Well, this is quite a big topic, of course.
I don’t, know if This is the best explanation there is, but here is one:
Modulation parameters like e.g. tune, decay, pan etc. can sometimes be controlled via MIDI CC. It depends on the controlled sound device. In Octachron you can reach them by tapping on velocity in the buttom left and scroll down in the popup. We also describe that in our manual under „Modulation“. Maybe you can also have a look at the two videos on our website www.octachron.de
In our demo video at 0:38 you can see how the modulation parameters of Ruismaker FM are affected by MIDI CC commands.
And in the video of Jakob Haque he also talks a lot about MIDI CC
For Ruismaker, Ruismaker FM and the Korg Gadgets we already have pretty strong CC midi mapping presets in Octachron. So I would recommend these apps for a start.

Responding again to this comment from a while ago... I'm just wondering if it's on your list to add this facility? I feel it would add a lot to the flexibility of the app.

Yeah, I want this, A big missing feature, that stops me using the app more. This should also work with probability to add loads of variation from one pattern.
The other thing I want is the ability to move a track or note (like HH) off grid (option to nudge before/after). What I'm doing at the moment is recording MIDI into Koala, then moving off grid.
Hi @TasTax ! Beg pardon if this has already been requested as a feature update but: Both Roland Zenbeats & Logic's step sequencers feature bipolar timing "offsets" per step. This is SO great for creating different feels in sequences, that is different than just swing or shuffle. This can, for examples, create a feeling of urgency with rushed kick drums, or laid-back with very-behind-the-beat snares, or groove with high-hats that are nearly off the grid.
Might it be possible to add a bipolar (meaning, ahead of the beat, or behind the beat) timing offset to the modulation row options like velocity, CC modulation, & probability?

yes, triplets would also be great of course, and we have them on our list.
You can now only mimic it a little if you set step repeats to 3.
And yes, as I already wrote before, we are also already working on nudging back and forth.
It is quite tricky though, and we had to rewrite the complete engine for it.
But we are very happy that it basically runs now. It just hasn’t all the features of the current one yet.
As we can run OCTACHRON only as a side project beneath our regular jobs, it will still take a while to complete it. But we hope to achieve it this year.

@TasTax anything on the roadmap for a recording midi into octacron? Programming drums is something I do by feel (and with some how to drum googling) so I suck and clicking little boxes.

I already did that on August 25th..
I am struggling to get pattern changes working in Loopy Pro. I've set up some LP buttons to "adjust midi AU parameter", selected Octachron and used the commands to "activate pattern 1" etc. I have the next option on "assign value" (rather than the toggle or nudge values, though i did try toggle too). Then there is the "value" toggle, which I activated, though there's no option to select a particular value. I can get the pattern changes to work ONCE after I do this, then they stop doing functioning.
Has anyone manage to make this work? Seems baffling, and I've tried to search for an answer, as surely someone has been through this before, but to no avail.
(Talking patterns not presets here)

I seem to have solved my own problem.
I set each button to toggle rather than assign, and added another exact same action to each button, with a slight delay.
Toggling the button a second time seems to allow the other buttons to function, and doesn't do anything to disrupt the pattern playing.
A bit weird but it seems to work.
I am having some issues since the last iOS update (18) with Octachron in Apematrix. It doesn’t save the ‘mute’ settings behind the lanes anymore. After a restart of Apematrix and loading my preset, all mutes are gone. Even after saving inside Octachron it doesn’t remember what’s muted and what not.

@TasTax Sorry if this has already been brought up somewhere. I’m currently experiencing an oddment where if I load two instances of Octachron, they are forced to share midi maps. Loading a map switches the map in the other.
I’m using the latest version of Octachron, on the latest version of iOS 17 (not 18).
