It’s a miracle. I actually finished a track. Thanks to GR2!!
First thing I have finished in ages on iPad or desktop. I'm liking the balance GR2 offers - options but not too many options.
Question about exporting audio....
When you export audio (song) to the GR2 folder it goes to Samples>Export. If you click to play the file it just opens GR2. Is that expected behaviour? I guess it's more for exporting loops to your GR2 sample library.
For rendering a song to listen to, it seems you have to share the export and save to files. Is that the way it's meant to be done?
I think thats standard ios behavior when you open a file inside an app folder, ive seen it before with flsm
And congrats on finishing music!
@cokomairena thanks. Yeah it's fine once you get used to it, just seems counter-intuitive at first to share your song instead of save to export folder.
I insert an instance of Neon in a Master Bus FX slot to capture the mix. I can trim, normalize, fade, convert output format and share easily from within Neon.
@GRiker interesting approach
So you can record arm in Neon to capture on playback?
Yes. Rewind GR2, enable Settings | Audio Monitor (ON), enable Sync, then touch Record to arm.
It’s a good idea to put a limiter or maximizer in front of Neon, as recommended in the GR2 manual. So I usually put Neon in the last of the 3 Master Bus slots.
I want to thank @jwmmakerofmusic especially for looking out on this one
This is certainly at the number one spot for app of the year
Man this is the Best groovebox i ever saw, or touched. And it’s really gorgeous
Thank you so much Jim
Your kindness and support will always be remember and appreciated
And Fwiw I still think you are the absolute best producer on our awesome forum and our little community, capable of doing any genre and this app would be candy for you, so I get why you love it so much
Again, thanks Jimbo
[And thank you @Michael - if you didn’t make this forum basically “open source” for all iOS and iPadOS dev, I don’t know where I or we would be right now, especially me man, thanks to you from the bottom of my heart ]
You two are true, blue friends, and true experts at what you do respectively, but most of all , good human beings man

With that said Groove rider 2 rules !!
I agree 100% mate! Groove Rider 2 rules! And you're a good chap. Take it easy mate. Cheer. 🥂
Found a wierd bug. On the mixer section. If you solo a track and then drag that soloed track, the solo doesn’t follow the track but stays on the same track position.
Seems to work fine here.
Correction: its doing the same exact thing here, so yeah, I guess that is a bug.
Thanks for confirming
Have to say it is a big downer not to be able to monitor audio input and use guitar auv3 like tonex.
Have you tried routing the part directly to an FX bus or a Master FX where AUv3 FX can be loaded? You can do that with the Button at the top of the output section at the right of the part.
Too late tonight to try myself, but I'll give it a go in the morning.
Thanks for chiming in , i guess it will work but i like to have reverb and delay on my sends..
it could have been an amazing additionn if we could route to the individual send slots ( 1,2,3, )
That would have been great. Also minimal but opens more auv3 possibilities.
I think many people also play guitar and would love to have audio input monitor WITH tonex or whatever on top..
The app is great though and really fun and friendly. I guess those are the only things that crucial from my point if view
41 pages of postings already?
Impressive!
And this was more or more easily possible with GR2, compared to GR?
I mean, what exactly made it more easy for you in GR2 than in GR?
And a general question: How does GR2 compare to nanostudio 2?
It seems to have very similar features ....
I don't think it's like NS2 at all, tbh. For a start, the main song structure mode is clip mode, which isn't even in NS2...
If you have a timeline of notes or a timeline of patterns of notes ... is sure a difference, but not essential for me.
If it otherwise is comparable to nanostudio 2 in regard to capabilities, work flow and ease of composing stuff, that would be enough for me.
But you say "not like it at all", which hints to other major differences or even lacks?
Yeah, not the use case in this app sadly. I would love it to be implemented using layers (passing the audio from one layer to the next, and having the first layer receiving input)
You can route to individual MFX slots, and you can set the MFX slots to be parallel. That's a very limiting route, but still leaves the sends free. It would all be a lot easier if we could put AU effects on the inserts.
If they're excluded from there because of the part parameters, I'd gladly have an option to disable those when AUFx are in use on inserts.
Yeh, I'm not gonna lie, GR-2 is not an encouraging environment for recording guitar and vocals, etc.
Yep.
I'd say Cubasis 3 is great for recording live tracks as well as general music production. Best of luck to you.
GR2 has plenty of similarities to NS2 in terms of its timeline workflow, piano roll, efficiency in getting ideas down quickly, etc. GR2 has limitations that NS2 doesn't have, like being limited to 3 IFX per part (track), no AUv3 on the part IFX, etc. But I've managed to create some really great tracks in GR2 just fine.
Thank you, @jwmmakerofmusic
Of course.
Let me know if you ever have specific questions.
Found this already: https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/64094/my-xperience-with-groove-rider-2-aka-the-making-of-a-new-album
Cheers mate.
Well, if you still have specific questions, feel free to ask me there on my thread. I'm always ready to (over)explain.
@busaudio I never had GR1. I like GR2 because
If you like making electronic music and are familiar/used to the ableton style workflow, then I think GR2 offers a unique experience. It's like ableton, but a bit more like a groovebox. A great combination of both worlds implemented really well.
Thank you, @soundtemple
