  • On sale until Dec 1. Not sure if IAPs are also on sale, anyone familiar enough with the normal prices to tell?

Thinking about impulsation. Is it THE convolution reverb for iOS? Should I wait for ifx rack to go on sale instead?

  • Love a Rhodes but is there any point in NSK 2 if you already have NSK1 and Electric Vintage?

  • @gregsmith Yeah IMPULSation has matched it’s lowest price ever. People argue between it and Thafknar, but they each have their advantages. Looks like Thafknar is free now, but requires A $2.99 IAP to get the convolution.

There's probably no real difference but I tend to use iMPULSation for reverb and Thfknar for guitar cabs. Speaking as a licensed Altiverb user on the desktop, the price of both IMPULSation and Thafkner is still a giveaway at full prices! :)

Agreed, no need to get iMPULSation if you have Thafknar already.
I wish the old AltiSpace would ever have become available as an audio unit...

Edit: V2 is here - seems like they've dropped the great envelope function though.

NSK2 is definitely more powerful than NSK1, with more sounds, although it’s interface is quiet different (personally I prefer the old interface).
I can’t honestly say it sounds superior to NSK1 but I haven’t spent ages A/Bing the two.
The main reasons, IMO, to get NSK2 are that it will definitely be supported in the future (not sure about NSK1), disc streaming - allowing you to store all the samples on SSD rather than taking up space on your iOS device, and that fact it is universal.
Electric vintage is great, but nothing like as powerful as NSK2 when it comes to fine-tuning your Rhodes.

  • PureSynthPlatinum at ten bucks? Incredible deal. Also you can put Tines, and other GM apps in it. Very good upright piano inapp there as well..

  • I've been hoping for this sale. Just bought nsk2, mksensation extreme, and / puresynthplatinum. Tempted by impulation....

Would have loved a clav for my iPad-sounds-only reggae gig last night, but the day after is still seriously cool

It is, only drawback is size, and u can use SSD or HD for sounds. If IAP are on sale you can have several of their apps inside PSP.

  • The newer mksensation is the only one I haven’t picked up yet from GM
But I think I have enough synth sounds on this pad already

  • Quick question? I can’t decide whether to go for the all time ab forum page record? Lol, I have no idea what that even is.. or start/maintain a Black Friday to NYDay sales thread, to keep it more compartmentalized. I was waiting for the first big wave of app sales and it looks like BF is starting a little early this year.
    So…. Options
    1. New end of year sales thread
    or
    2. keep this one going til 2022

    Quick show of numbers.

    1. Keep this going B)

Good job on the gig and excellent bargains.
The best clav on iOS IMHO is the IAP in Korg Module. May well go on sale again soon for £4.99. Be sure to pick it up. You don’t need Module Pro.

I am also missing headphone jack in the current iPads. I'm still using iPad with headphone jack, but I wonder what is the quality of headphone jack in various types of adapters. Is it the same or similar quality to native Apple or is it noticeably worse?

Even the diminutive Apple adaptors (both Lightning and USB C) are mini-DACs that work at 48k so the sound quality is comparable.

If you're looking for the best audio quality you'll end up needing to acquire a USB C hub of some sort (with PD pass-thru charging) and an audio interface. This will enable you to utilise far higher sample rates and will have lower latencies.

But if you're only thinking about portability, the mini Apple adaptors are all you'll need.

    Thank you @jonmoore

@Poppadocrock: I think as well to 2) keep this one going til 2022. Then you can create a new thread "2022 iOS App Sales and Discussion" to separate 2021 from 2022 :)

I don't know who started creating these tables, but I added a tab for Black Friday 2021 as if anyone want to add some rows to the summary. I separated APPs from IAPs and added a column with the end time of the sale - sometimes the date is given in advance. Started with some IK Multimedia for the begining :)

  • My thoughts about "MKSensation Xtreme" in the context of "Module Performance Expansion" IAP in Korg Module Pro.

If someone need layer/split and midi CC learn features I think instead of buying "Module Performance Expansion" IAP for $30, better is to buy "MKSensation Xtreme" app for $13. The MKSX is also AUv3 host, so you can use Korg Module Pro presets inside MKSX with not only 2 layer like in Korg Module Pro, but even with up to 8 layers. The same with split, not only 2 split part, but up to 8 individual parts. Midi CC learn is also included.

Apart from that it is a full app with a pack of great ePiano and others sounds, build-in FX, etc. Great app for live performance with simple and quick "live set" feature, where you can mix not only build-in presets, but also different AUv3 preset from different apps. Just purchased to complete my MIDIculous / Gospel Music apps collection.

Ps. I like Korg apps and I have a lot of them, but I don't really understand how the Korg in the app with "PRO" in the name, sells the basic functions such as layer/split as IAP for $30!

Which iOS are you on? App Store says MKS X does not work with iOS 15

I completely agree. Right now, the performance expansion IAP of Korg Module doesn’t make sense compared to MKSx. Too expensive. Plus, in MKSx you have many other sounds for half the price of the Korg option.

iOS 15.0.1 and MKSX works fine. I think last sentence in AppStore description is out of date.

  • Thanks for the comments.

Right on. So far keep this one going is leading the polls… still open though…

I am planning a 2022 thread which will start Jan 1st, so it starts and ends on the exact days of the year. Any important sale carry over I will probably post at the start.

  • OT - Game

True Skate is a pretty fun skateboarding game that’s currently free usually $1.99, IAP’s are not needed, but add additional content.

  • Hmmm, Wondering if I should get this, even though I already have Puresynth platinum and most of the IAPs (Bassalicious 2, FM Tines, etc)

Yes, but you are purchasing in apps, not plugging in. Here is what’s available. (Apparently BASSalicious 1 is free now tho $6.99 as inapp). I think you just get the presets but can tweak from PSP. (Don’t hold me to that, but it makes sense.

Bassalicious is a good sounding app.
I got this one just before I got the Moog Model D as I was
after some of the bass sounds that were used by Parliament Funk.
Add a third party filter as well as using it's own built in filters.
    It's really fun.

  • @LinearLineman I completely agree with you. Pure Synth Platinum is wonderful for anyone who plays piano or similar keyboard instruments - it’s great to just flip from preset to preset as you play.

  • Alright. Sounds like we will just keep rolling with this one…
