Woot!
I just got Diode-108, so I'm a bit late to the party, but I'd like to see it sync to Different Drummer.
Thanks. The party never ends. Different Drummer sends MIDI sync? Have you used it to sync with other apps?
Yes, it has worked for me with several other apps.
Great, thanks.
If you need me to help on the beta test, I'd be glad to.
Thanks. We'll do that!

When it comes to DD he is the boffin you were looking for....
Lol...."boffin" still throws me!
Hey boffins, is there a way to set Korg Gadget up as a MIDI clock sync master? Or just as a slave?
Upper right gear icon let's you switch between int and ext clock.
Yes, I tried that. Does it work for you? To me it seems that it's just switching between Gadget being controlled by its internal clock and Gadget being controlled by an external clock.
It does work for me. In ext, I drive Gadget with another app. Am I mis-understanding what your referring to with master/slave?
Thanks funjunkie27. I'm looking for whether Gadget can control another app. When you control Gadget with another app, it's the slave. I'm trying to figure out if it can be a master.
Ah...I was turned around. I haven't tried that before. There are a number of others more knowledgeable on Gadget than I am, so maybe they can chime in here.
Further searching seems to confirm that you can't convince Gadget to be a master. I'm going to cross it off my list for now unless I hear otherwise.
For the instruments that only want to be a slave, I've had pretty good luck running Nord Beat 2 as the master. For instance, I have Diode-108 and Sunrizer in perfect sync right now with Nord Beat 2 as the clock.
However, I can't figure out how to get Gadget to listen to Nord Beat 2. I have the feeling you could write a book about iOS MIDI sync. A big book.
MIDIBus and MIDIFlow both generate master clock and seems as though a good grip of people use these for they purpose. Might be worthwhile to add to the test bench.
Awesome. I'll do that. Thanks.
"They purpose". Damn you autocorrect.
I dunno. I was quite enjoying a good grip of people....
OK. I have MIDIBus running things now. I can't figure out how to get Gadget to listen to it, either. So I assume there's something about Gadget "Ext" that I don't understand.
@JohnnyGoodyear "a good grip of people" was at least intentional, even if it was shoddy English.
Hope I didn't imply that either would make Gadget a good citizen. Was just throwing them out there as good candidate test apps for following clock.
Oh yeah, I know. No sweat. MIDIBus is great and I was going to get it anyway. I'm just baffled about how to get Gadget to start. I have it running with its Int clock, and it just stops when I switch to Ext. Strange since other people seem to have Gadget running with an Ext clock.
Finally got it. Nothing happens with sync unless Gadget's Background Audio is on, and that's over in the iPad settings. Finally got Diode-108 and Gadget working together. Fair amount of latency in Gadget, but I was able to sync them with Diode's slider. Neat.
I think I'll have to write up instructions for how to sync up Diode-108 with all the popular apps.
Diode 108, are you sleeping? Lol :-)
Never!
Beta has been submitted to Apple. We'll try to make sure we're running with as many MIDI-compatible apps as possible. This beta makes a lot more of them work. The ones that still don't work (for me) might just be a matter of me not setting things up right in the other app.
Woot! Congrats!
Good effort there young Diode.....
