Not in my opinion but they are a lot cheaper (esp on sale) but seem cover a lot more instruments not found in the orchestra. The baroque set with Spanish guitar is a stand out for me.
I spent a ton on isymphonic and can make some serious cinematic tracks using piano motifs midi that get solid reviews by just pushing buttons and assigning quality samples of orchestral sections and soloists. ROLI Noise “Hybrid Acoustics” is another powerful cinematic product. I bought most of the Nouse IAP’s and these gold in there but some bugs with recent IOS versions but re-loads of the GUI tend to resolve most issues.
If you were going to plow money into just one, would it be iSymphonic or StaffPad?
Staffpad if you are ok with pencil notations on music staves. Isymphonic is good for DAW work. Watch staffpad youtube videos before investing the $90 starting fee… the default instrument set is good to make some powerful work. But you’ll eventually start adding extra libraries… Cinesamples has regular 50% off sales and that’s where I spent my $200 so far. Only a couple left.

Yeah, staffpad sounds awesome, compared to other ios orchestral samples. But it’s workflow is really strange. Can’t even imagine, who is their target audience.
Not a fan of Audio Kit’s marketing strategy it is FOMO (fear of missing out) same technique used by the con artists that ran the Fyre Festival scam. Just seems real greasy
Film composers (assuming they want to be paid) and composers that want to hear their music rendered by musicians. It’s uncanny… it renders every time you terminate a new “valid” bar of additional music. So you can hear the current results anytime you hit “play”.
It’s like a DAW on steroids in that respect. Don’t like it. Fix it before adding more notes.
I can’t imagine making this piece I made in Staffpad in a DAW using a piano roll or midi input approach but writing notes works for my brain:

I have to agree here, they are very clear about how this works and they apps provide a lot of value for their money.
I just bought Beathawk after reading about it here,with a percussion pack and the mallets one.
I don’t think I need it, I have a ton of sampler options… but it does look very convenient. The MPc style where you can either have a sound over pad or map sounds across the keyboard seems really handy. Sort of like some of the good things in BM3 in auv3 format.
How and why do you wise people use Beathawk?.
I bought it mostly for the world sounds. Those are sounds that I don't really have anywhere else and it's so soothing for me to play with those. So I bought BH and I'll buy the majority of the World Suite IAPs.
I plan to use it mostly as an AUv3 in AUM and Cubasis 3 and I'm going to sequence it from the outside. The sequencer looks solid, but I don't want to learn so many different tools.
That’s my initial though too. For example, the mallets pack… quick, easy and curated. A lot faster than making your own sample sets in AudioLayer or whatever and going thorough them. I’m intrigued by the toys pack, read about it here too. I have to be careful, this can be a hole in my pocket and I haven’t even started to use it…
Does anyone know if I take out the free trial and download packs I like do they remain after the trial if I don't continue the sub? I have already paid for the pro features so can load packs and samples to the pads

Just got Galileo 2. It is very important that you buy the IAP effect pack. There's a review that says how weak and reedy the sound is in comparison with the first Galileo. I'm guessing that's due to the missing FX. It's another £10 on top of the enormous £4 but then you have a perfectly recreated B3 sound. It is absolutely unbelievable. I was laughing my head off last night, listening to it. So so good.
I certainly hope so.
Are the one shots samples in Beathawk layered for velocity, or is it literally one sample per pad/note?
EDIT: Delete and reinstall fixed the following issue, thanks to @bygjohn for suggesting that, or offloading instead of delete, to preserve presets
Felt like I should give a heads up on this one. It’s the one Auv3 out of a bunch I can’t get to work in anything anymore, like it literally won’t load, in Audiobus, Zenbeats, Garageband, etc. (I am in the latest update of the app btw, but even before then).
I’ve had it for a while too, got it when it was free, and it used to work, but now, it’ll only load up in standalone, but it’s not an IAA either, so can’t load it in other apps that way.
Anyway, it was free for me, so I can’t complain too much, but I did love using it when I could. I’m on older tech (ipad mini 2/3 maxed at ios12.xx), so maybe that might be it too, but again, this is the only one I have that won’t load in hosts, so buyer maybe beware.
No velocity layers in BeatHawk. FWIW, there is MIDI velocity and a 3D Touch Velocity option which changes velocity according the force of the touch on the screen.
I thought that some of the instruments did have more than one layer. The Acoustic Drums Drumkit instrument sample at F#3 has at least 2 obvious velocity layers, unless they are doing some fancy processing to make it sound like there is more than one layer.
One of the nice things about the BH samples is the use of samples for note-off, makes the guitar sound a bit more realistic.
@MisplacedDevelopment That would be news to me. I don't have the Acoustic Drums pack. Are you sure it's not just MIDI velocity changing the loudness?
Agreed. Difficult to like a strategy that, in general, seems to have a low regard for their customers.
They sound like two different samples to me, different pitches rather than just louder. Most of the other drums are more subtle but that one stood out to me. Attached is a sample comparing the two.
@MisplacedDevelopment I don't know what sorcery that is. Maybe someone with the pack can help suss it out. Have you looked at the sample waveform in Pad Mode? I don't see any way of having more than one sample or loop per pad (or key in pitch mode).
