Really loving this one, awesome drum synth. Unfortunately on the iPad whole sections gets cut off the screen due to iOS using the 16:9 widescreen iPhone resolution cropped to the iPads 4:3 aspect ratio.
@monzo Where you choose presets for each sound there's a randomize button that conjures up new sounds. Only one sound at a time tho, as opposed to every sound at once like in SeekBeats.
A lot of stuttering on my iPod Touch 5, its a bitch on my cpu
Awesome awesome awesome. Love this to bits. Only spent 10 minutes with it and already made a weird alien swing beat that I love ...
@Matt_Fletcher_2000, yep some of the presets are OTT, but using your own this can be sublime, with AB and IAA will be superbly good, in a way Gadget already has audio tracks when you freeze them, but yes I too would love to see a full implementation of audio. @ChrisG, the UI is a pain, just about can select the mute button because of the resolution and the master FX act weird when reloading a saved preset, seems to not recall them all as I set them. But still a fabulous release non the less.

Nope, no MIDI implementation at all that I can find. I do hope they will add MIDI support for using pad controllers and knobby controllers with it in the next version.

Thanks Chris, hadn't spotted that yet
I actually got up a bit earlier today so I could have a quick play with it before going to work.....never done that with a new app before!
I asked Oliver about midi on the FB page, and he said he'd be looking into it after Christmas and hopes to have it implemented early next year. So, Audiobus hopefully by years end, and midi soon after. I wish it was sooner, but only because I've had such a blast playing with it already and I want to makes it a more permanent part of my workflow.
This is going to give my Machinedrum a serious run for its money. Even in a limited state, it's a no-brainer for $4. The sound mangling capabilities and playability set it apart from most apps IMHO.
Yep, no midi as yet but I can't wait for the updates
Plans for upcoming versions:
genuine iPad version (landscape instead of portrait), - UI on iPad a mess?
Audiobus support, - will be sweet,
IAA support, - toot sweet,
midi support, - tweaking heaven,
new sequencer features (rolls, etc.), - sequencing heaven,
new synth engines (tom tom, sampler, etc), - more mind blowing than it already is?
To anyone who loves synthetic beat machines, iElectribe, SeekBeats etc...just get this you'll not regret it, of course it needs a few bug fixes, but synthesis wise, this is the biz!
thanks all, I hesitate without ext. midi control but I've been waiting for this one so I'll get it anyway, i really hope the dev ups the priority of landscape mode and ext. midi. having a complete instrument itself is always my first thought and wish.

I feel ya-lack of landscape/AB/midi are usually automatic vetoes when I'm considering an app, but it's worth making an exception for this one, especially for the lowered intro price. I've got faith in the developer to implement all of these things sooner rather than later.
Like Samplr, I think the core element in the design is in the playability, and this app has it in spades, but I think Oliver is much more committed to updates and fixes. And as an Elektron fanatic, I'm not kidding when I say this is a Machinedrum rival already. I've barely scratched the surface and I love it.
it was that comment that sealed the deal for me
It's apps like this that really make the iPad a joy to have, Oliver you have my humble thanks.
and my thanks as well, this is nuts, I didn't know the fx could change with the pattern, I love features like that, thought only the impc pro could do that until now, what a combo!
Oh yes, this is dope. Looking forward to the iPad version.
fudge! I guess ed does not have an undo does it?
it really needs an undo, i just lost a sick ass beat cause i hit the demo by mistake aaargh
ok the good….sounds great although I think I still prefer seekbeats sound but it's really good to have a different flavor added to the palette. great features. like stated earlier this is going to get tons of use.
the not so good… I know the gui isn't optimized for the iPad yet but I'd prefer more of a look like seekbeats as well. I don't mean seekbeats gui I'm very glad it's different than that I mean seekbeats looks more professional, fonts are tighter, everything is snappier. currently this gui leans more towards the quality of weejam v1 and kind of has that vibe/feel although it's better than weejams.
Many people comparing this one with Seeakbeats and no one talking about bleep!BOX, which looks very good as well.
Expert opinions would be appreciated...
It seems to take the best bits of quite a few apps (which is fine by me), the Song edit section for example looks very similar to Yellofier, the pad tweaking functionality (in particular pitch) reminds me of using TriqTraq.
@kobamoto said:
Yeah I've done that too, an undo would be very useful or autosave as it's easy to lose stuff.
@kobamoto said:
I think that's just a personal preference thing rather than a 'professional' difference. I don't mind flat design, but personally I prefer the skeuomorphic design of ED. I like knobs to look like knobs, not circles. I guess that's because I come from a hardware synth background so the remove to app based synthesis is already a big deal, so I at least need those visual links to hardware versions.
I also prefer the Elastic Drums workflow to SeekBeats - it's a very different beast though, so I'm not too sure about the relevance of the comparisons between the two.

I like the functionality of bleep box but I'm not thrilled about the sound, I like elastics sound much more. I have bleep but never use it.
Nevermind , I answered my own question already.
both pure drum synthesis, both sound great, lots of automation, lots of randomization, I don't think they overlap cause they sound enough different and their interfaces are different enough but if you're only in it for one of them then I think the comparisons natural. I'm very sensitive though and i couldn't begin to make the same sounding music on both of them.
I think you're right though E.D. got allot of good influences from other apps. I do wish seekbeats would update more often but isn't that always the case
I just got done watching Doug's vieoon this. Wow, it looks like fun! Hoping for an early bus ride!
I still love tweaky beats to death
I created a couple of wicked beats this morning after just a few minutes twiddling. I can't wait for the AB update - I'm going to record them into Logic and then export the recording back into the iPad!
@kobamoto said:
Me too, simple but great fun.
I would like for the Elastic Drums randomize dialogue box to stay open while I randomize the individual instrument slots cause every time you randomize one it disappears and you have to launch it all over again, a launch per slot.
@monzo said:
all tweaky and seek really need is seamless loop export
I hope sample import comes to Elastic drums as soon as freakin possible
also wish the randomize features were accessible from the mixer page
