All I can say is, we never released a product without help text and a manual. Our customers would never have accepted anything else...
Well but that is a very different scenario
Why?
Is it?
@offbrands I’m sorry if I came off as defensive or in poor taste. It was not my intention, I was just sharing my perspective that it’s not that big of a deal
Anyone have a Move? Put together a little midi mapping using the new bidirectional setup, and would love any feedback. Set your Move to "Control Live" mode and it has dual modes:
Tracks: Select from 8 tracks on top, 4 bar clip nav in the middle, 2x8 pads for note entry (left and right for octave shift)
Clip view (accessible with the three lines): 4x8 clips, each Move "track button" launches the row/scene
The Move needs constant midi messages to stay lit, so included is a template project with a little empty sysex generator. Have fun!
I will test this today!
I’m a self-proclaimed dramboNOT. I just want to make sure I’m not wrong when i say that pattern information like notes and automation only gets saved to the project.
I thought i was being clever – when i needed some pattern information from my phone to my iPad’s different project, i loaded the project from my phone as a Drambo AU instance on my ipad. I wishfully thought i’d be able to copy the pattern from my AU instance, which it did allow, and paste it onto my standalone Drambo pattern, which it allowed, but no automation or note info was actually pasted. Then i tried dragging and dropping with no luck. I also tried loading the phone project as a MIDI FX AU to record the info into my main Drambo, still nothing. I tried midi feedback as well.
Not a big deal cause i just sample into Flexi on my phone and open it on my iPad. I’m just checking to make sure I’m not missing something, and that this is the way.
I just tried copying a pattern with automation from a Drambo AU to the Drambo host and the notes were copied. The automation wasn't but that's understandable because copying automation only makes sense on the same track between different patterns, as the automated parameter is tied to specific parameters in the same rack.
Can you tell me how to trigger the case of copying a pattern with notes going vape?
I tried again three different ways, with number three succeeding in copying the notes.
1) Inside the AU version, i used the Select function, Select All along the entire sequence, toggled select back off, went back to Host, Select function. But when i highlighted the sequence, Select All pops up. No paste option.
2) Inside AU, from the Patterns Page, I swiped up on the pattern and chose Copy, went back to Host, on Pattern page i chose a pattern, swiped up, selected paste.
3) Inside AU, long-held and dragged a pattern, closed AU window, went to Host patterns, green plus sign visible, and dropped on the pattern.
Also, i considered what you said regarding automation working for only the same track.
So i tried again all of the above, but this time inside the Host, i opened a really small project with only three tracks of racks and sequences. On an empty track, i loaded the AU and opened the same exact project inside the AU, hoping that the automation would carry over if my target track in the host was a duplicate of the AU track. Didn’t work.
All good. I learned how to achieve it with the notes thanks to our conversation, and i guess this is also confirmation that automation copy isn’t possible. I tried one last time, this time i copied one lane fromthe automation editor, but in host automation lane, can’t paste. Nor did swiping up on target pattern to paste work.
I guess what @rs2000 said about pasting automation is that when pasting what would the automation sources be? How could the paste function know what to connect?
Indeed. I figured it was a long shot.
Silly question here: ehat does the fill button in the step sequencer (ehere you can play with velocity, gate and conditionals)?
It allows you to drag through the level input (velocity, gate, offset) and fill the steps, otherwise you'll only set the value for the steps that already exist
Thanks!
Another question, in the graphic envelope, which are the units of the axis (and snaps)? Are they ms?
The Y axis always goes from 0 to 1 (signals in drambo are normalize to 0..1 or -1..+1 for bipolar.
So if you have a 16 snap setting, each snap increases by 1/16 (0 to 1/16, then 1/16 to 2/16, etc)
The X axis depends on the time settings. If it is free, with 5 seconds, and you have a 5 snap X then each slot is 5/5=1sec
If it beat synced then the same logic applies as division by number of snaps, but now the total time is whatever number of beats you set. Total time in ms will be a function of bpm and number of beats. Snap time will be total time / number of snaps
2.49 is out and it seem to contain a new "code" module. I'm guessing this crowd will have fun with that!
Only if it comes with a decoder ring.

The code module is fun. I can't see myself doing anything with it other than satisfying my curiosity for a little bit, but I bet some people will do some good stuff with it.
I think I'd be more interested in a MIDI code module. (Not complaining though!)
Holy sht. Is Drambo basically integrating Strudel?
I'm addicted to Switch Angel on YouTube
https://youtube.com/@switch-angel
Due tue tracks such as this:

And am absolutely fascinated in live code beat creation, but was able to tamp it down by being iOS only
This could be bad...
(And HELLA exciting 😁)
It's nothing like Strudel. It's more of a DSP coding tool. You can make synth and FX modules with it. There are some time based functions there too, so sequencers aren't out of the question, I suppose.
Is there documentation for the code module?

[edit] - the module help has the wrong URL
https://www.beepstreet.com/drambo-docs/code-module.html
There isn't much, but I found it enough to get started with a few simple things.
Thank you!!
Lol, as a coder, part me always gets excited when there are coding entry points into music software.
As a 20+ year coder, part of me isn't sure I will take the time to really explore it after another full day of work once three young children are in bed.
You can’t output midi but you can generate pitch/vel/gate and then generate midi with another module (note generator)
Re: sequencing there’s this utility that can be of usage:
seq(index, value1, value2, value3 ..... ) - Returns the value of the element at position index. Index is wrapped when exceeds range. May be used as a substitute of array.
Yeah. Saw that. Very cool, but I’m not going there. 😎
I can’t think of any ideas worth pursuing.
@PapaBPoppin switchangel, yeah I accidentally found her playing on my computer after some other videos… she’s awesome
Oh crap. This update broke the “buffer rescan” module, destroying all my tracks that have this module (which is about 90% of them).
And I just noticed what seems to be a big bug. Changing the speed in the clip no longer works. When I set the clip speed to x2 or x1/16, it has no effect on the speed. Maybe that's why ‘buffer rescan’ behaves differently.
It's good that I have a second iPad on which I won't be updating Drambo.
