@Dav !! I’m so impressed with your ability to make handmade instruments! Especially flutes! I’m a flutist, so I know it takes a special skill to make them!
I just love it, @Dav!
What a cool fractal! Such depth!
Speaking about Adobe Photoshop, way back in the day, when I was first hired as a graphic designer at one of the local studios, because they knew nothing about graphic design software and practically nothing about computers, they asked me what tools did I need. (Ha, NEVER ask an artist that question!).
So I asked for Photoshop and Illustrator, both of which had just come out a year of so before, and were the industry standard for commercial work. What I later realized was that the studio had purchased a license for both in my name, so long after I’d moved on, I still held that license for Photoshop and Illustrator for a couple more years before they finally caught on!
@StudioSisu said: Have you considered printing this on linen or a fine-grained canvas? When I look at it, the way the colors blend abstractly makes me want to wrap myself all up in it (don’t laugh). 👍
@StudioSisu said: What’s also cool is that because Adobe Photoshop has gotten so expensive, other app developers have stepped in and created digital art apps that basically have similar Photoshop features at a much cheaper price. I mean, I haven’t used Photoshop for a while, because other apps have picked up the slack! Why spend the extra $$?
Thank you, it was made with Chaotica on Mac. There's a free version that takes you long. I bought the full but returned it and got my money back, turns out it's abandoned. Petty, it's the best one (don't tell Andreas Maschke though).
A friend and I started using Photoshop together and as you say, the studios had no clue - like the job ad we found which required at least ten(10) years of experience with PSD when it only had been out for max five.
Back to fractals, this one is made with Frax which you all can find in the iOS app store. Fantastic but not the same kind of fractals like Chaotica and JWildfire (flame fractals).

The App Store has this really clever app that will take a photo and turn it into music. It’s called Spinphony, and it has lots of tools you can creatively use to create inventive music. I find it interesting, because you never know what you’re gonna get, especially with your own artwork. Try it!

@StudioSisu said: It’s amazing how for digital art apps have come, @Neu. Looking at your glorious work, it just blows me away. This should be exhibited!
@StudioSisu said: I smell “Spring” looking at your sweet rose, @jwmmakerofmusic. It’s the colors!
@StudioSisu said: Is this oil or is it digital @jwmmakerofmusic? It looks so lush!

@jwmmakerofmusic, This is another piece of your work that I’d love to see printed onto a large canvas or tapestry to be hung as a wall hanging. There’s something so elemental about it; almost African or Aboriginal.
I like it a lot!
Thank you @StudioSisu! I wish I could play those bamboo flutes well, I’m more of an Irish whistle player over flute, but I love to listen to real flute players. In college I wrote a few piano/flute duets for recitals. It’s a wonderful instrument.
This thread rekindled my art interest, so I went ahead and purchased art set 4 and zen brush 3. May upgrade iPastels too, but the free version is pretty good as it is.
On the iOS app sales thread here it was posted about this free app: ‘glaze - simple oil painting’. Not bad for a free app.
@NeuM, that last painting you did really is a stunner.
@Dav "I'm not a good woodworker". Sorry mate, but I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Your woodworking skills have this inexplicable magic. How you repurpose things that others wouldn't think to repurpose in the ways you do is wizardry! Those flutes and tounge drum are simply lovely! Show us more pics of your woodworking skills mate.
@StudioSisu I'd love to someday make prints of my art. Yeah, I feel the same way when I see a good piece of Abstract art - not necessarily to wrap myself up in it, but to kind of just "live" in the world such a painting creates. Seriously, I could visit the local art museum and sit on the floor in front of a captivating piece of art. I know for some that representational/figurative art does it for them. For me, it's Abstract art and Expressionism, or really any art where the paint strokes are boldly visible, not just about colours but also about the paint strokes and the general vibe.
In a way it's like getting high without the high itself, lol.
And yeah, Adobe Photoshop is the OG, but now it's subscription based, which sucks. Then again, I don't find the interface of Photoshop to be all that inspiring for art compared to something such as ProCreate, Artrage, Art Set, and hell even Sketchclub and iPastels. (Oh iPastels, I haven't forgotten you. Lol.)
Spinphony seems really awesome! I'll have to download and see if it works on my iPad and iPhone on iOS 18. It's free, so worth a shot.
Anyways, about my rose, yep. Definitely springtime, so figured I'd do a very simple and sloppy rose, lol.
About the pink, red, and yellow piece, it's digital from Artrage Vitae. I wish I could afford lush oil paints, let alone be able to use them in my flat. Unfortunately my flat is carpeted, and one drop on the carpet, and I'm basically fucked with an eviction. 😂
I'm glad you're digging my art, mate.
@Pxlhg "Frax" you say? Well shit, mate. I'm already getting lost in that piece you made with Frax. Sure, as you said it's not like JWildfire and Chaotica, but doesn't matter. That's a lovely piece of work! Only a fiver for the full unlock it seems. What are "cloud credits" though? Before I install it, what are those? 😂
YES! 🙌 I'm glad you did. I do recommend getting the full unlock of iPastels. It really is a lovely app, and it's what I used for over $200 worth of commissions last month. 😂
I just took your advice, had $7.88 left on my gift card, just enough for the $7.00 upgrade. Now will have some fun!
Dive right on in, my friend! It's THE best oil pastel simulation on iOS. Better than Artrage's pastel simulation imho, but ymmv. ❤️
It's also pretty much abandonware these days so nothing to worry about, you get full size render option (that was what they used to be for)
Dang, abandonware? I'll have to weigh my options then. Don't want to get an app only for it to be sunset in a month. 🤣 (I'm still "traumatised" by Nanostudio 2 being sunset rofl.)
Next piece. ☺️
If you regret it and can't get a refund, I will reimburse you, I promise -- there there, of you go and have fun (ha ha I'm just joking, I'm so tired, but, you wont regret it)
Lol! 😂 Commission me, and I may consider it. 🤣 (Just takin the piss, mate. All good.)
Now, Abstract Art I made for my sister. ❤️
Saw Frax mentioned earlier. Here’s one that started there.
Big Ben:

And here’s Bigger Ben
I really like this, this, and that!
@jwmmakerofmusic ,Just the colors and stuff. Don’t know any other way to describe it.
When i look at yours, @NeuM , the manner in which you painted the sky allows me to feel the wind blowing around on the grassy knoll. I love it.
@FizzyLizzy27 That's some great fractal art, mate. 😃
@Blipsford_Baubie Thanks mate. ❤️ I do love making a good piece of Abstract art. About to post some more here.
Next set of Abstracts!
My first Nomad skulpt.
Its got more settings than a DAW.
It started as a fish. Seal. Then looked like Mr Miagi.
@sigma79 Excellent job for a first sculpt in Nomad! ☺️ It actually looks pretty cool.
More Abstracts! I think I have an addiction. 🥴
