Hi there @launchpadforios
I uninstalled the app and reinstalled back again, but I can't restore previously purchased content, I tap on that and nothing happens. This happens on iPad and iPhone.
Please help
Edit: the content downloaded eventually, thanks anyway
At present it can't. However we'd love for it to be a master (Due to TimeStretch/CPU limitations), and send MIDI clock to other apps and external gear.
Yes (except the last reverse bit)
Yes, but only from our wonderful array of hardware controls ;-)
Honestly, this last bit isn't necessarily because we really want everyone to buy our kit as such, it's mostly a resource and focus thing, which means we have to prioritise. There is a benefit though, in that we can make sure the integration just works.
Check this out as an example:
Greets and welcome to AB! Have just learned (and bought) Launchpad - and having great fun with it.
BUT - it would be SUPER if there was a PAUSE button so you don't have to destroy an entire layout just to get it to... PAUSE or stop for a bit.
@Launchpadforios Hey guys,Thanks for such a great app I love it! It's a hell of a lot of fun!
A few months ago on this forums excellent song of the month club I posted a song that I wrote with just your brilliant 80's retro pack.If anyone fancies a listen it's here. Thanks again guys!:D
This video is great. Good section on the Launchpad. The History of Novation.
Frustrating day so far.
Recorded song with Launchpad while jamming. Sounded ok so thought we'd put it into Cubasis to work on it. Sent recorded part over and it sounds dull.
Listened again on Launchpad and it sounds much better, so tried to record it straight into Cubasis, first via IAA, then AudioBus. No joy. Will not record and most of the time won't open as IAA.
This all on top of iGrand etc not working in AudioBus and Diode 108 not responding to midi in.
I am beginning to see why many people find iPads frustrating for recording.
so are follow actions coming to the launchpad app?
We're aware of an IAA issue, but we weren't aware of this as an AudioBus Issue? We'll take a look at it. We're sorry we added to your frustration. When you just want make a tune, technology shouldn't get in the way.
We can see your keen for this Kobamoto. We've used follow-on actions ourselves quite a bit on the Launchpad hardware with Ableton (see the video for a particularly silly Six-Launchpad follow-on set extravaganza at 3m10seconds)
So, we would like users to take a piece of audio and do fun things with it just like follow-on actions , but for us, there maybe a new way to do this kind of thing. One that might just be more suitable to the iPad ;-)
GO TO 3 MINUTES 10 SECONDS

Hello @Launchpadforios person,
Yes, that looks like fun, but it's all with Ableton, currently your app couldn't do this (?)
I look forward to when it can (in some manner), then my Launchcontrol and Launchpad mini will get more use with the app
A thought:
Could the app integrate some kind of visual representation of the samples and the ability to move loop points / markers around in those samples ? In my view, that would take it much further.
I've got to say, all the apps I mentioned, I love and use a lot. Launchpad is great for triggering live. In fact, I would go so far to say that an iPad is a great live instrument in many ways.
As a recording device, the little niggles are starting to show themselves. I know all devices have problems, but iOS needs to be tighter. I tend to be using many more separate apps then I would programs on a computer. I'm no expert, but I believe it may be down to Apple to take the lead and make it easy for music apps to communicate efficiently.
Keep the cool sound packs coming though, they are really a lot of fun to jam with.
So, we would like users to take a piece of audio and do fun things with it just like follow-on actions , but for us, there maybe a new way to do this kind of thing. One that might just be more suitable to the iPad ;-)
I'm a heavy ableton live/ launchpad user so definitely familiar with that combo, but if you've got something even better planned for the iPad when might we see the details on that cause that would be quite exciting?
Where can I find Bpm info on the iPhone version? Thanks
I am considering a launchpad/launch control purchase for use with the iPad Launchpad app, I will be buying separately and at different times and have some questions to help with my decision and to determine which versions and what order to purchase in.
Apart from the obvious, 'I want a button instead of a screen to press', the hardware is intended to get around the current current limitations I have with using the app (which may be down to my lack of knowledge). As I have never used either pieces of hardware I would like to know if these issues would be resolved by using the hardware, or if there is a way within the app to get around them.
When using the effects/filers/volume you lose access to some of the clips.
I am unable to control filter and volume and effects at the same time.
Will Launch Control or Launchpad allow me to control volume filter and effects at the same time ?
Will both versions of Launch control do this ?
Which form factors go well together i.e pads for the columns are aligned. Launchpad Mini and Launch Control or Launchpad S and Launch Control XL or other combinations ??
If MIDI Clock gets added I would look to purchase a Circuit to add to the setup, which form factor does this suit, again all columns aligned ??
Do any versions of the hardware have any advantages over others ?
Thanks
Andy
Keeping an eye on this, as I'm considering the same.
Being able to use Launchpad in the background, while using a synth app on the iPad screen looks so much fun.
Yes.
Yes.
I got Launch Control XL with iPad aligned on top. Works perfect, fits perfect for me.
I got my Circuit in front of me and it has a little different alignment - it is more centric and got smaller buttons then normal Launchpad.
We've debated this a LOT. The honest answer is that we're not focusing on this right now. The primary reason is that we believe the phone is mainly a short-term use device, while on-the-go (obviously not in your case though).
Well you guys need to debate this again. I've since deleted your app because of this exact functionality and have definitely NOT recommended it to any other musicians/producers I know whereas I often give Audiobus and Audioshare big props to people who are otherwise unfamiliar with IOS recording (I know many producers/musicians). What you guys, (at least in your specific department) fail to realize is that the demographic who would use your app is either A) Looking for flexibility and convenience (as anybody who writes music knows creativity can hit at the most inconvenient times, not always in a studio) and/or
Is on a tight budget so that desktop software is not available because if we did have Ableton/Pro Tools/Logic on a Macbook, why would we be using an iPad (for serious recordings at least)
I have been in both situations and have been very vocal on here about the fact that one of the reasons IOS recording has NOT taken off (imo) in the professional music world as much as it could is because of the inconsistencies in the general ecosystem. Yes, apps such as Audiobus and talented developers such as Jonathan (of Audioshare fame) are doing a lot for IOS but it's only as good as the weakest link. I also think you guys are missing out on a prime opportunity to fill a void that Ableton is missing in the IOS world. If you do a search, many of us Ableton fans are left out in the cold in the ios world with workaround after workaround, thus killing creativity. Imagine if you were trying to design Launchpad with Linux. Yeah, I thought so. That's what it feels like at times working with ios apps and your app was a really big tease causing musical blue balls (yep I just used that reference) as it's great but I don't always bust out my ipad. I often ride the train and that's when some of my most creative time(s) come so I'm often using apps that are universal and praise them on here often.
And from a company standpoint, this would be a great branding strategy for you guys since Ableton's Push is pretty much your biggest competition. In a month or so, I'll be in the market to buy a controller and had your app actually helped me write music this last half year, I probably would've stayed loyal and bought an actual Launchpad since I'm familiar with it but now, it's just another product in the gazillions of tools out there so I feel no alliance and thus Push is high on my list to purchase.
Lastly, you might think I'm just some random dude venting. I'm actually pretty well connected to the music industry and what I think companies fail to realize is that the best way of advertising something is if a well known and/or respected artist uses your tool. Not some fancy schmancy ad or cool looking design or worse yet, when a well known musician/producer mentions a product , but only for that one time and/or is just pictured with it but not REALLY USING IT. Serious musicians don't give a shit about that. They care about something that just works and gets the job done. Again, if you disagree with me, try shutting down your Mac and use Linux for a few weeks and welcome to my world in IOS.
Ight, peace. I'm outta here
I'm confused. The quote @launchpadforios just said they weren't making development for the iphone a priority. @gjcyrus I didn't see any specific feature requests in your post. Am I missing something?
-> @tyaxtl said:
All correct @tyaxtl. Personally, I'd said go for Launchpad XL. It meets your requirement for volumes, filters, FX etc at the same time, alongside a Hardware Launchpad (Either RGB or Pro)
It really didn't come across as a 'Random Dude Venting' . We know our users really want more flexible music making on-the-go in the ways you suggest. Our prioritisation is the one that keeps us awake at night.
The question for us, without giving too much away, is this: 'Is there a better way to achieve your user goals, than the obvious feature addition of Audio Import to iPhone?'. I'd refer to a well overused quote from Henry Ford that talks about faster horses verse the car?
We are a small team that has a focused goal, to make awesome music making things for music makers on the go. We promise, we'll make that happen. It just might take time, and we want to make sure the things we make are really good.
It also really helps us having a place like this, where if you feel like a good ol' rant, you can, and we will be listening. We really will be listening.
Thanks peeps for the info. Xmas list is now updated
@Launchpadforios I know this is a 'long-shot' but are you guys also 'creators' of the LaunchKey app for iOS?
I love the sounds the synth makes but miss proper editing (all parameters + saving) of the sounds. I sent a request long time ago and got in reply in the lines of 'we'll look into it'. If an iOS Mini Nova ever appears in the AppStore it will be an instal-buy at least for me.
@Launchpadforios
Looks like you were just here, so maybe you're still about.
Where can I find Bpm info on the iPhone version? Thanks
I think it's safe to say that not one serious musician in these forums would have the slightest use for the iPhone version, and it's canned loops; even the "boutique" ones. Artists want to create their own beats / bass, etc. in things like Patterning, Sector, etc., then bring them into LP for live triggering. There may be an audience for the crippled iPhone version, but it's not musicians. And musicians will spend. Without custom import, it's a toy. There's no escaping that.
Just peck around the forums here, and look at what people are using. Heck, by virtue of the fact that the unifying environment here is Audiobus, it's safe to say that ZERO users want to put canned beats into that input slot.
I'm not saying there's no audience for the default sounds... I'm merely screaming that audio import should be a top priority for the next update.
Nice find. I love that it opens with the cofounder in his studio and he flubs a note in the first scene and they left it in.
Do I smell a Novation WASP reissue?
@Launchpadforios I just want to say thank you for the app and the very reasonable prices for the Soundpacks.
Here's another vote for the iPhone version of Launchpad to have essentially the same features as the iPad version. I have an iPhone 6 Plus, and there's enough screen space to play some of the iOS apps like a musical instrument.
This is a track from last week using the iPhone version with the Tech House sample set:
@launchpadforios i deleted all of the official soundpacks but my Launchpad installation is still a gigabyte in size. I'd like to stop deleting the app due to space constraints & just use my own samples but apparently the "delete" function is not really a delete function.
AGREED!!!
