Splitting clips works fine. Watch my Audio Tracks video from about 8:15:00 (link below). To select multiple clips, de-select all by tapping in an empty area in the timeline and then choosing the multi-select tool and then tap on the clips you want to choose. All of this stuff works.
I prefer having the clips change colors. It helps keep track of things. Maybe they can make it a preference. Same with 0 vs 6 dB.
@anickt ok cheers. While iam here not to hijack the thread but low hiss responded to someone on his Insta apparently. Someone in the forum mentioned it so..apparently says he’s been going through some personal stuff.
I have Rock DM, FunkDrummer, FutureDrummer and MidEastDrummer and have enabled the Send Notes button in each one. I will try AB Midi Bridge and see if that exposes a port. Thank you!
Edit: I’m not seeing any Lumbeat drum apps showing up in AB midi. Possibly I’m issuing something.
Edit 2: Ooh, ooh! Give me a few minutes... I might be on to something...
I heard that somewhere about low-hiss. I think it was Tapatalk. Sorry to hear he’s having a tough time. He said we’ll see a fix soon. Hope so! Also, I’m not trying to be difficult about the issues you’re having, I’m just trying to help out! ✌🏼
I figured it out: I fired up each Lumbeats drum app and then opened Zenbeats. In the general settings from the hamburger under Midi In I was able to assign each app to an individual input. Opened a new song and opened the Midi settings for the drum track and each app showed up as an input. SWEET!!
@anickt thanks for the above video Audio editing but the issue I have is multi select clips on diferent audio tracks select Split tools Set green cursor to Split point Tap Split and does nothing.
I loved Zenbeats (Or stagelight as it was then) and made a few tracks in it. It had very few limitations compared to the other daws and was universal, but I was eventually seduced by xequence/AB/AUM megadaw which is my current workflow. However this still has the ridiculous limitation of no decent way to have audio tracks sync with the timeline of Xequence. I feel like Zenbeats could be the perfect app to plug into this workflow to solve the audio track problem with its timestretching and other audio editing tools. It doesn’t have Audiobus support though right? And there’s no other way for it to fit in?
OK I think I misunderstood. You can only split one track at a time. I’m not sure that any iOS DAW allows multi-track editing. The question came up on a post on the forum recently.
Their virtual ports show up for me if I start the app first outside of AB. Look under System in the MIDI source selection.
@anickt bm3/Auria pro/Cubase2&3/Audio Evolution Mobile. Etc etc. Thats the competition & really like Zen but needs multi select Track editing.
Have you requested this feature through the ZB in-app Support? They've responded to every single thing I've sent via that route.
I got them to show up in Zenbeats without going through AB.
Yeah, everything looks like it is set up correctly. I midi mapped RockDM to match Zenbeats drum machine. Both on channel 10. Tested it with the pads on my MPK261. Pads triggered Zenbeats drums fine, but no such luck with RockDM triggering Zenbeats. Again, probably something not set up quite right...
Yeh, it'a not workin here either. I did learn that Audiobus needs to have the input set to virtual Midi to get notes coming in. I can see them in Midi Spy when I do this. But they aren't going back out the Virtual Midi port apparently. Maybe AB doesn't allow this. I guess my previous experience has always been from another app virtual port to AB virtual port. For some reason RockDM doesn't seem to output to its virtual port, even though it exposes the port. Lumbeats apps have always been a bit unpredictable with virtual midi ports.
MidiFlow standalone app works though. Rock DM > MidiFlow virtual input port > MidiFlow virtual output port > Zenbeats.
[edit] MidiFire works too.
@wim
Just the stand-alone Midiflow? Do you recommend one over the other, Midiflow or Midifire?
I like MidiFire better
2 Quick questions...
1) is there a way to do individual sends for drum pieces, like the obvious snare send to reverb.., I can’t find it.
2) is this the right place to ask about Zenbeats or is there a more specific forum where the likes of @wim and @anickt can keep displaying true patience and answer our endless questions?
@tahiche .. no sends yet for individual hits, but you can add FX on individual hits... you can also do automation on each hit as well. I think that I asked the devs about the sends and it might be on a roadmap somewhere, but I could be wrong. Depending on how complicated your drum pattern is you could always have multiple kits and have the sends that way.... I hope I am making sense as I have been up for way too long.
@Sawiton - no preference for one over the other here.
MidiFire does have the ability to host AU Midi FX. That might be useful in some situations. It's also more actively maintained, I believe.
So, while I don't have a preference, I'll recommend MidiFire.
Yep. That makes sense.
I find fx on each drum a lot easier to work with. You can create patterns, add fx and automation all on the same page. Watch my ZB Drum Machine video. See below.
I try to use sends to reduce cpu usage. I think this could be a good feature, each kit piece is already its pretty much it’s own instrument anyway. Right?.
I had already watched your video, very useful.
Thanks
CPU usage sort of 😱 having a whole drum kit just for a snare makes me shiver. And it might be total nonsense, having a drum kit with just one piece could very well not provide extra strain, it might be psychological.
Meh. Having no luck getting RockDM to trigger drum machine in Zenbeats through Midifire or Midiflow. Maybe tomorrow.
I get you..... I would not do it as well. I am hoping that we can get a sends for each pad. But I have been using some of the internal FX more to shape some sounds..... worked out well on my track I posted earlier.
P.S. I didn't have to make any changes from the default mapping to get most sounds to work. If you're still having problems, maybe try a reset of the midi settings in Rock DM. Sometimes apps use different octave naming schemes, which can throw manual efforts off.
Send MIDI Out from Rock DM to MidiFire and select MidiFire1 as MIDI Input in Zenbeats
Sweet! Love adding effects to individual drums!
One thing to consider. At what point are you adding fx just because you can? When are those fx just making a bunch of noise out of your drum track. The KISS principle will often give you cleaner mixes.
FX are for piling on a crap track until it sounds like you did it on purpose. Sometimes no amount of FX can make a good track sound bad, so it's always best to get it as crappy as possible to begin with so that I don't have to overdo the FX.
I tried and I was able to pass the Rock DM MIDI output into AudioBus 3 and then out to Zenbeats and have i activate the drum track there.
Start with AudioBus 3. Configure a MIDI path with System/Vir Channel #1 on the input and the output.
In the Rock DM MIDI page select AudioBus as the MIDI out target and turn on "Send Notes". Set the output MIDI channel to 1 (or at least match what Zenbeats is going to expect as the correct MIDI channel. I choose 1.
In the Zenbeats MIDI configuration select AudioBus as the MIDI 1 Input source.
ON the mixer page configure the MIDI source for the drum track as "All" or "AudioBus 3".
One tricky detail is that your can hear the Rock DM drums in that app and in Zenbeats you'll hear that dum set of sounds. It appeared that the bass drum and snare were set to the right NOTES. Rock DM allows you to configure the Note value send out for each drum component.
I hope this helps.
MidiFire is an amazing utility for problems like these but AudioBus can also do basic plumbing using virtual circuit endpoints like this.
Is there a way to load a project faster?
