definitely finding it easier than trying to learn a few other apps for the first time:

Insert FX per Drumkit part would be nice. Who generally wants all the same FX on a whole kit??

+1 (though you can vary the ifx routing for some flexibility)

The step sequencer is really confusing.

Yes. How to change a selected note (step) to a chord, for example? It works differently than GR-16, where you selected the step and then could change it to a chord or different key.

You have to hold the first step where the note is showing and drag it up or down, but it won't accept selection from the piano roll. Very strange concept overall.

Yes, it works for individual steps, but I cannot enter the predefined chords (via the pads). Chords work when in record mode, though. This was different with GR-16 (I hoped the GR2 sequencer to be a better controllable version of the GR-16 one).

  • Can’t you apply follow actions to clips like go to start play twice etc like you can in BAM ?

Yeah you can. Tap the little cog at the top right of the clips view.

    Edit: Answered above

  • Hi!

Are auv3 effects can only be inserted on the send bus? The “track(insert)” effects are only built in ones?

And , is it possible to decide which pitch is a note on the step sequencer without the midi editor?
    Thx

Is there really no option for rendering out a live session of clip launching?

    Just hit record?

You mean do a Screen Record?

I meant an option in GRII to record a session of live clip triggering and additional part playing. You know, like the way you record audio output in Koaka for instance.

Screen record is ok but you have to then convert video to wav and delete the OG video and isn’t the output degraded vs recording straight to wav? Why not just have a record live session to audio option, that’s the beauty of working with clips.

One 'work around' for now is to load GRII in AUM or any other host that supports IAA and do the recording there.
I'm quite sure those features will be added over time...

I was hoping GRII would give me a break from having to always find a workaround on iOS. This is a basic and obvious thing. I hope you’re right and these things get added…over time…

Apologies if this has been covered already, but does anyone know if GR16 projects can be opened on GR2?

Yep, GR16 patterns can be opened in GR2

Most excellent news to me! TY!

My custom GR16 synth and sampler sounds didn’t all translate perfectly to GR2, but it’s nice to have all my patterns as a starting point.

Would be nice to have separate inserts per synth layers too.

can anyone confirm? midi fx like scaler 2 or chord generator (or steppolyarp) don't seem to sync to the tempo as they should, something's off. GR2 arp syncs fine
edit: scaler when in perform mode, chord generator with the repeater on
    edit2: works fine in cubasis

  • Okay. My number one request for this app is autosave. Lost a bit of work last night because I forgot to save.

  • Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to set up your own tracks as the initial autoload?

  • Who’s ready to finally chuck the laptop for all things music ? On 3… Ready? 1…..2……

Never started luckily. I would have wasted so much money on desktop apps..

Is it possible to route MIDI from one part to another, or would this require additional plugins like MIDI Bus or MIDI Route from Audioveeks MIDI Tools? I just notice that the routing button is dead (greyed out) on a MIDI FX layer.

If you hit record you can record your live session triggering on the timeline, then you can edit or export it.

Oh you mean turn on ‘Song Mode’ then press Play, then trigger clips and it records all parts into the song timeline.

Interesting, what if you’d already built a song in the timeline but wanted to jam with the clips to try alternative arrangements? I guess you can’t or you’d get some popover asking if you wanted to replace the song parts?

Still say a record live session/jam would make more sense and give more flexibility but great this exists.

  • Here is another video, this one for the Pattern Cross Fader Mixer, this will be very useful for those of you who do live performances.

  • Hello there, is anybody is using Groove Rider 2 with an iPad Pro 12inch 1. Generation?
How it works from the cpu/ram side?

    thanks 🙏

  • The built in synth and effects are very impressive.
