ATOM Piano Roll update is coming soon

Ah, it's worth clarifying this, it's good that you brought it up. Clipboard only works between Atom instances at the moment, but it doesn't matter where those instances are loaded (same project, different projects, different hosts).
This never crossed my mind really, but the implementation might actually be worth investigating!
That light theme reminds me of Ableton Live !
@blueveek Thanks, that makes sense. Clipboard between instances will still be a powerful thing to have available. I suppose if I use Atom 2 as a replacement piano roll in my DAWs then in effect I get what I was asking for anyway!
Beautiful work @blueveek, @tk32, @winconway, and to the other contributors/testers.
@MisplacedDevelopment - You could perhaps pipe your Xequence 2 output into Atom 2, capture the MIDI and then put it into Atom's clipboard (or export to a MIDI file).
I use a similar technique to render my Pure Acid drum patterns into MIDI files.
@tk32 Now that Atom supports import/export then I'll probably go the file route. I'm guessing I could even export MIDI from a DAW and import it into an instance of Atom loaded in the same DAW. Lots of possibilities
Wouldn't be so sure... I'm sure all of the iOS musicians, love the modular aspect of all of this. Personally I have all the DAWs and haven't yet found a workflow which really works 100% for me... (Maybe 100% isn't achievable) However, the use of the new Atom in AUM looks to resolve many of the issues as far as I can tell.
Worth the wait I'm sure.
I'm very excited that we will soon be able to welcome all the users in this thread into the (deep) world of Atom2.
I can't wait to see all the cool things you guys do with it, and the ways you will explore and experiment with the depths of integration and customisation that there simply wasn't time for us beta testers to fully play with.
I have a feeling Drambo and Atom may become good friends.
Drambo and Atom2.... Now there's a thought
Is Atom 2 going to have a file browser? It might seem unusual, but I’d love to be able to save folders of generative midi loops, so that I could just open them across different hosts or projects. (For example, Drambo’s preset management is slightly clumsy in this regard, as it needs to be saved as as a rack).
You can use the iOS files infrastructure, Atom has full integration with the Files app. You can even save and load your MIDI loops to/from Dropbox or Google Drive, they'll show up in Atom!
Bananas!!!
Me too. In fact a ‘middle grey’ theme would be nice (disclaimer: this isn’t a feature request)
You can build it yourself if you can type "
toolbar-bg-color: gray" in a fileIn fact (I've mentioned it before here), check out the scripting and styling documentation. A little bit of CSS and you can change almost everything about the look: https://github.com/victorporof/atom
@blueveek you have my early vote for an Apple Design Award! I love how you’ve incorporated workflow innovation with DIY innovation in a product that is pleasing to the eye. Bravo! I remember the humble beginnings of Logic and Fruity Loops. I can’t wait to see this app three years from now. Perhaps standalone... either way, wow!
Feels like this is going to be a blast when it ships!
I hope Launchpad Pro 3 will be supported out of the box without having to start scripting the moment Atom 2 is installed
Can't help but to wish for an option to replace most daws built-in piano roll editors with Atom 2 for an even tighter host integration. It could be a golden opportunity for Mr. Atom to license the editor and get it 'standardized' on iOS/iPadOS.
Seeing Atom 2 released makes me want to grace it with one of the new ipad Pros coming out and go all out ipad and sell my MBP.
@blueveek and all involved in this project - great job and thanks, really looking forward to seeing this in action and how it will integrate in my setup!
I hav’nt read all this thread, so, perhaps this has been brought up, but, if not, Victor Porof is an awesome photographer also, not only a damn good coder!

You stalker
! Thanks!
Those are some amazing shots!
Can't wait for this to drop. Thanks for all your hard work!

Looks sooooo beautiful
Amazing work @blueveek
Credits also to @tk32 and the rest of Beta testers.
My iPad apps GAS is greatly reduced but this is something I’ve been waiting for (even if it’s not MPE -yet-). Instant purchase
Ah of course. Part of my day job is designing and building websites so I’m all over css. I’ll have to dig in.
I checked out the github repo.... man, that’s absolutely brilliant. As far as I can see it is a professionally designed and comprehensive scripting interface. I’m speechless. You’ve truly built a sequencer like no other on iOS, a MIDI hacker’s paradise.
Programming is done in JS. All code runs in a sandbox, asynchronously, without blocking the audio thread.
Short translation for non developers: JavaScript is like the lingua franca, almost every dev knows it. He designed the scripting interface completely event driven and you can hook your script into almost anything that happens in Atom without disturbing Atom’s operation and are able to utilize a lot of Atom’s functionality from your script.
This is not just a sequencer, it is a frickin’ MIDI sequencing programming platform. I’m expecting great things to come and great times for iOS musicians. You actually built the sequencer that a developer would dream of. Atom has the potential to become the center of a whole ecosystem.
I needed to look at your other github repos.... Sorry, but I have to share this: 50+ open source software projects in 6 different programming languages and swift (iOS programming language) is not even among it.
Just wow.
hey, if you think that's amazing @krassmann you should see the work that Blueveek did to ensure Atom2's timing is the best in the business.
It's like an atomic clock.
(unlike Ableton link)
I can imagine... How to support him best?
Thank you!
Look great @blueveek !
Just one important think to ask: does it record/play sustain pedal (so I can record my piano) and modulation wheel (for vibrato and expression in my phrases)?
@Synthi No CC is recorded in this version, because there's no way to edit. Huge limitation for sure.
