I remember I had the same feeling when I started working with Apematrix. I just could not get my head around it, a matrix and dots, how the hell does this thing work! But after a little help here it was like.. ah! Once you get it it’s just dead simple and fast.
Started with AUM, and bought ApeMatrix on a whim.
Now when I dip back into AUM, I instantly want that Matrix back. The integrated LFOs, and being able to access 10 apps on one screen… Those two things alone are worth the price to me easily, and there's much more too. I hope it lasts for years still. It's well worth the small amount of money and modest amount of time it takes to lesrn...
Thank you very much! And if you have some time, and think we are a 5 star, a little nice review on the App Store would be absolutely awesome. This just helps us so much ✌️😊
But anyway enjoy!
Best greetings from Munich

No, not yet, but we will put it on our list 🙂
But if you have some time, and still think OCTACHRON is a 5 star, it would be really great if you could leave us a little nice review on the App Store. Of course you can also place your wish for that feature there. This just helps us so much. But anyway, keep enjoying!✌️😊
Thank Markus. I’ve been away so sorry for slow reply. I will drop you a message. All the best Nick
@nickpett @TasTax I was just about to report that I am now also having the problem loading Octachron in saved AUM projects. In order to demo the problem as simply as possible, I created a new project, added one instance of Octachron, entered a few notes, then saved the session. When I closed AUM, re-opened it, then reloaded the last state, it came up normally. I then found that the rest of the projects also now load normally again.
So… you might see if this order of operations also helps you?
It is terrifying, though. I’ve some to rely on this.
Hello @TasTax ,
Love love Octachron, sadly I'm having the same problem since the last update (also ios17 here, running AUM) - midi maps switching upon pressing 'play'.
What also happens is when I reload the correct map on one Octachron, it changes over the maps of all the others in a kind of tug-of-war (I was sequencing Pure Acid drums, Ruismaker, Koala and Patterning from four Octachrons). Only one midi map can be used at a time, I haven't found any way to keep them from switching. Fingers crossed this could be patched up soon!
Have also started having some crashes upon loading projects - sometimes needing to re-load 2 or 3 times.
EDIT: Now have one project where all 4 instances of Octachron crash upon loading 100% of the time. Was getting ready to mix down this one, hope those sequences are still in there somewhere.
Finally had some time to check Octachron in Apematrix, and the bugs seem gone. Many thanks @TasTax
Alright, yes, we are on this …
Cool, great to hear that. Thanks! 😊
@reinerspass @TasTax
I've been away from music making / Octachron for a bit, and I'm loving the improvements that you've made in the interim. Back in May 0f 2023 I asked a question in this thread about triggering patterns in an Octachron guest via MIDI, and at that time this wasn't possible. I've been trying to get that working again today (in BAM this time, it was Drambo last year), and it appears to be the case that this still isn't possible.
Do you guys have plans to implement this feature at any point? I love Octachron, but my only real use for it is inside of hosts like Drambo and BAM.
Thank you, and I guess as you know it is already possible standalone.
But we plan to do it within the plug-in as well. But next new features are offset and clock divider per track allowing e.g. triplets. Hope you will like this as well.
Keep enjoying and best greetings from Munich 🙂
Tas
Really please to hear offset and clock divider are next up! MIDI triggered patterns sounds good too.
@TasTax and anyone else who’s having the “crashes when loading a session” issue: I have what appears to be a viable workaround for now. I’ve created a session that has nothing but a single instance of Octachron. If I load a session and get the crash, I immediately load this single-instance session, in which Octachron seems to reliably load without incident. I then reload the original session, and Octachron behaves. Hopefully this info might also assist troubleshooting.
well, i just load a session again and again until it works
@pseudophysics My experience is that if you keep AUM open while switching or reloading sessions (except for the workaround I just mentioned), it works fine. But when I come back to a session after some downtime, I have a better than 50% chance of it failing, and needing to implement the workaround. No idea why. My setup isn’t particularly exotic, and I’m on a reasonably hefty Pro running the latest iOS 17.
Awesome
thanks for the reply. So nice to be able to be in touch with devs like yall on here. Good luck with the fixes!
@TasTax Heya, a little request… If you have the hood up anyway on Octa, I’d love to see more options in the trig conditions. Mainly elektron style NOT options for each time variation.
Using primarily with Gladstone, Oneshot atm- not a single session in aum gets created without our anchORON. Thanks again for the dopest universal drum sequencer on iOS(imo)
+1 for this
I keep on having issues with Octachron not wanting to load when I launch a saved preset in Apematrix. I have to tap on the empty slot a couple of times before it wants to load in.
It could be an issue caused by Apematrix(?)
Hello @TasTax ! Happy new year - just wanted to check if any ETA for a fix here? Missing using Octachron
Heyhey @ermwhish!
Happy New Year to you too! And Yes, you are right. We are still on it and trying to fix it. Very sorry for the inconvenience.
Best greetings from Munich

MIDI Mapping
I see you have an issue open for midi mapping issues, I see the following behavior in both AUM and audiobus. Load two copies of OCTACHRON-> on copy one change the midi channel for the kick from 1 to 5 -> go to copy two and the kick will be set to channel 5 change it to 3 -> go to copy 1 and the kick will be set to 3. Both copies are saving the midi setting to the same place, from your reply it sounds like you are hot on the trail. Good luck
@TasTax I saw that a new version has been released, that is supposed to address the "all instances loading the same map" issue. I haven't tried it yet myself, but thank you.
Any thoughts on the "crash when loading an existing AUM project" thing? I don't know what your task queue looks like.
This issue has been resolved version 2.0.5 (193)
My issues both seem resolved also! You guys rock @TasTax big thanks.
The only way I can think of improving the app for my use case is a way to tap in notes. Any chance we might see that someday? When Octachron wasn't working I was mostly using Pure Acid's drum sequencer, and while I missed tons of things about Octachron the immediacy of tapping a rhythm in my head really helped to keep music flowing.
Hey @ermwhish, great to hear that, thx! And yes, life recording is quite a big feature, of course, but we have it on our list.
Best from Munich 🙂
