Cool man, thanks for posting these. I love them! All I have to offer is a circuit foam sandwich.

Does anyone here use TB MIDI Stuff? I have started setting up a synth editor for the Circuit but will also set up Midi Controllers for Pattern, Session, FX, etc pages in due course:

Voice, oscillator and mixer page (colour coded for Synth 1 or Synth 2):

  • Tonight: Testing integration into desktop DAW (want to be sure I know what's going on before I try to modStep it later!)

Mostly went according to plan, but I'm not sure all the recorded CC messages are being correctly interpreted when sent back to the device. Need to test some more....

  • Oooh, haven't tried to Fugue Machine it yet! That'll be a fun jape to try tomorrow!

I gave modstep a try and it worked well enough for sending notes and cc but not so much for receiving. In the end it just felt kind of redundant to me. i like those knobs n pads so much. 8) Can certainly see it working well for some peoples uses though.

I thought it would be very cool if you could MIDI record the performance in full (though it looks like the master filter and master volume will not be covered) because that opens up the possibility of getting a full-song multitrack recording together. And that appeals because like you, I've already discovered this box seems to demand real-time loving.

Just got the new Fugue machine for testing, will be running home later to try it with the Circuit! Yay!

  • I am a big fan of Modstep, used to sequence my other MIDI gear triggered by my Launchpad Mini. Sync the Circuit to it, although to be honest have been using my Circuit solo a lot recently.

  • I'm hoping the circuit will be a big success, and they do a new version with a couple of extra synths....and maybe sampling...would be super awesome to get some vocal samples etc.

Just a quick test, but just successfully had Fugue Machine pumping notes from different playheads into different synths on the Circuit & desktop. Very fun!

It might take me a while to figure out the right way to synchronize everything though...

Yah I am seeing the Circuit at a LOT of places in town, it seems much more out there than the electribe was/is. I have a feeling it has wide apeal given the explore and jam factor. I really do hope it is a big success too. I would just love for the usb to support ios friendly audio out and would snag the next version if it does. Would make for recording on the ipad mini on the road a real snap.

  • New lower price on the Circuit! Had been $329, now it's $40 less at $289 everywhere. I just picked up a repackaged unit at $258 from Alto Music.

First impressions, man is this thing fun!

    Welcome!

  • Welcome! But be careful, I lost another 4 hours to the darned thing again tonight!

This is the first time i actually wished i had a longer commute.

  • Not sure if anyone else is as excited as I am about my TB MIDI Stuff Circuit controllers. I agree nothing beats hands on control but I have set up a macro controller page which can be dead handy, want to change macro 2 on Synth 1 the same time as the delay level for your hi hats on Drum 3? No problem! :)

Uploaded the file here too if anyone wants to try it.

  • Nice. I don't have TB MIDI. I may have to re-evaluate that position!

I have yet to try TB Midi Stuff... Can one set up varying automated loops, like with Midi LFOs?

  • No, the midi control is only manual, i.e. via sliders, knobs, x-y controllers or the gyroscope within the iPad. I only got TB Midi Stuff for the built in Microkorg controller and never had any other use for it, until now!

  • Is it possible to use the Gate Edit to cut the note to anything less than a whole note after recording in step mode? I was kind of hoping for a Monotribe type gating edit... down to little tiny blips...... but I can't see how to shorten it at all.

  • Nope, but you can use a short decay with no sustain for the same effect.

  • OK- thanks- so I will need to use the editor for this task when I want to do this with the synths? Hmmm.... whole notes are just too big sometimes. This is slightly annoying.

  • What do you mean by whole notes, just a 1/16th step?

Yes, but you could set a macro to this.

Hi-Yes- when you place a note in step mode you get a note filling that step. You can adjust the gate to make it longer- but I would want to make it shorter- so that you can have little stabbing short notes- but it seems this is not possible without the editor.

    • thanks ghostly606... that is what I was thinking- do you happen to know- is there an actual gate option for allocating in the editor- or is it just decay?
  • It would just be decay, you need sustain to be zero too though.

  • Anyone here used the isotonik editor yet? Let's you design patches from scratch

  • I use it all the time, its great. A nice update just went out for the M4L version, standalone version updates coming very shortly.
