Are you via midi instrument or IAA instrument with MTS?
Neither, I was sending MTS clock sync and recording Patterning as an audiobus input. Haven't tried it with midi or IAA in MTS yet, have you?
No success with IAA instrument on MTS. I did few times with fail.
However, with MTS midi instrument, MTS certainly can record midi note send by Patterning.
I think @benkamen should check around the IAA issue with MTS for which it is different from Cubasis.
Your method by Audiobus is best because audiotrack is a simpler way to get the audio into MTS.
photos for MTS midi instrument:
Thanks for that, yes I've now recorded midi via MTS midi, shame about IAA, seems to be a problem with a fair number of apps and MTS, same with Attack which I wish worked via IAA and MTS.
I have managed to record midi from Patterning via IAA if you select MTS IAA recording in patterning, not sure if IAA audio is recording from MTS though
Although not sure if it's recorded it correctly the midi data is written but when you zoom into it, it all broken up which isn't right
vAtt on the photo looks like you are doing with Attack Drum Machine.
Thank you, anyway.
@Carnbot, I did choosing MTS IAA on Patterning, but no sound came out from MTS IAA panel.
No I was just using the midi to play back through Attack
Is there an Undo button somewhere? If there is, I don't see it. If there isn't, I would like one because I do stupid things sometimes... um, frequently.
I have played around with cubasis and patterning for a few hours now and the sync has been audibly perfect on my ipad air. this is also running egoist and thor or magellan. At least the sync has been good enough for these non drummer ears. I am much happier than i was with DM1 who required constantly restarting of playback and even better than seekbeats which was pretty good. This is smooooth. When the cpu is bogged from all the general app overhead i find the only real hit i get is that it is slower to switch drumkits which makes sense that something has to give but really hats off that it is tuned so well as not to mess with the sync.
Now would be great if Cyclop had this seamless transition thing going for it, as opposed to the whole world tilting on its axis and everything flying, hehe. Heh, it is likely to be the new bar for apps at some point, 'is it seamless'?? Heh, patterning is the Fury Road of Ipad drum machines.
As for > @Crabman said:
I am so loving switching between kits on the fly. if there were a toggelable option for settting the kit with the pattern as some have mentioned, then sure that could be cool but for me the performance side of switching kits is so fresh and liberating. I love how at times the fx seem to bleed over in really unexpected, interesting ways. Likely there are two camps of feedback going on in regards to a lot of this. The live jammers and the programmers. Put me in the chaos camp for sure.
Hey @Carnbot
i know what you mean about IAA instruments being pretty flakey at the moment. I hear it is the os and will be much better in ios9. Anyway, to get Patterning working in cubasis as an IAA instrument the first couple times I used it I had to run Patterning first (leaving it running) and then cubasis, at which point it could be loaded on a track. Simply running cubasis then adding an audio track and setting it to Patterning did not work. After a couple times of this it now autoloads Patterning in without the need to run it before. The same thing happened for me with Attack.
A quick jam with Patterning and Figure
Hmmm i cant see the link in safari
I've just had Patterning driving Seek Beats.
On a train.
Need more time to play.
I am train bound in ten minutes and will join you beat spirit
Cool.
I suspect a lot of my music is subconsciously heavily train influenced.
Out of curiosity, are you getting Egoist to start playing a selected pattern, when you use it as an IAA input on Cubasis, as an audio track? Patterning begins playing the currently selected pattern when I hit record on Cubasis, but Egoist won't.
@matt_fletcher_2000
Nice. I can't hear figure though. And what are you scratching? Some other app?
NEVER MIND!!! Got it.
Figure is the baseline, I'm scratching serato not using iOS
Drat, was really hoping this was for iPhone too. Oh well, iPad it is.
Hmmm yes it does work for me. Are you maybe in keyboard mode in egoist by mistake? (The little button on bottom left?). is egoist set to 'external' 'host start'? does it say iaa on the very top left button in egoist? Do you see the iaa transport controls with the cubasis icon in egoist?
nevermind, you got it
Thanks, AG.
I think we need a video
Yes IAA is very inconsistent, fingers crossed for IOS 9
What of?
