  • Fully optimized for both Portrait and Landscape use

Wireless connection:

  • Supports Apple BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) MIDI MIDI nanoKONTROL Studio nanoKEYSTUDIO Studio and more

Universal? That's for real? So there's a remote chance to get another KORG ones as universal apps?

    Thanks for the heads up!!!

  • I really wish I could read those 3 bullets under "expanded usability"

Just found an article in French detailing and confirming some of the upcoming features. It also includes some hi-res photos of the iPhone version!:

    http://fr.audiofanzine.com/instrument-virtuel-iphone-ipod-touch-ipad/korg/gadget-2/news/a.play,n.31492.html

    Translated with Google Translate:

IPhone and iPod Touch owners will soon be able to enjoy the app Korg synths Gadget v2.0 in on their devices.

After the success of the iPad app, the Korg Gadget will therefore soon be offered on the AppStore version 2.0 for iPhone and iPod Touch. Gadget currently includes twenty instruments (15 shipped with the app, the others are available via app purchases) and displayed both in portrait and landscape modes. In addition, the app can be controlled remotely, via Bluetooth, via external MIDI controllers, including new nanoKEY Studio and Studio NanoKontrol we talked about yesterday or keyboards Microkey masters.

Korg says that Gadget v2.0 will also be compatible with the latest iPad Pro and becomes universal for the occasion: You buy a license to enjoy Gadget on all your iOS devices.

Gadget v2.0 also provide the ability to share data between different pieces your devices via iCloud, new EQ and compressor are appearing on every Virtual Console, an arpeggiator is added to all types of Gadgets keyboard, Chord Trigger happens, meanwhile all polyphonic keyboard Gadgets and you will enjoy an Undo / Redo in the sequencer.

Finally, note that Korg will offer a version LE, free gadget for those who want to discover the app without paying the € 40 it costs the full version. Of course, this Light Edition is limited to only 3 Gadgets, 5 tracks, do not include the EQ and compressor nor most sound creations management features (only GadgetCloud and WIST).

  • CSI Audiobus B)
    Sounds good so far!

  • Could you use both units at the same time with one iPad? I can see that being so handy :)

  • Sounds good!

  • Very nice, been really into gadget lately hopefully this update should improve the workflow with easy midi control of the mixer (if they are on CC's) and the undo redo function

  • Glad to hear about this! Individual clip launch would be sweet too, but I doubt it.

Sounds good. I assume if you own Gadget (1) you don't have to buy Gadget v2?

EQ and Compressor is good. Still missing a global delay IMO (although most admittedly have that option if you want to give up an insert effect.)

Great find by the way! I was just looking myself but found nothing...

  • Nice bit of detective work @janogarcia ! Universal and what sounds the ability to export and import projects via iCloud sound great updates. Between those and Link support I may start using Gadget again

  • Would be nice to be able to share presets...

  • If you look at 2.06 in the iphone plus screen. you can see the arpeggiator at work (piano roll style) looks good

  • @pierre Yeah, actually I've seen a close-up of that sequence showing the arp pop-up on another video, can't recall the link. Very exciting.

  • i wonder if gadget will run on an iphone 5c...

  • edited January 2016

@pierre IIRC the gadget's keyboard (Kingston in this case) changes dynamically depending on the selected notes for the arp(?).

    Buy a license?!

  • EQ and comp per channel?Great news indeed,i only hope both is a little more than the toyish eq and comp thats new to garageband ;)

Universal is also very nice...and c'mon,Korg.A new and shiny gadget where i can throw my money at :)

  • Well, that is what we do when we "purchase" apps, we obtain a license to use. We don't own the app.

I have to think that now that they've expanded the user base, some new gadgets will follow.

And it definitely looks like a full blown eq with adjustable frequency for all three bands.Whoop Whoop :)

Exactly @Crabman - but the focus here was on apps and what Korg might be saying about Gadget

    Still better than renting IMO...

Then of course there's the problem where an app gets pulled from the app store... Ahem!

  • I'm sorry but for a 2.0 this is weak to me. 1.0 came out so strong maybe I'm spoiled. This seems more like 1.7 or 1.8. I'm sure it will be a free update though. For me a proper 2.0 would have been for us to use all of the other Korg apps in GAdget.

Sounds like most of it is under the hood type of stuff. It's now universal, stretching it out to both the iPhone and Pro is probably a bigger deal than it sounds. Plus the new effects sounds like maybe things are now opened up for future effects Gadgets, that is to say maybe they had to rework some things to make that happen.

Would be nice to see some new Gadgets soon though.

  • I just want Animoog as a Gadget. But sadly that's never going to happen.

Maybe through the magic of AU this could happen, but I wouldn't hold your breath!

    Agree. Just dreaming.

    Until then... Wouldn't mind:

    • a better drum synth than Tokyo
    • an FM synth gadget
    • something granular like Boarderlands/iDensity that you could load your own samples into
