No issues here. I'm not playing fast though. Maybe I'm just not sensitive to it.
Ha, that wasn't very clear eh? 😅
What I meant is a finding a way of looping a 1 bar length of the Bleep app. I want to generate different sections with Bleep and arranging them into a song. In LP, I would just hit a donut to record it but I still have to figure out how something similar could be achieved in GR2.
Well, I had a few minutes to go and check out and to answer myself, I think a good way is to record the loop into the sampler. Pretty straightforward and gives the ability to edit the sample.
OK, that's easy.
You can record from any part to any other part using the input source, so you don't necessarily need to have the sampler on the same part as Bleep. Also, you can minimize the sampler window if you need to get to Bleep's controls while sampling.
Oh, this is cool! Thanks for confirming and for the extra bits of info!
Can you easily record a bounce from a sampler? I still find getting bounces out of this very clunky.
Say you had a four bar loop of an initial idea in a couple of samplers and added a bass line and a synth, how do you easily just get a quick bounce of all four elements playing twice over 8 bars?
I’m back with my basic questions. Has anyone worked out how to record a fill in song mode? Pressing shift activates fills, but it doesn’t seem to save it to the automations.
No it’s definitely a latency issue. I’ve tried every other daw/groovebox/drum app I can think of.
What do you find clunky?
For me it's only the lack of ability to tie the sampler record button to the GR-2 transport. It's a pain to have to trim samples from internal playback every time. Other than that, it's smooth as silk to me.
Solo the tracks you want, then set up a new sampler and set the input to "Master".
This would be nice! Have you written to Jim about this?
No. I don't do much internal sampling myself.
@wim I think you would notice it even when playing slow, so might be an issue on my end
Is that still an issue? I've been considering picking up Drambo, but only if handles auto-quantize on record correctly (along with other specific things it does seem to do).
I have the same iPad Pro 12.9 M1 ( I have the 1 TB version w/16GB RAM ) and I see no latency issues with onscreen pads and/or keys at all.
so, GR2 became my most expensive piece of software for now – because version 1.1.0 made me order Launchpad Pro
I’ll try that thanks. It’s a good example of clunky. I’d just like a bounce button that records what’s being played and allows me to save it to files for listening back.
Thank you. I’ll try a complete wipe/reinstall.
Reinstall didn’t fix the latency issue. It’s so weird, I tried OG Grooverider 16, Beathawk, Gadget, stuff in Cubasis/AUM etc. GRII definitely has latency issues going on, especially with drum rack it seems. Impossible to finger out a fast beat.
Yeah, it’d be nice if you could just bounce whatever you have in between the loop markers.
But still, i feel it’s not all too terribly clunky.
However, i get it. Whenever my Obsessive Precision Sampling Disorder flares up, I like to put an instance of Flexi Sampler (Drambo) on a Send Bus. Flexi has the ability to have Record Start and Stop quantized to the bar. Then i can simply drag and drop the sample onto a Koala pad. But that’s for special use cases.
are you using a pitch shifting fx?
you can render the current pattern in the menu
Sorry, I don’t know, only cause i no longer work that way. Also, it could have been Arp Bud. I never did narrow it down.
Not if you’re playing something like an external sequence from something like DM10 you can’t. It can’t record anything sequenced without printing to midi first, then adding a sound source and then either recording a ‘song’ part or now capturing the master output in a sampler as suggested above. This is also likely the reason you can’t use the sequencer in the native Pure Acid.
Think of Koala and the wonderfully simple ‘Record Song’ functionality where it just records everything going to the master output and allows you to save the file for playback - that’s what I’m getting at.
I would like to have AUv3 fx per part…Up to 3 will be enough for me and will be compatible with the actual ergonomics. This is becoming very frustrating as I can’t really use my new toys (Bleass Tides for example) inside GR2. Using AUv3 fx in the bus is not a solution…
Is there any chance that Jim will implement this in the parts?
Just put koala on the master then?
Edit: maybe adding both gr2 and koala as IAA in AUM would let you swipe koala from the side of the screen at any time you want to record?
Yes, in the absence of providing an easy way to efficiently get stuff out of a DAW, workarounds are the only way to go.
No fx. But pitch shifting wouldn’t affect latency tho. It’s weird.
When you create a sample from a Part or Master and press SAVE…where is that sample saved?
GR2 continues to impress. I’ve got a Roland 707 Groovebox that I’ve packed away because this is so much easier to use. 100% amaze balls.
Haha nice one!
I had a LP Pro that I had up for sale and decided not to sell it after the GR integration came out. There's lots to love about it. It's done really well for the most part. The sequencer and perform pages are particularly good and the clip view works as expected.
I've never been a fan of the way the LP handles faders. It's not accurate enough for me and this reduces the effectiveness of the mixer mode. Always hard without knobs. I'm hoping for the ability to add an additional controller to the LP Pro so I can have some actual knobs.
Also, hoping device control (sound page) will be added into the LP Pro at some point with the blue box and some effective way to control parameters.
In chord mode the 16 pads on the LP seem to trigger notes instead of the chords as shown on the pads.
Also, make sure to set your custom text screen saver in Settings / Midi / Screen Save Text !!!
