This is getting a little absurd. And, I think some look for arguments where there really are none. Not sure why.

Perhaps some misinterpreted the overall gist my post? Or, they just picked out part of it that my wording rubbed them wrong or something? I don't know, but let me break the original post down to fewer words... and, as is related to the Kauldron app as the original post was intended.

I've noticed predictable patterns in behavior with several regulars here. I have somewhat predictable behavioral patterns as well. I think we all do if you observe long and closely enough. When humans get stuck in repetitive predictable, repetitive behavior... it's kind of boring.

What my original post outlined were the categories of predictable opinions with regard to apps, and pretty much every topic, including politics. Some here react predictably the same towards certain types of apps, words, or politics. I've observed this. If others don't see that, it's not important.

If my original post is read in it's entirety, and not just reacting to the one idea of observable patterns of behavior within certain groups of individuals etc. then what should have been clear from that post, is the following. Just when a seemingly predictable pattern map of how many of the regulars here tend to react to new software, appears to be clear... some new app will come along and completely destroy what had previously observed. And, that I felt it was fascinating when that happens, and that it's cool that all of this can ultimately be so fluid and ever-changing... instead of sticking with the same-old, same-old.

That's it. Nothing negative. Nothing worthy of argument. Just a statement that it's cool when apps come along that causs what appears to be predictable patterns, to become somewhat rippled into chaos.

Ok? Hope so. I like Kauldron. Some don't. Differences of opinion and disruptions in predictable repetition are cool to me. That's all. :)

Okie Dokie. I like Kauldron. Thought I wouldn't based on other's opinions in this thread. I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out to not conform with my expectations and instead is a pleasure for me to use. Cheers :)

Yeah I do the same as @skiphunt and use skip himself as one of the decision influencers. I'm not crazy about Magellan but do like Galileo. I wasn't in the market for another synth app but now with people like skip posting positive experiences I am reconsidering.
The main reason I haven't bought yet is because I have model15 mood zeeon to name a few that I want to spend more time with.
However at this price..... (but when does it end???)

  • After purchasing Kauldron i have a bit more joy editing Magellan, but i still think Kauldron fits much better to my needs. I have compared Filter and OSC of Kauldron and Magellan. Even with having much more Filter models in Magellan i do prefer Kauldron. Same is true with the OSC sound.

  • I’m not sure why but I can get Magellan sounding completely nuts (oh how I miss that bank of presets that got wiped in an upgrade). Kauldron is ace but I haven’t got it sounding completely nuts yet.

Thanks man! Kinda felt like I was getting ganged up on for baffling reasons! lol ;)

Did you get it? If so, what do you think? I’m still diggin it.

  • I’m in the fan camp with Kauldron. Finally got a chance to run it with other synth apps this afternoon. Model 15, Lorentz and Funk Drummer, all in AUM.
I linked up all the arpeggiators and it seemed like Kauldron was somehow out of sync.
I tried different configs of sequences with Kauldron to try and make it fit but it just sounded off.
I’m sure it’s just newbie operator error so I’ll keep plugging.
Wondering if anyone else got this.
And yep, I had Link enabled.

While I can appreciate that most people don’t like a few people having disagreement with something they’ve said, it hardly constitutes us ganging up and stealing your dinner money! Lol ;)

True. I shared my thoughts about this app and varying differences of opinion. And , that it’s fascinating how opinions are so dynamic. Some agree with me, some don’t. No big wup. It’s all good. Cheers

I played with Magellan, Galileo and MiniSynth for awhile before buying this one. I liked most of the sounds I got from them. Magellan is incredible with how much is offered in that interface, but I never quite gelled with it. Maybe there’s almost too much packed into that one.

I don’t have Brice and RedSkyLullaby synthesis skills to carve incredible sounds from scratch, so it’s a huge benefit for me to be able to hit the Spawn2 until I hear something I like, then shape it from there. I think Kauldron has a friendlier interface and multiple AUv3 instance offer fun possibilities. It’s great that we now have more AUv3 synths to choose from, but I’m not overstocked yet, so this one is very welcome. For me it is $4 well spent.

I fit this description to a T. Thanks.

  • That being said I would look forward to additional quality content to work from, particularly evolving pad patches.

If you like the tonality and vibe of Kauldron then I really think you’d enjoy Kaspar. It doesn’t have the Spawn functionality, but Kaspar can get WAY more abstract than Kauldron due to its effects section and layering capabilities. It has the same Arp as Kauldron but Kaspar also has a Chords creator which is pretty slick. Plus that morphing functionality is actually quite useful for creating evolving soundscapes and other unique modulations that would be possible with the mod matrix.

Any of the Kauldron buyers, did you manage to make the sustain pedal to work? Just tried and for some reason it does not work, did I miss something?

Is your sustain pedal working now? Mine works with Kauldron.

Hi , thanks yes! I managed it to work , it wad related to the midi setting within Kauldron,

  • Really enjoying Kauldron as an AU in Garageband.. 10 instances so far on the phone and it’s still holding up  but Im wondering if you can record some automation from the AU in GB... the pads are a nice feature but only seem to work when playing live, would be great to record. Is this a feature that is still coming or is it Garageband that’s the issue here?

True, but I think it will in the future though considering the built-in touch-instruments can already be automated (but the recorded automation can unfortunately not be edited).

That’s what I was thinking, hopefully it’ll happen with the next major update... also more of the new sound packs!

    Which DAWs have AU automation?

  • Beatmaker 3 and Cubasis 2.3

  • Auria and Auria Pro also support AU parameter automation.

10! :o Dang, quite impressive. The most I've attempted so far is 4 in AUM, and that was no problems either.

You‘re right - one can’t hit „write parameters“ and fiddle with the knobs and then recall the performance.

In Auria or Auria Pro one has to add points to automation curves, replay the song part and then adjust the curves until everything sounds right.

I just tried with Cubasis: You can either write all knobs you want to modify in one go. Or if you want to add automation of another knob and do a new write of the automation parameters, you need to first disable the previously written knob automations and just write in the new knob. Afterwards you can re-enable all knob automations for the recall.
In addition to knob twiddeling there is a curve editor.

I can‘t comment on the Beatmaker 3 workflow as i don‘t own the app.

  • @_ki said:

In Cubasis you can only record one knob with the parameter write UI button as far as i know. Changing another button will remove the automation of the first knob.

I've had no problems what so ever automating multiple AUv3 parameters in Cubasis?!
