    What of?

    Half-kidding but your rapid-fire:

Are you maybe in keyboard mode in egoist by mistake? (The little button on bottom left?). is egoist set to 'external' 'host start'? does it say iaa on the very top left button in egoist? Do you see the iaa transport controls with the cubasis icon in egoist?

Made me think I'd like to see you/someone connect up Patterning and Egoist step by step. This is largely because I love Egoist and I'm also a slow learner :)

Do you have cubasis? Essentially that is the mothership under which I run both. Basicly Egoist and Patterning are like gadgets in cubasis, although I do not sequence them per say but just play and jam in realtime, recording the audio. Then it ends up in a DAW on the PC. Soon i am betting Auria Pro will be the new mothership under which i run them and there will be no need to do the PC daw step, at least it will be less important to the process. Fingers crossed anyway.

    Cool.

I suspect a lot of my music is subconsciously heavily train influenced.

    Train...tracks. ;)

I have played around with cubasis and patterning for a few hours now and the sync has been audibly perfect on my ipad air. this is also running egoist and thor or magellan. At least the sync has been good enough for these non drummer ears. I am much happier than i was with DM1 who required constantly restarting of playback and even better than seekbeats which was pretty good. This is smooooth. When the cpu is bogged from all the general app overhead i find the only real hit i get is that it is slower to switch drumkits which makes sense that something has to give but really hats off that it is tuned so well as not to mess with the sync.

Now would be great if Cyclop had this seamless transition thing going for it, as opposed to the whole world tilting on its axis and everything flying, hehe. Heh, it is likely to be the new bar for apps at some point, 'is it seamless'?? Heh, patterning is the Fury Road of Ipad drum machines.

thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. That sounds indeed good.Already heard a lot of good things about the Seekbeat sync.I saw the new Elastic Drums update now which was also a reminder that i still don't have it...duh.I prefer the synthesis engine and the UI of Elastic drums but Patterning seems to have such a fresh approach that it's worth to give it a try.And solid sync is the best argument for it.

  • Small cosmetic suggestion: let people add pictures to their created kits. Pretty sure the DM1 lets you do this. Why would it be cool? For sharing kits.

    Yeah, would be nice.

  • It's a good track for this thread though. :)

  • @benkamen I loaded a 3 min mp3 and it loaded fine without any crashes, it did load slowly but it worked great. I would like to see more than 20s maybe 1 min if you need to add a limit.

As far as export options, I would suggest individual patterns or entire song. Maybe even individual tracks and patterns.

    Amazing app by the way.

  • If 3 minutes loop is fine, so why bother put the max limit cap on? That would not make sense simply because of crash on it. So in such situation, I will not vote for 20 seconds or whatever limitation on Patterning samples import.

    +++++ 1000000

yep no need to limit it beyond it's limits, keep it flexible imho and pretty please.

  • Anyone else getting audio cutting off on one side every now and then? Even the mixer graphic gets chopped in half.

Just a guess. Is the channel that is cutting off in a choke group?

  • i mean the sound just comes out of one side, like one speaker, until i restart the app. Even the visualizer on the mixer becomes blank or a solid rolid red block. All sound output

  • @AudioGus is one of your samples really really loud and panned to one side?

  • I doubt you made the same mistake Mr. Gus, but I did have one sample exhibiting the same problem and finally realized I had (somehow) slid the panning over....

No it just happens when i am jumping through kits... Potentialy too fast.

    Fantastic app :)

Any chance of adding ability to save different midi setups/routings?
One good thing of this app is the midi out features and it takes a while to setup to different apps midi note combinations. Would be great to save and recall different setups. :)

@benkamen As a dumkopf I would love a simple two minute video on midi connecting....

  • definitely ! might be a few weeks though!

  • @JohnnyGoodyear

Hehe, I will hire an airline stewardess, she be kindly to serve and connect midi for you!

I'm putting this in my Big Serious Calendar and will check back :)

That's my problem....there are no stewardesses anymore....

  • Ok just bought an hour ago and super impressed by this app. Never had a drum app that feels so fluid and natural, and that hadn't left me wanting for features. I really like the master eq/distortion too.

Hidden icing on the cake.. Rock solid midi clock with samplr!

It frees up all six channels in samplr for melodic samples and with audio bus remote I'm guessing I can switch patterning patterns without leaving samplr. That is really great.

I was switching back and forth between samplr and patterning for an hour just jamming on an ipad3 and it didn't miss a beat. So happy with this one. I even created a blank pattern in patterning for dropping out the beat which was nice.

  • nice MirEko, so are you on 8.4.1 and has anything not been working right for you?

Im curious about how you integrate it with Samplr. Can you expand?

Just 8.4. Haven't updated to the latest. I think it's a little bit slower than 7.
