Just to have an idea...how long for the volume fix please?
Did you guys think about adding a random button to randomise the sampler ?
An observation, to import samples into sampler is sometimes odd, because MS imports a sample from AS to "anywhere" seems like...depending where you were at the moment...
Couldn't this process be more refined that a sample would go into a folder of a kit I am working on and midi file could never be imported into audio files folder...etc?

It imports into whatever folder is selected on the upper left window (or upper middle window if you have subfolders made like i do, for organizing samples). The folder you're importing into should be highlighted, and you'll see in the lower left corner the specific folder and its contents.
Is anybody having issues running MIDI into a computer? It worked flawlessly before the update, but now I can't get FL Studio to do anything unless I open the Studiomux app (which shouldn't be necessary since its built in to Modstep), and even then it's not seeming to be working like it used to. FL is a pain to deal with for multiple MIDI channels so it might be the DAW's fault, i dunno.
@cblomert , @Nerk_ Does the bugfix update address the hanging notes issue mentioned earlier in the thread , & re quoted above , by myself & @sleepless , it has yet to be commented on by either ModStep dev here .
Playing with an external keyboard to either ipad synths or external synths isnt workable .
The hanging occurs pre-sequencer , so will occur just playing thru ModStep ( sequencer off) , but the sequencer will record the hanging notes if REC .
+1000
and unless i missed something, choke groups on the current sampler would be nice too!
Sorry if I missed any comment related. @Tones4Christ both these apps do not get MIDI notes. The only way I see to use iMachine with Modstep is sinc via Ableton Link, and for iMPC to use WIST and 2 devices. Am I wrong?
+1001 on the choke groups. would make the sampler a hundred times more useful to me.
@Tones4Christ @zarv :Imaschine can only be synced via Ableton Link, but you can load it as an IAA instrument and apply fx to it via the chain. iMPC Pro can be synced using IAA Sync or Ableton Link; using MIDI learn, you can also assign various parameters.
Hi everybody, we just released a little bugfix update for modstep:
@Nerk_
That WOW filter on Animoog IAA recording audio loop to Audioshare fixed!
Wow! Thank you so much!
Is there a way to load a sampled note in that synth as an oscilator source ?
Or you can only use the sampler for drum kits?
Now that we have AU support, it doesn't really matter that much, but I'm just wondering.
@Nerk_
That reopening saved re-recording problem still exist!
I can still see vanishing ghost data on Modstep.
Part 1-6 already disappeared! Just a reminding, thank you.
@Kaikoo Edit: got it - i will try to recreate the behavior
This is what I'm waiting for too.
Another request would be to include support for streaming sound fonts.
I know we can't have everything in one app, but this one is getting close
It's a nice idea, but if we do something in that general direction, it will take some time
Good stuff, thanks for the fixes.
@Nerk_
It is really nice to see that the update brings some refinements as well as bug fixes.
A few ideas related to the keyboard:
I wonder if it would make sense to open the synth presets above the keyboard? That way they could be tested on the keyboard before closing the preset list. Likewise, the scale could open above the keyboard so one could see how they affect the keys before closing.
And: is it just me, but I always want to close the keyboard with a swipe down gesture, especially when it is in the way when opening mixer etc.
And also, could the keyboard push the clips up the way the mixer etc does? The way it is now, I cannot select all clips while the keyboard is visible.
By the way, adding the keyboard was a real game changer in my opinion.
Keep up the great work!
Visible (right hand side) play button when in keyboard mode.
Will you be supporting direct hardware audio outputs in the future? In AUM I can see all 12 USB audio outputs for the iConnectAUDIO4+, so it is feasible I guess.
Appreciate the update THANKS, was hoping for the LOW AUDIO output fix
In sample import and recording....
The fix for me temporarily is to run Modstep's outputs into AUM, for whatever reason that puts the signal back to normal.
@soundklinik we did boost the sample volume, but didn't put it in the patch notes. - also make sure that you put the notes that play to maximum velocity (standard is 100/127 which results in lower volume)
We also added an internal interpolation step that automatically upsamples lower samplerate-samples (e.G. 16kHz), so if you try these again, they should sound fine now without resampling to 44kHz.
@cblomert can you add something so we can have the velocity at a different default setting? i have to go note by note and increase it on samples and it gets sort of annoying after one thousand times or so. or is there already an option that i just don't know.
Can't spend 2 min in that app without stumbling on bugs. I found my way once avoiding buggy traps and had a descent result, to find out later that IAA hosting does not support state saving. In other word, lost my work and time.
These are TOYS folks, not tools.
@Philippe : please let us know what bugs you are talking about in order to fix them!
Modstep is becoming a fundamental step in my workflow. Something is missing yet, eg frequent crashes when using heawy instr like cubase or rebirth, but all in all it' s evolving in the right direction. Keep on
Updated but there are 2 bugs left:
Great app and congratulation to the devs. I totally understand the complexity of the app so it may be better focusing on bug-fixes rather implementing new features. (I keep my 22 FR list for later)
viking synth now works great without the preset issue! so neat to open a song file and just having everything work as it should.
well, except for isem. seems that the preset you select becomes the default no matter what song file you open. lets say i have an isem pad on song1, and i open song2 that has an isem lead, instead i get the pad preset that i had on song1.
but its an isem thing though. tried it with AUM and its the same in there. im i dumb and im doing something wrong?
btw, kq minisynth still has that bug of only having audio coming through the left speaker. i thought, maybe re-downloading it might do something, and no. works normal on AUM as a AU though. and re-downloading it, i forgot to backup my presets and lost them
[should really remember to do that next time]
Apologies if these questions were recently raised around here, but can you set mute/choke groups with the Modstep sampler? And can you import multiple samples at once, even if it's via ifunbox or a zipped folder through iTunes or whatever?
Audioshare import is cool, but it's really tedious to fill a kit with one shots this way, so the workflow really encourages you to just import a loop and copy it across the pads with varying slice points.
Would love for (folder) importing to work like it does in Beathawk, with the iCloud document picker.
Relatedly, why is Audioshare the only app that can import folders from Dropbox (without issue, since BM2 fails at nested folders)? Why is folder importing so rare in iOS world? How do folks have the patience? I guess factory kits and synth instruments mostly scratch the itch(?)
Thanks for that @rhcball. Will give it a go. So far I have been Using MS as "standalone" for everything without hosting in other apps.
