WIcked! The stock drums sounds have been the most underused aspect for me. Coupled with the effects this is going to be awesome.
Now if Audioshare could upload to an attached Circuit..

thanks for the link.but I can't watch the video now.Does the sample import replace ALL the internal samples or only selected ones?
edit:is it possible to pan the 6 instruments (or at least the drums)?
p
I never really cared for the initial drums (they always ended up getting replaced in my mixes and were more like click tracks to me) so I was not that excited about the 'drum patch per step idea' but now that it supports samples I totaly want that feature big time. I sure hope it still shows up some day.
I am really happy with this update, loading up samples is awesome, but largely I am happy because it shows they are supporting Circuit and it means there may be a great future for this line.
Agreed. And with sample import I now crave a way to chose / modulate the sample start point.
Hmmmm, while not drum patch per step this may be useful with modstp plugged in.... "Remotely switch the sound of any of Circuit’s four drums on the fly using MIDI CC messages. From any MIDI source."
This has been in the beta firmware for a while, I've tried it from Ableton and it works great, which is why I hoped it had gained on-device support for this update.
RIght, that would be cool, some trim options. I am hoping this is the precursor to a Circuit Sampler... Which is kind of what I was hoping the anouncement was. SO now I am eyeing the Volca Sample... Although the Volva FM is tastey too.
Ahhh I see, so there were clues.
I have the Volca Sample (& Keys & Bass!), and an FM on pre-order. The Sample is quite fun, you can get some nice granular stuff going on with a long enough sample and the motion sequencing.
The new sample loading works great, I was able to easily replace all 64 drums with my own samples without hitting the 60 second mark. You don't HAVE to replace all 64, you can pick and choose, and easily reload all the stock samples from the browser too. Plus you get real time preview before you send them to the Circuit.
I'm also glad to finally be able to back up my current sessions so I can free up some room for new ones. Especially since all my old sessions no longer sound right with the new drum samples I just loaded It's a bit weird that we HAVE to use Google Chrome and log in with Facebook or Google, I would have rather just had a standalone app myself. Oh well, it works and it's a nice improvement for free no less.
I wonder whether use of the Cloud is a way for Novation to keep a tab on what we upload and how. For example, if they were to start selling off Circuit Sample packs.
Just realised, sample / drum polyphony set to 4. This is where my new Monomachnine (due today / tomorrow) sending program changes will come in handy.
ModStep will be able to do the same thing too of course.
Use of the cloud from the user perspective means that you have access to all your info wherever you are as long as you have a net connection. This means you do not have to carry other media around with you, and you cannot forget something, or not have something available to you when you didn't know you were going to need it.
The FB/G+ login will be required to make it secure. Having it as a browser app means no installs or updates for apps. Sharing with people you want to should be easy too.
From Novation's point of view having it run in a browser means they only have to maintain the website and not multiple versions of an app running on lot of platforms. In theory you could do this from your phone or tablet to if it has chrome installed.
If they were going to keep tabs, or want to use your account details to market to you, there will be something stating so in the T&C's and an option to not have that happen, in fact for the marketing side I believe they are obliged to have it so you have to say you want it, rather than not want it.
I don't think there is anything sinister about it.

made a sample set if anyone wants to test without building one etc
I didn't think there was anything sinister, just a possible route for Novation to start selling sample kits. This is, after all, something of a bit of a specialist area for them in terms of the Launchpad and Block Waves apps.
Good points about the Cloud, I just wish it worked with iOS.
I guess a store could appear at some point. And wouldn't it be great if you could upload your own sample packs for sale on there
Wow, that was quick, thanks! Will check it out this evening.
what does this mean regarding polyphony? Is it PER drumpart?
The samples are sequenced via the drumparts of which there are four.
its just a quick drag and drop from my sample folder, but there is some very nice drum hits in there
ok,thanks.
one more question to the group:internet says it's class compliant,so i assume i can use USB to midi sync it from (or to)ipad? Can i plug a second interface into the ipad and sync another machine like the BS2 as well (and does it all run well).Screw all machines that don't have midi thru anymore...
Nice one, uploading now!
@mireko_2 You've obviously tried it out, initial thoughts?
I gave the sample upload a whirl right before work this morn and loaded up a bunch of samples into the browser (super easy and that 60 seconds goes a long way). It was just about to complete the upload to Circuit (which seemed to be going pretty quick) and then in my haste to get out the door... I accidentally unplugged it before it was done, doh. So will have to try again tonight.
I plug it into my ipad for midi syncing with Cubasis, works perfectly. No audio is sent though. I also gave it a whirl sequencing in Modstep and while it was possible I didn't see much point as the unit has such great sequencing as is. I may use it for sending cc info to change samples on the fly though.
There is no midi through but I did send midi sync from Cubasis -> Tenori-On (hardware) -> Circuit with no problems and it was pretty cool. Will be doing this again.
Holy fuck. First play and this is IMMENSE. So much better than I even expected. Great mixed sample set @mireko_2. I'll upload a demo later.
I'm wrong btw folks, 60 second is total for all the pads. The current drum PCMs take up about 30 seconds.
many thanks!
very tempted now.Anyone here want to buy my Spark LE btw?
Good idea, here's my sample pack if anyone wants to play with them in their Circuit:
