Must try harder.
Hey, it's your Galveston alter-ego, JohnnyCoppertone!
Ok. Listened again @Matt_Fletcher_2000. Perfect. Only thing I can say now is: stop listening to us. We will (collectively) drive you to madness with our suggestions and you risk drowning the track in gravy. If you haven't submitted the track already, do it now. No little tweaks are going to change the essence of what you have created already and it is really strong. So good luck and let us know how you get on.
It's actually my guv'nor Ray Winstone, but I've been thinking I might need a country name around these parts.....
@Monzo like that track like the japanese speech samples too. A great track you should listen to if you don't know it (Asa Chang and Junray trk called hana, its on youtube for sure)
@Jocphone Enjoyed your track. At first I thought it was going to be too repetitive for my liking but then it did a few unexpected things. The beat element is great. i actually like the brass synth melody itself, only constructive feedback is could have changed up the melody sound a bit in terms of maybe some filter sweeps or something to give it a big more interest
Loved him in The Proposition ... Don't recall the speedos
This is a snap from 'Sexy Beast'. Really very good. Might be a bit to Cockney/English for some (even though it's muchly in Spain etc). Worth a look.
I don't know what country you come from or whether you are old enough to remember this but in Britain at the end of the night they used to close the television stations down. On the BBC, after the last programme, they played the national anthem and a short while later they played a single test tone for maybe half an hour. It used to fascinate me that this box of crazy images and sounds ended with a black screen and this high pitched tone just sitting in the air. Doing nothing, just being. That's part of the inspiration for how this track ends. Maybe I should have drawn out the ending a little longer..
Saying that, I was almost tempted to end with a sample of Oliver Postgate saying goodnight to all the characters at the end of The Clangers.
Thank you for your very wise advice!
P.S. I remember that test card tone... fell a sleep to it as a teenager a few times...
Although I think we need a place to listen to all the entries, and thanks to richaryot for the effort, all those links are just crashing safari on the iPad, so I can't use that thread.
Not sure what to do about that...
I am in USA now but from UK and old enough to fondly remember test tone and clangers, more of bagpuss man myself though
Gotta love Bagpuss
It seems as if half the forum is from the UK, an over-represented country in the iOS music scene.
Maybe a playlist with all the Soundcloud tracks, and the occasional YouTube link?
But if it's fine for others I'll just dust off the PC. Would be great to listen to the tracks a few times.
I quoted because your name is hard to type! ;-)
Really great job. I will try to vote for it in that competition. I'm not on Facebook so if that plays into it I can't, but I have used indaba before, good site. If nothing else, I just enjoyed listening to it, great work!
Thanks...ah yes, just found it on Youtube and I see what you mean I love Asian sounds and music - and sneak a bit of this into my tracks when I can get away with it.
Reckon that's pretty much perfect now - best of luck with the contest
Thanks @Monzo - much appreciated.
You know they're making 52 new episodes of The Clangers. Palin voicing etc. Teams of old ladies knitting away as I type...
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Track turned out great, good luck
Thanks
About : Song of the Month Club - May, Final Entries
PC : no problems.
iPad Air 2 : Safari crashes, but Puffin Browser doesn't crash (I have paid for Puffin. Puffin does have a free version, but I don't know if that does the job). Weird that Safari doesn't crash when you go to SoundCloud itself (you than also have multiple songs).
We could set up a SoundCloud account, and make a playlist of all the SoundCloud entries, problem is the YouTube entries.
Idea 2: build a site "trackofthemonth.com" and add there all the entries. Problem 1: does it cost money? Problem 2: someone has to make that site Not me but perhaps someone does this in a jiffy, don't know. Problem 3: Perhaps we than have the same problem as we have now.
Idea 3: perhaps Safari doesn't crash if you make a separate comment for every entry, perhaps too much work, perhaps it doesn't solve the problem.
I think I am one of the guilty ones as regards youtube. I can let that go and post to SC, not a problem.
@JohnnyGoodyear - But your visuals are great, and part of your project. But it is an option.
Hey, I know....Its June, The suns out and I'm a late arrival. well, here goes. its a bit weedy at the moment as i havent mastered it but im sure you can all imagine and hopefully appreciate the punch it will have once its complete.
Cheers, Hope you enjoy

My first (sort of) song. A very spontanaous developed song. Last Saterday I got inspired and made a chord progression in GarageBand, a first sketch. On Sunday I got inspired and made a small lyric and sang it over the sketch. The result is what you hear.
It has an awkard structure: 1 verse and a repeat of the chorus (3x). Kinda weird, nevertheless I like it. Small detail: when I sing 'ko' I mean 'go'. Didn't want to re-record it. Critisism might be: too little vocals. But that is where I am right now.
I am a bit positively surprised that I sang a second voice with no problem at all. Not to show off about it, just sort of happy about it. Overall however I feel a bit shy and timid about posting it.
-- Where I Belong --
Verse
opinions every step i take
do we care, is it just fake
struggle everywhere i go
find whats real, take it slow
Chorus
does it matter who is right
seems to matter not to lose the fight
does it matter who is wrong
only matters where I belong
@richardyot - Read your guideliness. Good guidelines! I shall give more feedback on others creations. I have listened last month to a lot of the contributions, and didn't felt the need to comment on it, just didn't know what to say about it, some contributions are just not what I like, but others I certainly did like aspects of them, and still didn't comment. Perhaps out of laziness. I intend to be more a participant in commenting.
Love this Track Of The Month thing! Your words in a previous post (about singing) and certainly also Johnny's words about it, are inspirational for me to get me singing. The song I just posted, I never would have made it if this topic didn't exist. So, thanks!
