    It's quite a learning curve (modular in general, every time you come across a new module), but I approach it like a Sudoku.

    I know what I want to achieve, and I usually know a place to start (e.g. let's feed the oscillator into the filter). And then I build step-by-step from there. It's a puzzle really - and that's what makes it fun (for me at least :D).

    Seems to be a correct assessment from my viewpoint, or at least a nearly correct assessment. I have a feeling this is the "gateway" app that'll finally help me understand modular synthesis if watching Jakob's near-50-minute-long video is anything to go by. That video not only helped me understand Solderbox but eurorack-styled modular synthesis in general! Plus I love that Bram and Jakob added small inconsistencies in Solderbox to mimick analogue voltage and such (it's towards the end of the video). To make the machine "breath" a bit more as it were. Bloody brilliant stuff.

    This was Jakob's Hilda video for me. Frankly that app is probably the 3rd most important app in my journey for musical interests. It led me to Drambo, which led me to here. Which led me to Hilda. I got way too in the weeds, from being a Koala only guy, then diving head first into Drambo and was out of my depth 100%. Too many concepts, too adhd, not enough therapy or meds yet to confront that earnestly lol.

    I got a few apps on sale and that was cool but I had too many questions about Drambo still so I almost avoided it

    Then I saw that BF sale for Bram's app and you all here kept going on about Hilda 🙄 😅 - so I watched Jakobs Hilda video and it like opened up this whole idea of music I wanted to create and I understood conceptually what modular could do for me creatively and the terms from Hilda made sense for some things I was trying in Drambo and it was like 🤯

    I did a rewatch at Jakobs hilda video recently after his modular set up one and honestly you can see that of course these two would collab next. He shows a real love for Brams apps and he really makes Hilda sing and do wonders.

    So when I saw Bram and him on this after OP's post I jumped over to YT and clicked that App Store link lol.
    This was an immediate "I know this will be really good" - SO in a way, this is like full circle for me. Cheers ABF LPF.

    When drambo first came out i was learning stuff every day about it! But i went back to AUM and other MIDI apps and now I’ve forgotten all that i knew haha its kind a over whelming but ben made some excellent videos that i need to run back thru and see what other stuff is out there.
    I actually understand mirack better than drambo which is probably weird.
    Hilda is amazing, one of the best synth apps ever made and now this! Too good! I’m running thru the presets and seeing all the possibilities.

    Yes, it should indeed! It takes a bit of extra dev work, but as an Intel Macbook owner myself, I know it's worth the effort to make it run on any (sufficiently recent) Mac :)

    If it's any help as a data point to judge if the effort is worth it, seeing that it would run on my Intel Mac turned it to an insta-buy. I mean, I usually end up buying most of your apps eventually after putting up some token resistance, but I literally didn't even wait to pick up my phone before deciding.

    The App description says it works on 10.15, but I guess I’m pushing the limits of that one! I’m going to be using it mostly on the iPad and on the Mini, so not a big deal, just wanted to give a heads-up 😎

    Sure, Intel does support AU's and AUv3's if the plugin is compatible and if the host has support.

    The AU plugin opens for me in GarageBand and Fl Studio no problem. It's listed in Live Lite 11 but doesn't open - no AUv3 plugins do (for me).

    Ah ok, don’t think any are showing up for me in v11 (suite) on the Intel. I’ll double check in the morning though. If I select Solderbox standalone nothing opens, and after a few seconds I get a failed to launch error report.

    To be honest I bought it for iPad, the fact it works in Live on my M1 Mini is a bonus, works perfectly on there.

    In modular I usually only half-understand what I am doing. The fact that it can surprise me and even seem to come alive and have a mind of its own at times is what I love about it. So don't worry if it seems intellectually difficult--that doesn't really matter so much if you are open to whatever it gives you, even if it's not exactly what you thought you wanted.

    Understood, and I'm not trying to belabor the topic, but only putting out data in case it's useful for anyone else.

    So, I installed Live Lite 12 and after enabling Use Audio Units v3 in settings (it was off by default), Solderbox both showed up and works. I believe Live 11 only supports the older AUv2 plugin format.

    Just posted the first fruits of my messing with it in Creations. I asked myself ‘Can it Dark Ambient?’’ Yes. Yes, it can. :) Though I don’t know if it is ‘contemporary’ enough… ;)
