Heads Up: NEW Igor Vasiliev app launched!

I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag completely… but for fans of Igor Vasiliev‘s apps and ambient soundscapes, etc. - there’s a brand new one coming soon. Maybe in time for holiday sales, but definitely before end of year.

It uses samples, can be an effect with your own live input and samples. It’s got his most intuitive interface yet, you can still go down the rabbit hole if you want, but you can basically have a blast without even needing a demo or tutorial at all. It’s completely universal, including native on macOS.

Can confirm it works flawlessly in Logic on latest macOS

It’s really cool, different, fun 🤩 with lots of randomness built in too.

He may post some teasers later this week.

Just wanted to alert other fans of his work about incoming Igor magic and that you ought to save some of your holiday app budget for this one! :)

It’s called ExoSphere

  • Sounds very exciting, looking forward to see and hear more. He's definitely one of my favorite developers. I dream of a BeatCutter2 but think it's going to remain just that, a dream.

This one isn’t as challenging to master the interface as a few of his others can be, and yet there’s still great complexity if you want it.

I think he’s hit a very cool balance with this one. You can dive right in without having to study anything.

I’m finding it highly addictive! :)

  • Sounds very cool.

I can already (almost) say I’ve mostly mastered it without any tutorials and only referring to the in-app help guide 3 brief times. I’ve already moved past figuring out how it works to now making interesting stuff with it :)

Made this audio to go with a quickie generative graphic I made within the first 15mins of playing with it. I only recorded 20secs of audio out of the standalone app, but this is just an example of being able to start using it right off without hours of tutorials :)

I’ve mostly been playing with it in standalone, but it’s also AUv3 and can be loaded as either an instrument or an effect with your own input. It comes will a bunch of samples but you can easily import your own samples into it too.

(PS: I did ask Igor first if it was cool to mention the new app now. He told me it was ok and that he was going to post some ExoSphere teasers this week too)

  • Brung it on!

I think you guys mean bong. Sample of a bong running thought it, obvs.

  • Sounds exciting! But some pockets are getting super empty especially with all these awesome Thanksgiving sales this month! I really wish there always a good preview video to get everyone excited and put that cash in the side for buying it. Either way, can't wait to see what it is. <3 o:)

Yeah, I don't know. As far as I'm concerned, the app seems very stable, full featured and ready for launch now. He's still tweaking it some though. He says he'll post some teasers this week so keep an eye out.

As for a preview demo... I'd be surprised if some of the usual subjects don't already have a copy to make demos from. I don't know though.

I just wanted to give fans of his apps (like myself) and the ambient/soundscape crowd a heads up... that they may want to tuck a little of their holiday app budget aside in case he gets this launched in time before everyone's budgets are spent. :)

  • Never got my head around synthscaper.
    Very complex

Sounds like my cuppa tea, another one for my weird soundscape collection. Also curious about the new Hainbach that’s supposed to be released today.

  • Love the sounds- still terrified of the UI though. I’m going on my 14th year of not understanding fieldscaper. I’m convinced it’s impossible to record the birds in my neighborhood.

The sounds are a combination of some of the samples that come with ExoSphere and some of my own. It was just a quick test, to show how quick I could get something useful.

This one is definitely intuitive and doesn't require a lot of effort to get your head around. He didn't dumb it down so much that you can't make it very complex with tweaking parameters if you want... but I think he's hit just the right balance with this one as I mentioned before.

I don't like to have to sit though hours of slow tutorial videos just to do basic stuff in an app. I often fall asleep trying to watch any of the usual hour-long app tutorials out there. ;)

With this one, I was able to figure it out very quickly. I also don't like apps that after I've finally figured it out, but haven't used it in awhile... I completely forget how they work and have to start over with a refresher tutorial video. This one isn't like that.

I have no idea what Igor plans to add to it down the road, but as it is now... it's VERY user friendly and intuitive. :)

    You’re not alone

  • I’m ready!

  • Take your FieldScaper into the wild hit record then twiddle thine knobs and you will find what you seek

  • Hey, there’s also a sequencer within ExoSphere that I haven’t used much yet. You can change up your tonal parameters for each step and then set the transition between the steps to glide or fade.

You can make and export/share presets too. I’d show the interface, but I dont know yet if that’s cool with Igor yet. I just made one to go with a quick video piece here:

  • @skiphunt
Every time I take another stab at learning glitchscaper, I bounce hard off the inside/outside beat/step Euclidean sequencer knobs it uses. Is that system in the new app?

  • interface is shown here by Igor:

  • From Igors blog - https://motion-soundscape.blogspot.com/

When I began working on ExoSphere, my intention was simple: I wanted a tool that could generate the foundation (or even complete tracks) of long‑form ambient and meditative compositions. I imagined something that could create soundscapes which breathe and evolve, without demanding constant intervention, yet still offering depth for those who wish to shape every detail.

At first, I thought about speed and simplicity. I wanted users to be able to sketch ideas quickly, perhaps with a single press of the randomizer, and hear a draft atmosphere emerge. But I also knew that some would want more: advanced controls to refine each layer, to make the sound truly unique. Balancing these two needs - effortless beginnings and deep customization - became the guiding principle of the design.

One of the core ideas was to divide the generators by their purpose. Each layer: Core, Flow, Grain, Shard, Glow - was given its own role in the sonic architecture. This separation made the system easier to understand and gave better results when parameters were randomized. Another idea was to keep parameters specific to each generator. By limiting controls to what mattered most for each layer, I reduced unnecessary complexity while preserving creative freedom.

Working with ExoSphere is not about following a strict technique. It is about listening, experimenting, and adjusting by ear. The basic process is straightforward - choose a sample, set its tone, presence, density and spatial depth. From there, you refine by adding modulation, letting parameters shift and evolve over time. This is how a simple sketch transforms into a living composition, one that never repeats itself exactly, always unfolding in new ways.

The result is an application with a deep, immersive sound. In headphones, ExoSphere reveals a rich low-frequency foundation and enveloping textures that draw the listener inward. On good speakers, it fills the room with atmosphere, equally suited for meditation, creative work, or quiet reflection. The modulators and sequencer are tied to a shared rhythm, so even a minimal external beat can blend seamlessly into the evolving soundscape.

ExoSphere is a universal app for iOS and Mac and will soon be available in the App Store.

    Can't wait for the release!

No. Super easy compared to all his other apps IMO

Igor app with beautiful interface 🤩

  • I love his apps, especially the newer more friendly ones.

  • The concept reminds me a bit of the Ambient 0 from SonicWare.

  • Synthscaper LE is pretty straightforward, and sounds great.

  • Can it record samples on the fly, or do they need to be imported as files?

  • We're running out of $$$! :#

At the moment, you can load it as an effect and run live input into it, or import your own samples.
