The synths in Auxy are very good so I'm glad you can export a WAV. It would be nice if they put it on the bus so you can play it with other apps and record in a DAW. And I DON'T think having only 4 tracks leads to greater creativity. ;-)
Ditto on the Kingston things as well a giving Darwin more time.
I think all the hoopla for Sid TRacker fancied my interest in the bitch chip genre sounds.
I saw that.
Not too shabby .........

I've seen people say the MIDI is now free. Where do I find the MIDI settings in the app? Thanks.
When I read that on the update, I have to admit, I nearly pee'd myself.
Same question here.
In "What's new..." only says about IAP: ".... Precision editing options now included for free..."
Dudes, Auxy only has presets. Where do you access these new synth engines?
That's the MIDI export on the left next to the song title(11 hours ago) and the one in the red circle only showed up after I opened up some synth apps that do Midi.
Oh interesting. I suppose I should check to see if their MIDI out works well with Diode's sync. Unless there's someone who has both apps and can check for me.
They're still presets, just a few more of them, and they're pretty good, but hard to fight against the rest of the iPad which shows up and plays very easily with this thang.
@firejan - Thanks for that screenshot. Got it working now.
No problem
So it's by Sonic Charge and it's a 4 osc wave-table synth engine. That sounds like some serious power behind those 3 knob presets.
Truly exciting as Auxy is one of the iOS Greats and the Sonic Charge AU's are some of my favorites and in constant use here. (The iOS Summer's been REALLY good so far!)
Only 'nag' I have is that the 'Drum Track'(Track 1) doesn't respect the 'Scale Off' setting so If I use the SoundCanvas as a sound source for the drums I can't access all the drum-sounds using 'Track 1' but it works perfectly on the other 3 tracks that do respect the 'Scale Off' setting. Pretty darn good for a free app and I can't find any sings of IAPs in this version
Thanks, @firejan82.
How do you do it? Auxy appears in the MIDI section of SidTracker but SidTracker is not listed in Auxy. I clicked on Auxy and clock sync in SidTracker and ran Auxy with no luck.
Hi, @Diode108 auxy's notes to diode are spread somewhere from oct-3 to oct+2 in the rows without 'scale off', as @Samu said, sync appears to be fine.
Obviously it's the note's assignments, have to midi-learn them for being played by Firo, for example, (which uses gm-standard?)
@mkell424 with midibridge activated it's possible, 'auxy' appears in sidtracker ...
edit: strange enough, 'auxy' appears in the midi section of auxy itself
Start Auxy first, then open SidTracker and select settings, activate midi clock in, and then the midi input port from Auxy. Done!
Yeah, I messed with this last night. I used Midiflow to monitor Auxy's Drum Track, and it looks like it using GM drum assignments. I had to midi learn the drums for @Diode108. Seemed easier than guessing at Auxy with Scale off.
Hi guys,
Sorry for being late to the discussion!
Great to see so many positive comments about the update!
MIDI is included for free now. As soon as there are any available endpoints on the network bus (i.e. if you connect a MIDI interface or start other apps that expose endpoints), they will show up in the preset menus in Auxy.
It's been a big project for us to build the new synth engine. It's got 2 main wavetable oscillators that can do some fancy stuff like e.g. 8x unison. Then we have a sub and a noise oscillator, 2 filters, envelopes and LFOs, distortion, chorus, delay, (multiband) compressor, 2 reverbs (as send effects), and an additional filter. We've built everything internally in order to optimize the code for iPad, but we've licensed filters and effects DSP from Sonic Charge.
To make the sounds we're working with some external sound developers and do a lot of tuning in house. The synth has 2 macro mappings that we use for the control knobs in the app. They can be mapped to anything in the synth, but we use them for character and filter changes.
We have stopped supporting iOS 7 since we've rewritten the UI in SpriteKit which causes some problems in older versions of the OS but improves the performance in iOS 8.
The new version has some performance issues on older iPads but we're working on improvements that will be out soon and should make the app run smoothly on all devices. At least when it's running alone. When you run multiple music apps we get even less resources which is obviously a challenge.
We're also working on additional sound packs that we'll start selling in the app now that we have such a nice foundation. The synth has sample support as well so we have a lots of options for adding more sounds.
Let me know what you think and looking forward to hear some tracks that you create!
Cheers,
Henrik / Auxy
@lenberg
Henrik, thanks for checking in. Congrats on the next iteration of Auxy. Understand your new 'direction' as regards MIDI free/IAPs. Glad about the new sounds.
I can see the desire from some folks (past comments) for more than 4 'tracks' or sounds at a time, to be honest four is enough for me (for what I use Auxy for), but if I could register a wish for your list it would be the ability to add more 'scenes' (going down the page) than the ten that are currently available.
Auxy (for me) is a very easy piano roll to develop melodies/verses/choruses in and then record directly into Gadget, this is a great way to work out songs, but I seem to run out of 'scenes' pretty quickly
We actually tested adding a 5th track but it didn't feel as nice as working with 4. Plus 5 would make it even harder to get good performance on older devices.
Adding more rows is an option though. We're testing some ideas for a scene triggering as well, so might add more rows together with that update.
@lenberg - there seems to be a funny thing happening with legato in the piano roll. Even if notes don't overlap, but instead butt up to one another- it plays it legato (which technically it shouldn't I don't think).
This is really obvious when sending to Cyclop. Cyclop's sequence of effects etc. starts when a key is pressed. If you play legato keys it doesn't restart the sequence. But key off, key back down again does restart the sequence. Also you get issues with synth envelopes not retriggering....
It would IMO, be better if Auxy worked like most piano rolls where the notes need to overlap in the piano roll for it to be legato.
Thanks guys. I'll update the Diode-108 MIDI sync doc to say Auxy works with Diode.
If you use Auxy to send MIDI, we just send note on and offs, so the receiving app has to handle the connecting/overlapping cases. Not sure that we could do it differently.
Internally, we have a glide/portamento feature, but we're not doing any legato at the moment. This has to do with how we handle polyphony and we'll probably improve/change this when we start doing our own format for communicating between the sequencer and the synth. We're rewriting the sequencer to be able to leverage the opportunity of going beyond the MIDI paradigm, like e.g. doing the polyphonic pitch bending that we experimented with at MIDIhack.
Thanks for the note. I guess the ability to replay scenes any specified number ('play four of these before playing the next') would help the song writing/not enough rows issue, and would be welcome, but the option to just add more rows would be a definite bonus.
@lenberg Great update. Auxy is awesome. The more I know about the synth engine the more I wanna tweak it but that's cool, I love the simplicity. Can you at least consider making Auxy play in the background so we can tweak our synth apps while Auxy is playing the notes?
I saw the polyphonic pitch bending video already a few times, it's really cool exciting stuff.

Auxy has background audio now. You can turn it on in midi settings.
@nick
Nice! I was not looking hard enough. Thanks.
Thanks. For some reason it doesn't seem to be sending midi note off then, if a new 'on' note happens at the same point in the grid. From Cyclop's response. Or maybe it's sending the new 'on' before the 'off'?
Anyway... cool app... i'm curious about the synth and also want to have a new page in order to get in and be able to tweak it since its there and it's not just playing samples. But i'm sure someone will say this will ruin Auxy
.
